In his first speech of the campaign, he called Mexican immigrants "rapists". FOX News. Since elected he's incessantly talked about and sought funding for a border wall with Mexico.

ICE raids have increased under his administration, and Trump says that ICE raids and border patrol are the only way of keeping LA from becoming a "crime nest" FOX News. That's even though a number of studies have shown that immigrants to commit FEWER crimes than native-born Americans Politifact.

He signed "an executive order in January 2017 establishing a ban on travel of people from Muslim-majority nations" FOX News. One could argue this is not "racist" per se, although bigoted against a religion and these countries, coincidentally, are not white-majority countries.

He calls Africa a bunch of s***hole countries Chicago Tribune and calls for more immigration from Norway because obviously Norwegians are "industrious". He initially refused to condemn the Neo-Nazi white supremacists at Charlottesville, saying there were "very fine people", which made many Republicans speak out against him, including Paul Ryan.

You've probably noticed I've tried to pick news sources that are on the right or moderate. Someone who does not immediately and clearly condemn racist acts in the 21st century does not deserve to be the leader of the most powerful nation of the world. And giving Trump any legitimacy by meeting with him just normalizing what should never become the norm again.

That’s quite a narrative. Perhaps you’d feel better without a border or ICE. Just be honest about it. You find the concept of both offensive.

ICE stands for Immigration and Customs Enforcement. That’s what they’re supposed to do. It’s in their title and mandate. Sorry if that offends you.

100% agree with this
[doublepost=1524673329][/doublepost]

There is no PROOF that this happens in the US so there is no need for Voter ID law in the US

Nice dodge.

Haha... You sure?

I have no idea what you are talking about. Clinton is not on any ticket. Unless you are conflating campaign adds with continued arguments SHE SHOULD BE IN PRISON. And she should be in prison. Also, statue of limitations has not run on any of her misdeeds and she can still be indicted.

While we're on the subject, Hillary is another lunatic who cannot stop running around blaming everyone for her loss except herself. Lol. What a loser. Yeah, she's "in the resistance." A 2 time loser "resistant" to winning.

Inside leaks indicate the White House staff has a betting pool on which member of the tRUMP clan will be the first to be indicted and sentenced to prison. What beautiful irony.

I want to see your proof. There is none, that's why the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity was closed. a total JOKE!

He’s the duly elected president of these United States. 60 million Americans voted for him. Criticize someone when you feel someone is wrong, but the “all Trump all the time” focus of people on the left is insanity. You people are absolutely deranged. It’s truly mind boggling.

Let the CEO of the worlds biggest company dine at the White House without an analysis of ***** Donald Trump and all the hand wringing. Get a grip, people, please. Most of your lives have not changed one iota since the guy was elected.

Actually, their lives have changed. They are undoubtedly safer and more prosperous. ISIS has been decimated, though remnants remain, unemployment is at an all time low for Hispanics and blacks and in 14 states, North Korea is stating they want to come into the world community and denuclearize, tax reform has allowed 95% of Americans to keep more of their own money to support their families and businesses to raise their wages and give them bonuses, and the number of people on food stamps is plummeting.

Are they going to discuss free healthcare but avoiding paying taxes? :)
[doublepost=1524675095][/doublepost]He got money?

There’s a relatively simple way out of it. The Republicans can go back to nominating competent adults like McCain and Romney. I didn’t vote for either of them, but they would have been fully qualified and capable of serving if elected, unlike the current president.
This further highlights the divide in this county. You'd rather we have John "bomb, bomb Iran" McCain or Romney who just parrots the Hillary standard line that we need to go to war with Russia.
The fact that the left is now not only tolerant of war, but actually pro war makes me fear for our species.

Why would a powerful, intelligent, openly gay man who runs one of the most successful companies in the world want to meet one-on-one with an idiot who bankrupted four times and failed nearly every business venture he started and who hates gays and praise nazis?

I honestly don't understand why people give his moron any type of audience.

Why wouldn’t Tim Cook talk to the most powerful political figure in the country? I think Trump is an absolute buffoon but if I had the opportunity to have dinner with him and talk about issues I’m passionate about, I would take it. Whether or not you, or I for that matter, are/am happy with the results of the 2016 election, the fact is Donald Trump is our president. Being defiant and ignorant, the “not my president” attitude, does little-nothing to promote your interests. It may make a partisan political statement, but it’s not going to give you any chance of influencing decision making process. I think it’s fair to say Trump is relatively impressionable person.

When David Hogg refused the phone call from Trump, I thought that was a missed opportunity and very poor decision. If you have a boss or coworker at work that you disagree with are you just going to refuse to talk to him? These methods of silencing or boycotting opposing viewpoints in my mind is like going to war rather than trying to solve conflicts diplomatically. At least through discussion you might get a compromise or at the very least know you did what you could.

This belief that if you cover your ears with your hands and yell really loud, you can change reality or whatever, is immature and deeply troubling. If people with opposing viewpoints can’t have a mature discussion I don’t know what’s the future holds for us.

I’m happy Tim Cook took the time to meet with Trump. Cook is a very influential guy, I presume Trump must respect him on some level, and I trust Tim took the opportunity to voice his beliefs and concerns.

The left has always been pro-war: Kennedy/Johnson got us into Vietnam.

Not true...you just haven't noticed it yet.

Live not changing means that everything is stagnant which is not what he promised. I would say that the country is worse off since he took office:

wages haven't increased
factory jobs are still gone
red america is still out of work
net neutrality has been killed
Taxes have actually increased (even with this so called tax cut)
etc, etc

Yep..that proves it.

Most of the current Democrats weren't alive then but hey, whatever you say.

I'm kind of surprised he chose to attend to be honest. But hey a free meals a free meal.

Business is business. There were also 150 people at the dinner- heads of state, politicians, and other CEOs. I would expect someone with the stature of Tim Cook, CEO of one of the biggest and wealthiest companies in the world, to attend. If only to hobnob with the elites.

Not everything is about politics. That seems lost on a lot of people these days.

Love this new narrative that is being painted.

now you are going to work in pro war and attached to liberals without any basis for that statement.

Yes, I’d rather have an adult as commander in chief, even an adult with overly aggressive military positions, than an amoral clueless dolt like we have now.

Ok.... I guess the argument made for slavery reparations we hear from time to time is over then. Cuts both ways if you’re cool with that.

lol...

All of these statements are made without any credible proof.

This seems like 'fake news' to me.

Umm no that's a FACT! Unless you believe the vote counted was false and even then its still a fact and the "false" vote counting has to be proven, which it has not

For all the clowns that are bitching and moaning about the election results, let me remind you of the Votes by County Map. Trump is RED. Moreover, once it was determined that it was mathematically impossible for clinton to win, they stopped counting the red votes. So no one really knows how many actual votes BY WHICH TRUMP WON. This doesnt even count all the dead people, illegals and vote tampering done by the democraps. What a glorious sight this picture is..

As Tim has said many times, you can't exert change from outside.

Speaking as someone who holds Trump in extreme disdain, I applaud Tim for his ability to engage despite obvious and profound disagreements with Trump policy. The sad fact is that Trump was voted as US president by the American people. What do you expect Cook to do? Dissolve Apple in protest?

So many people quoting me saying the same thing. You know as well as I do that Cook quit Donald Trumps tech advisory role. Which is why I find it surprising he would then turn about face and go to a dinner held at the white house under Donald Trumps tenure.

A man who has been accused of raping women, who calls poor African countries "**** hole" countries, who refers to Mexican immigrants as rapists, who openly praises the fringe, far right nationalist, who is suspected by many to have colluded with Russia, who has isolationist policy toward our key trading partners, who mocks the disabled, who sleeps with porn stars, who defrauds students, who bankrupts companies, who cheats workers, who gets sued over three thousand times... does not have "opposing view." He has fundamentally flawed ideology that has to be resisted, if you believe in maintaining our democracy and value basic human dignity. That's how I feel about it. If these were different circumstances, I would have agreed with every word of what you said and generally feel the same way.

There is time for politics and for an open, engaged discourse. And there is time to simply resist. A policy of appeasement and cooperation didn't work very well against Hitler, Stalin, Putin, or any other self-centered, autocratic individual. Trump appeals to the same basic element.

Also, being defiant does not mean one has to be ignorant, either.

No one stopped counting votes. That's a blatant lie. We know exactly how many votes were cast for him and they were fewer than those cast for Clinton.

Keep living the fantasy though...

All this proves is that the we need to change the electoral college and go with a popular vote.

Which we all know Trump lost.

I mean, shouldn’t Democrats own that?

You realize that parties in the United States have "flipped." The old Democrats are today's Republicans and vice versa. Which is why so many get worked up when Republicans have the audacity to call themselves the party of Lincoln.

This explains it pretty well.

As for the point, we as society should absolutely own the issue of slavery and reparations should be made. The same happened in Europe and many families who lost homes and wealth because of the Nazis are to this day being compensated by the government. Some measures have expired, but others still pay out benefits today. Some offer healthcare, social programs, etc. Look it up.
