What exactly does this accomplish? Are there jailbreak podcasts available on iTunes or something? I just don't understand this.
I'm guessing it makes it impossible to find the word jailbreak with a search.

Other words Apple may censor in the near future:

G****e (Google)
A*****d (Android)
L*****t (Lawsuit)
H********h (Hackintosh)

Any other words that may come to your mind?

If it IS some sort of crazy mistake it reminds me an awful lot of this:

That was Awful!

Did you noticed the huge Walkmans?? And now some people complain about how heavy the iPhone is!

lol apple is soo rich and powerful that they have officially made "jailbreak" a bad word in the english language.. lololo its a profanity.. So dont say the "J" word please...hahahahah:rolleyes:

I thought jailbreaking is actually legal under the DMCA? Apple doesn't have to offer support or warranty for jailbroken devices, but censoring jailbreaking seems to be moving away from simply not supporting the activity to actively interfering with legal rights.

I don't understand why they would be so clumsy. When you take the decision to censor for business reasons, surely you check that it's going to work absolutely smoothly and not censor innocuous occurrences, for fear of exactly what has happened here - the story blowing back and making them look like tits. Someone should get fired for this.

Maybe now that that's out of the way they'll return their focus to less important things like hardware or software updates.

J*******k isn't censored in all instances

It isn't censored in all instances right now. Kind of weird. Sounds like their engineers are tweaking stuff in their censoring software.

Jailbreak seems like such a innocuous word to censor. What does it mean outside the obvious connotations?

This seemed so implausible, I had to check it out.. True enough, the J word isn't affected outside the US.. is it REALLY coming up asterisked over there?

Is Prison Break now unavailable? Have they applied similar censorship to it? (bleeping or blocking out every reference to a j*******k in every episode?)

My guess is that they probably meant to limit this is APPS but inadvertently applied the censor to music as well. Now I'm wondering about movies and TV.

Tony

That or it's supposed to be a joke/Easter egg from an employee who either was recently or soon will be fired. Or a misc. hacker just looking to make his/her mark on the Internet.

To the mod who thought it funny to delete my post cause I mentioned the Ministry of Truth:
