I wish they'd do more with the engraving to make it a little more unique with engraving that people can actually see. Having it on the pin and back of the watch is just having a standard sports watch.

I don't want to get political as we are not allowed to, but I honestly don't feel this is going to cause unity I feel like its doing the opposite, I wish everyone would get along better, we are all children of g-d
I agree with your sentiment, but you really think some people are so snowflaky that they will melt with positive acknowledgment of a marginalized group. Oh, point taken

I cringed reading your post. I'm not even sure I want to ask why you even feel that way? Do you feel the same way with pride bands? Product Red? I personally applaud Apple for these type of products and hope they continue to make more.

I love it and will buy a watch band.

I believe the greatest thing to come from these initiatives is already happening; conversations about race.

To get closer to human unity, we have to talk to each other and what Apple is doing is sparking conversations about race.

It’s just a band with colors. Wear what you like. Thankfully there are many, many cheaper options available on Amazon and other places. I’m not going to get worked up over the theme. However, I do wish Apple would spend more time designing classic styling of watch faces. I prefer watch faces that emphasize clarity, good use of negative space, and a couple of useful complications. Time to open up the watch face design to third parties, Apple. Then you can move all your designs to the App Store and let users pick what they want from there while starting with A simple initial watch face.

It’s cool how corporations can package anything up for sale under any event/celebration/disaster
I get that view point. However, if they are donating proceeds to support the items you listed, then its a step in the right direction.

I'd be interested in buying it, but I was already waiting to get another stainless steel model. Super cool though!

Marginalized? Where? What I can see is cheap marketing trick in very polarized social and political situation.
Where? The US for one. Higher rates of incarceration, selective prosecution, unequal access to housing, education, jobs, voting. Yah, marginalized. Supporting a group of people is never a bad thing, well not Nazis, what supremecists, insurrectionists, ... you get the point

I don't even know where to begin, mate.
Chinese are Asian, but not all Asian are Chinese.
Sarcasm refers to the use of words that mean the opposite of what you really want to say, especially in order to insult someone, or to show irritation, or just to be funny. For example, saying "they're really on top of things" to describe a group of people who are very disorganized is using sarcasm.

But beyond that, I was also mocking the concept of leaving “Asians” out of it, as if “Asian” is a valid thing at all, as well as the concept of “Pan African Unity” when the mere idea of it is like saying “I can’t tell Asians apart.”

Africa is a pretty diverse continent, with multiple races and cultures. While a company that doesn’t have too many actual African employees might see this promotion as woke, well, it is not. It is PANDERING. And pandering to black Americans of a particular militancy level at the expense of unity while claiming to promote it.

Sort of like Nancy Pelosi and friends kneeling and wearing woke African garb that they didn’t really understand.

There has not been one black friend, colleague or teacher I have had in my life who has ever worn “African” garb or unity symbols in public. It is not so much a cultural thing as much as a subcultural thing. Which only goes to reinforce the truth that black people are not homogeneous and shouldn’t be treated as such, just as “Asian-American” isn’t a real thing as Asia is so diverse, and “white” isn’t a culture either.

And what is untenable as a non-black person is the modern expectation that I should both NOT see differences AND be aware of all differences. I am racist if I can’t tell a Jamaican accent from a Bahamian one, for example, yet I am also supposed to say our current Vice President is “African American” even though her parents are Indian and “East Indian” and she is more “Asian-American” than anything, and more Canadian than American.

This is why identity politics in America is destroying itself. Fatigue sets in, and in the end, things don’t change the way they are supposed to.

If Apple is going to release special edition products to celebrate marginalized groups of individuals, should I expect a watch for The People incoming?
That’s alright. With Deb Haaland as the new secretary of the interior we look forward to getting our land back instead. That’s much better than 400 dollars worth of engraved platitudes.
