I used the card for 6 months and loved it before I had a fraudulent charge, and GS told me it was a legit transaction and wouldn't refund me. It took me 18 months to get it sorted. Until Apple owns it completely, I will never use again.

I am considered a "dead beat" customer by all the credit card companies. Why? Because I pay off the balance in full every month and I get free use of the banks money for up to 45 days.

I have significant allowable balance capability due to a extrememlyn high credit rating. I have no long term either.

We have a couple of cards that live in our "bug out" bags that we normally never use so the entire line of credit would be available if needed in an emergency.

I have had issues getting some purchases made with the Apple Card number, but the folks on the bank side do get it resolved in a timely fashion. The card itself stays in a secure location.

Great card, great integration with the app, and I've never paid a cent in interest on it because I pay it off every month. I recently requested a credit limit increase from the website and it went through in minutes. If you buy Apple products and live in the US, you should get one for that if nothing else.

They still get merchant money because of you. True deadbeats would get the card and never use it.

I like mine. I currently have a phantom $100 hold charge that popped up out of nowhere that I could live without, but supposedly they are investigating that. This is my primary card and I have never had an issue that wasn't quickly resolved.

Well wait, wasn’t there an article a week or so about some investigation by some agency regarding resolving customer issues??

Regardless, I’ve had the card for I think 2 years and am very happy with their customer service the few times I inquired
The govt investigating things often has nothing to do with real issues. They can investigate if one of their friends didn’t like the card. Some organizations actually collect data … not sure if JD Powers does but hopefully they do. M

We put virtually 100% of our spending on our AMEX and never carry a balance. They seem to like us just fine.

I also keep a card "in reserve" but I make a couple of transactions on it each quarter to reduce the chances of fraud flags popping up if I suddenly start charging a lot of stuff on it.

If you're paying on time, you're not a dead beat. Maybe a marginally profitable customer though, depending on what other business you have with the card issuer.
:)

I think with the Apple Card it’s technically up to ~60 days. Don’t have to pay charges from X/1 until (X+1)/31

They would love it if 100% of their customers were gigantic interest paying whales, but they'd be leaving tons of free merchant transaction money on the table if they didn't take care of their responsible credit users too.

I’ve been in what was apparently a Pilot program from USAA where I get 2.5% Cashback on every purchase. That is going to end 12/31/2022. My Wells Fargo card gives 2% on all purchases (equal to my Apple Card when using Apple Pay). I wish Apple would give 2% on even swiped transactions and have a few 5% categories like my other cards. If it did, it would be the only card I’d use.
Agreed. While I really like the built in protections the cars offers and the customer service, the return % is horrible, and the interest rate isn’t exactly fantastic, despite my 800+ credit rating.

I've had extensive problems with Apple Card, especially customer service, and recommend it to nobody. I completely accept that it has worked out for others, but I've been let down multiple times by Apple here. And no, I'm not an Apple hater... I have multiple MacBook Pros, multiple iPads, and an iPhone.

Every provider has a different business model. Some charge annual fees, some rely more on merchant fees, some get kickbacks from travel partners, others offer lower rates of interest to encourage people to borrow. The UK British Airways Amex card has a £250 annual fee but gives you a free companion ticket every year you spend £10,000 (that can be used in long-haul business class). How do they make any money from people like me that settle the account to zero by direct debit automatically every month and purposely hit the spending target.

I'd still like the Apple Card though - there's virtually no cash back cards in the UK and it's so pretty!

I think the true "dead beat" customer would be the one that rarely if ever uses the card. Even if someone pays their card off each month, if they are relatively active $$$ user, the credit card can at least still make money from merchant interchange rates/fees.

The GUI, end of the month due date, the ease of paying your balance, receiving cash back or even requesting a CLI all make the Apple Card one of my favorites.

All good aside, I think it wouldn’t hurt to add a few more merchants for 3% back or have a higher 5% back tier.
Agree 100%. I love my Apple Card. I wish they would bump the rewards to 1.5%, 3%, and 5%.

That's what I keep hoping for too. Right now I have a Citi card that gives me 2% back for everything. If Apple did that, it would be my only card. For now, I'm using the Apple Card wherever Apple Pay is supported. I'm using Citi for everything else.
