Obviously? In the picture where the very first customers entering the store are walking down a row of blue-shirted Apple employees, yes, duh, you see more employees. In the other pictures there's more customers than employees. People are looking so hard for ways to paint this as a terrible no good horrible day. A new device is out, many people are happy to be getting it. Even if that's not you, maybe let the be happy?
Lots of negativity on here, but oh well going to enjoy my iPhone 8!
Is it so hard for people to understand that more and more people are going to order online and not go to the store
to upgrade?

There were always be a lot of negativity on a tech site, especially those who don't share other peoples views about what they appreciate in an iPhone. And you are correct, ordering online is much more of an efficient and streamlined process, versus standing in line. Years ago, standing in line used to be somewhat worth it, but ordering online is simplistic.

Apple Orchard Road, Singapore

Like omg, I scored a touchdown for a team at the superbowl and won millions of dollars as a bonus and then signed Nike and Powerade as a sponsor. My life is forever changed. That's why they're all high-fiving me here in this picture - because I actually did something fantastic for not only myself, but for my team, my coach, my family and millions of fans.

fun fact. we have a 5 people in line waiting to get buy a bread in the bakery. 0 people infront Apple store.
The bakery must have a radical new design bread, magical in bread way.

Can’t wait for release preorder number from the bakery

Yeah, lets celebrate a 4 year old phone design. This is just sad. And the iPhone X isn't going to sell as well as the tech journalist think it is either. $1000 bucks for a phone with no touch-id and that ugly devil horns. 2017 isn't going to be a good year for Apple...
o!

No!

My brother walked into a T-Mobile store and bought an iPhone 8. Interestingly, he said the rep that sold it to him said that if he buys the X he would get AirPods bundled. That would be great but I can only assume the T-Mobile rep doesn't know what he/she is talking about...

Looking at that picture with the Asian guy high-fiving is kind of cringing...I think it's that nerdy expression. I wonder if he would have that same expression if his friends got x phones.

I think a logical reason for keeping the 6S lineup may be the pushback over the lack of a headphone jack in any iPhone from the 7 onward.

Possible, but would be evident that Apple then doesn't even believe in their own "courage" to drop it. and if 6S sales are still so high due to headphone jack, it should be indication that they should be re-considering their actions (I really don't want to get into the old debate about headphone jack at this point though)

in addition, if Apple has so many 6S's still available, 7's still available, that they can continnue to keep them around, it might be an indication of inventory of 7's and 6s's that have not cleared like they expected.

Can't activate cellular on my wife's Apple Watch 3 with LTE with T-Mobile. Spent an hour on the phone with T-Mobile; the reps are acting as though they were not trained for the launch of the Apple Watch 3 with LTE. One rep said she would transfer me to Apple support but instead transferred me to another rep. She went through the same script and 30 minutes later, she said she would transfer me to Apple support, and then blind-transferred me to Apple. I was hoping she would be on the call with Apple, but she was gone.

Apple support had no clue what Apple Watch Series 3 with LTE was. The dude didn't know that Apple Watch Series 2 had no LTE. Finally, he told me I needed to call T-Mobile. I told him it was unacceptable and demanded to talk to the group that was set up for the launch of Apple Watch with LTE to handle any release-day issues. He said he found such a group and transferred me to another person. That dude was in the Apple Watch support group. The dude didn't know basic things about Apple watch. He told me that Apple watch cannot connect to Wi-Fi if I turn Wi-Fi off on the iPhone. He said there was an issue with Wi-Fi LTE on Apple Watch Series 3, and he thought that issue affected the activation of LTE on the new Apple watch (of course, that is a completely different issue that has nothing to do with activation of the cellular service). He made me unpair the Apple watch from the iPhone and pair it again as a new watch (rather than restoring the backup of my wife's Apple Watch Series 2). The activation failed no matter what he tried. Finally, he told me I needed to backup my iPhone and factory-default it. I told him I'd had enough of his complete incompetence and hung up on him.

Shortly thereafter, T-Mobile sent me a text with the survey of my experience with their support. I gave T-Mobile all 0s. Ten minutes later, I received a call from T-Mobile based on my negative feedback. The guy said he was going to get to the bottom of it, and he mentioned this was a system-wide issue. I told him that I wasn't claiming it was a system-wide issue and that the issue may be just with my account, especially because I set up my account as a business account. He told me that as more and more Apple Watch Series 3 with LTE are being delivered to customers, especially on the West Coast now, they are getting an increasing amount of calls about LTE activation failing. He said he will try to get to the bottom of this and will call me back within 2 hours.

-----
What happens is that when you try to activate LTE during the Apple Watch paring process or after the watch is pared (without LTE activation), you are taken to the T-Mobile page that prompts you for the last 4 digits of your SSN. Once you enter the last four digits of the SSN and press Next, you get an Activation Error message that says that you should call T-Mobile for support. T-Mobile support is completely unprepared for dealing with this today.

It's called "love bombing". That's how they do it to make people feel included. It's a classic cult technique.

In contrast, they don't do that in Starbucks Coffee when they have new drinks being introduced. I've been in long lines before at comic conventions, book signings, and such, never having to deal with the stupidity of clap happy workers. People think it's part of the Apple " experience " but in reality, they're being 'love bombed' without knowing it.

Check it out: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_bombing

Isn't 'love bumping' more appropriate for the fist bumping, high fiving, body grinding, etc.?

1 person in line..............LOL

I stood in line in New York at Apple’s iconic “cube” store the day that Apple released the original iphone in 2007. The line stretched multiple NYC city blocks. I will never forget that day as it felt like you were part of a major world wide event. Now, people can order online so you won’t see those long lines ever again.

Just
Such pessimistic views. I’ve just got my 8 Plus and I love it. No regrets!
I assume your previous iPhone is not iPhone 7. For those with iPhone 7, iPhone 8 is not a big upgrade as similar physical design and minor tweaks in the hardware. The excitement of iphone 8 depends on what iPhone type iPhone owners has.
