"Apple CEO Tim Cook Calls AirPods 'A Runaway Success,' Says 'It's Been a Great Holiday'".

¿A Great Holiday? Maybe for you. Bring brand new UPGRADABLE (no soldered SSD or RAM) Mac Pro and mac mini. Do not forget a brand new Apple Thunderbolt display. The iMac is a waste of display when CPU becomes obsolete (about 7 years, versus more than 20 for displays). Do not waste. Protect planet Earth!

But the question remains, do these Airpods work with an Android phone? Or a Windows laptop? These do look like okay wireless earbuds, and if they were cheaper I would consider getting them to toss in my bag to use with my laptop for at college, rather than have to take my somewhat cumbersome over ear headphones.

If Airpods don't work at least as well on non apple devices, then apple is missing a decent number of potential buyers.
Well they do work with non-apple devices. Obviously you won't get the Siri integration etc...

Apple earbuds always fall out of my ears and since these are designed the same, they would fall out and be lost in less than a day. Instead, I purchased a set of Bragi "The Headphones". They fit into your ear better, they can be switched between canceling outside sounds or allowing the sounds through, they cost less and function better, doing more than Apple's earbuds. Why spend more and get something which doesn't work as well and doors less? I just don't get the blind allegiance to Apple. Open your eyes and look around!

That's exactly the problem. A lot of people are stupid enough to fall for the 'emotive' pitches, thinking it's the greatest thing. It's like believing and living in a lie in denial. That's how Apple likes to spin things to their favor in a 'holier than thou' attitude. You can thank Cook and Schiller for that.

Or it could just be simply due to the fact that people do not need to get permit from forum member here to like and buy a product? It is quite simple, but I don't expect trolls to understand it.

Well of course it's a hit. When you take away the headphone jack , you don't leave people many options.

Except almost all the choices you had before (minus 1 antique hole of course)

I was interested in the AirPods, as my EarPods are broken and hang up phone calls, start and stop music without me pressing the button.

I thought they were a little pricey, but I really like the EarPods, the fit and the sound, so I was going to buy them after checking out reviews on them.

All the reviews are mostly positive, except a few negatives that are not being reported that much. One being that the only way to adjust the volume on the AirPods during a phone call is by physically touching the phone and change the volume.

It cannot be done by the AirPods or the AW if you have one. The AW can change the volume, just not during a phone call. So, if you have the iPhone in your backpack or purse, you cannot easily adjust the volume like it is advertised on their website.

This is a deal killer for me, which sucks because I was hoping for a somewhat seamless replacement for the EarPods. This isn't being reported that much, so I guess this doesn't bother most people.

I love my AirPods. They are great. But I agree with volume adjustmant is a let down for sure, especially when on a phone call. Can't be done with AppleWatch as you stated which is a shame. If apple allows volume control with watch crown as a default action (instead of wake the screen, time travel) for this product will be complete.

They do work with all devices that use Bluetooth. The pairing process with non Apple devices though is the standard one through settings and not the new easy pairing used with iPhone.

Can't really see them doing that much damage after reading some of these statements.

The fact is that long term exposure to all these EM waves (WiFi, cell phone towers, bluetooth, etc.) is not known, or, as in the case of cigarettes, is intentionally suppressed by industry. Humans evolved over millions of years without exposure to these things, and now within a relatively short time period we are heavily exposed to them. To simply assume that it's okay is not realistic.

Whenever I hear them talk at one of the events, and especially when I hear one of Ive's spots discussing the design of the latest magical product, this is what I think:

https://s3.amazonaws.com/hark-audio/58ef0daf-a3f2-4577-9596-4e4b1eef1e70.mp3

Has he ever said or implied anything other than "every product is amazing and the best ever and the most successful"?

He's just complete PR & hyperbole quite frankly.
Totally useless information.
Not useless at all. If a product doesn't sell well, he's simply not gonna talk about it. I'm gonna guess the Apple Pencil doesn't sell so well, because I haven't heard Tim mentioning it.
Other than that, most apple products DO sell extremely well, so what is he supposed to say to the media?

I would have jumped on these but the lack of a dedicated skip and go back controls turned me off. I don't want to use Siri. If I'm in class or at the gym or anywhere else for that matter I don't want to be asking my headphones to skip a song. That's ridiculous.

Given how badly the normal apple earphones fit - they don't stay in my ears and sound leaks out - these really don't look any better.. Don't know why they didn't fit some rubber things round it to fit snugly the way seinheiser do... So not a great design really...

I really love my AirPods. Pairing and cross device works perfectly, I'm happy with the sound quality, and they fit great in my ears. Best earphones I've had in while. Great for running as well, they stay perfectly put. But I guess I must have perfect ear shape for AirPods. Well done Jonny :)

It's the best Apple product in years and I expect them to make improvements when it comes to battery life, Siri interaction and design.

It's over three years since Google tried to sell Google Glass.

I hope people at Apple have used this time to create Augmented Reality glasses that really works. Apple is in a very good position to get a lead in this trillion dollar market.

1) Apple has stores so they can have trained employees that knows about visual defects when people try out glasses.

2) Apple understands that augmented reality is not about fancy 3D graphics and shooting monster in your living room (like Microsoft, Magical Leap and Meta seem to think), but to create glasses that are light weight, looks nice and useful in your everyday life.

3) Apple has a closed system so they can control what kind of software you are allowed to install on the device, which helps when it comes to privacy.

4) Airpods fill fit nicely with the glasses.

People have different shaped ears. Fact of life so get used to it. You found the solution that suits you. Great.
Please note that I have never tried any of the earbuds that came with my Apple devices for more than a few minutes. It didn't take me long to decide that I prefer over the ear headphones. That is my choice and I live with it. Not everyone is the same and I don't think Apple would moan that you didn't get on with earbuds.
Now if Apple made devices that would only work with Apple earpieces then I think you would have a valid argument. They don't (yet?)

I use the corded earpods to make calls to reduce my exposure

It is save to say that your brains are not at risk :)

How many of you have already lost on of these AirPods over the fast few weeks? Technical they might be a marvel, but how easy is it to losse one of these in a bus, train or airplane when you are in a hurry?

Even though these are the same shape as EarPods they are MUCH less prone to falling out because there is no cord or anything pulling them out. My wife has the same complaint about EarPods but cannot make my AirPods fall out of her ears.

That said: people certainly have different anatomy. The EarPods and AirPods fit my ears _perfectly_ where they just aren't quite right for my wife's ears. If Bragi fits you better that's definitely a reason to go in that direction. That doesn't make them objectively "better" though.. it just may make them better for YOU.

You obviously haven't used AirPods or you would understand the advantages they bring for the extra $10 over Bragi Headphones. Here is a quick list:

- Instant Pairing
- Instant switching to any iCloud device
- Call answering from Apple Watch when listening from your phone (currently not possible with any other headphone)
- Beam forming microphones that are awesome (they sound really good)
- Auto-pause when you remove one from your ear while listening to music
- Charging case
- 24 hours of usage with case
- The case is crazy tiny. Fits in your jeans pocket without fuss.
- Lightning cable charging so you don't need to carry any other types of cables while traveling
- Integration with iOS that gives you things like each individual AirPod showing up in the battery widget.

If you haven't used AirPods then you just can't understand just how "frictionless" Their usage is. I said somewhere else that they almost shouldn't even be classified as an "earbud"... they are a new type of WEARABLE. I never want to take them off!

i am sick of these hate replies..if you dont like it, dont buy it..i dont understand what this hate...
[doublepost=1483011064][/doublepost]sometimes, i doubt, none of these folks (who are complaining about this and that),never used an apple product.

p.s: i never used an apple product but i am getting my First macbook pro this Jan. i always admired their "stable" performance.

Except for visible light, emitted from the sun, or infrared, emitted from literally everything that is not at 0K, cosmic microwave radiation, and indeed some dangerous types of electromagnetic radiation such as ultraviolet and X-Rays from the sun, gamma radiation from natural isotope decay which happen to be orders of magnitude more energetic than visible light instead of orders of magnitude LESS energetic than visible light like frequencies used for WiFi/Bluetooth/3G/GPS are...

But yeah sure maybe there's somehow a damaging effect of non-ionising radiation that somehow isn't shown with all the naturally occurring radiation (which is identical) that uses an unknown mechanism completely different than the dangerous ionising radiation that somehow eluded both doctors and actual patients as while cell phone use skyrocketed in the last decades the number of patients hasn't.
