I don't have to look it up. Lower deficit doesn't mean surplus. Of course our debt has gone up under Obama and the situation is about to get a lot worse with the so called "tax cut." Projections are that we'll have a $1 trillion deficit by 2020. What do you think will happen to our debt then?
The last time we had a surplus and therefore reduce our national debt was during Clinton era. Bush put us in a massive hole with two wars and an economic crash. Obama's policies resulted in one of the largest reductions to deficit in history. And that's just one of the many accomplishments of his Presidency.

It is the Democrat Party who want to import millions of no/low skilled laborers into the workforce who disproportionately impact Black and Hispanic communities.

Kudos for Tim for going and trying to get done what he can. Whether you like Trump or not, there are some things that benefit the US that can be done (and are happening) with Trump in the White House that would never be an option with almost anyone else who would normally be in the White House. Tim's got the right idea- to work with whoever is there and get done what he can get done. I admire Tim's mature approach to all of this.

Don't fret. Just about every 18 year old in this country will be voting in November at the current pace of registration. Will will have President Pence by then until Jan 2021. At least he admits God gives him personal commands, not random voices.

Anyway, Trump's tech team chose to disband after Charlottesville. Supposedly it was due to Trump's comments. Whatever you think of his comments- whether it was equal blame or not- it's clear the tech advisory council disbanded to save face.
It should be noted that tech companies themselves don't really have a moral leg to stand on, as many of them conduct business in countries with appalling human rights records and have used "conflict minerals" in their products. Saints, they are not.
This event wasn't about Trump. It was a State Dinner honoring France and our shared history; an event like this is the pinnacle of diplomatic relations and is a hot ticket item if you're invited. There were a lot of people there who I'm sure hold total disdain for Trump, like Christine Lagarde who is the Managing Director of the IMF in Europe. Nonetheless, they accepted the invitation, because sometimes you have to put politics aside. State Dinners don't happen all the time, and they are good opportunities to establish connections and relations.
Let them have that. It's all they have....a bunch of votes that didn't amount to a hill of beans.

Obama also did a tax cut for the middle class early in 2009. it amounted to 50 additional dollars (after taxes) a paycheck which is something considering we were in a recession at the time. I truthfully don't think we needed a tax cut right now. We can't afford to pay the bills. We need to be cutting down on military spending and educating folks for jobs that exist right now. Instead we are cutting taxes when the bills aren't even paid. Why are people happy about that? People are going to give up $700+/month in healthcare so they can get an extra $50 a paycheck. It doesn't make any sense.
What's funny is how "red" used to mean Soviet and Trump has brought it back to meaning that again. Aside from everything Mueller is digging up, just the one moment where Trump went on TV and asked the Russian government to please hack his opponent's emails (which were also official communications of a former Sec of State) to help him win and even promised in that moment that they would be "greatly rewarded"... and then they DID... and then he DID reward them with his constant torpedoing of sanctions (as Flynn and Sessions promised them he would in all those meetings they lied under oath about "not attending").
That moment was an act of treason against the United States. So go ahead and keep whining about how I "hate" him. I was a libertarian-leaning swing voter who often voted Republican, but I will NEVER vote for the party that has embraced his treason. The GOP is no longer the party of limited government and freedom, it is the party of Putin, protectionism, tariffs, money-laundering, dictator-praising, and devotion and service to one man over the country. I hate the current President because he is a recruited Russian asset committing actual treason against this country and I already have a bottle of champaign ready for his impeachment hearings.
