I see this being plausible. They sure do look good in white.

I live in Georgia and this plant is about an hour and half from me, pass it every now and then going into Alabama and down to Florida. Massive plant. Fun fact, I've heard that if you buy a Kia from a dealer in this city (LaGrange), you save on the destination fee. That's all I have to say. LOL

Ewwww, gross. Kia....
What if it was made at the level of say Genesis?

I’m not sure what people are expecting....Apple makes consumer goods sold at walmart. Is it any surprise that their car will not be at the level of Porsche? (Can’t really say even now-disposable Mercedes since anyone with a steady job can get into one of their cheaper vehicles now)

You literally said "It won't be this, so it is this"

Are we now all admitting iPhone is a Foxconn phone?
I'm not talking about iPhones, I'm talking about the Apple Car. If it is built by Kia using Kia parts, it is a Kia as far as I'm concerned. You might think it would be a BMW, but it wouldn't be. You should also look up the definition of the word 'literally'. Run along now.

"Hyundai intends to transition the company's Apple Car involvement to its Kia brand"
too much noise for this not too be true - by now, Apple is probably hating talking to these guys

It's funny people act like Apple is somehow put upon by dealing with fabricators.

Tim Cook has made his career working with other manufacturers. Can you imagine the nightmare it is to determine who makes what parts from iPhone?

All I can say is people seem super out of touch with the industry. Apple does not build anything

Not even really bigger, BMW sold 2.5 million vehicles in 2019, which Hyundai/Kia sold 7.19 million. People are making Hyundai out as if they are some roughshod car company that doesn't know how to build petrol cars or EVs, meanwhile they're here continuously improving their quality and diversity of models. Are they the best in the world? Probably not, but they are putting a lot of other makers to shame these days.
Kia by itself (without counting Hyundai made cars) makes as many cars per year as BMW.

So after reading the fine print Hyundai is trying to distance itself from Apple. Eventually Kia will too or that deal will fall through too - leaving apl to go it alone - as they should

Hyundai probably makes the best balance of quality and innovation among the mainstream car brands.

Toyota makes non-innovative reliable vehicles. GM makes garbage. VM makes cool but unreliable cars.

On the positive side, I will instantly become the owner of the Apple Car prototype made in 2017. Let me know if anyone is interested in acquiring it from me.

Kia is building an entire car with Apple parts, I think not. It would be a Kia.

It remains to be seen who is actually doing what in the production process, other than the Korean Industry will likely have a hand in the heavy lifting because they need to actually mass produce the thing in order to sell it.

Don’t worry. Apple isn’t going to produce a Yugo. But they might not produce something to the level of a Taycan either. Probably something along the lines of the nerdiest RAV4 /CR-V segment vehicle possible. So run along yourself, and go bite your nails worrying that it will be some cheap disposable car (which it most certainly will be, because that is the state of the auto industry).

So is this going to be a Kia branded car with Apple tech or an Apple branded car that is manufactured by Kia?

It's reasonable to expect that Apple will design and provide schematics for Kia, and they will fabricate an Apple branded car.

Think iPhone for Car, Foxconn for Kia.

I was thinking someone like VW, Audi or BMW would be a better fit for Apple. But KIA? ok...
Apple literally only wants a fabricator. BMW, Audi, and VW all make unreliable vehicles. Apple will likely design the car and you won't be able to tell it's a Kia.

Apple likely has no interest in what BMW, Audi, and VW are good at.
