These things are dangerous, the signal from airpod to airpod - travels directly through the brain. No thanks

Cook wants to literally "cook" your brains.

You do realise Bluetooth uses non ionising radio waves, you know, the radio waves that DON'T cause cell mutation? But hey, let's just bash anyway, right? This is macrumors, the home of the bashing trolls.

.. most of which are posting, as so, in order to get products to review in the future. Apple is notorious for this tactic.

Just like Samsung are notorious for paying trolls to bash on Apple sites, say, like this one

The signals for most wireless devices aren't directional. They emit in all directions. A cell tower doesn't send communications like a cable through space - the signal going to your phone is also going to your dog house and the heavily forested area five miles down the road. Doesn't matter if your phone is connected to it for voice or just pinging it sporadically or totally off.

Furthermore, if you're worried about the microwave radiation from cell phones you should stay inside with the lights off somewhere hundreds of miles from any cell towers. Lightbulbs emit microwave radiation. The sun does too, and at *actually dangerous* strengths.

Microwave ovens, operating at approximately 5,000 TIMES the strength of your cell phone's microwave radiation, are still unable to damage DNA. Sure, it might create a ton of heat and the heat could damage the DNA, but the microwaves themselves would not.
You can do what ever you want to do..
I think right now the evidence is quite slim, just the same, I will keep my phone away from my head,
you use your phone as you see fit.

LOL ol'd Timmy apparently doesn't read MacRumors.

Faults and all, the AirPods are for me the most exciting product Apple has released in years. I use mine all day long. Something that I never did with prior earbuds or headphones.

Cook is a complete PR whore.

That's quite a statement coming from someone with an avatar like yours. Tim Cook has lead Apple to unprecedented levels of growth and profitability, while taking a stand for environmental responsibility and civil rights. What have you accomplished lately?

What else is he going to say, "they suck"? He'll say everything is sunshine and rainbows, but then silently sell his own Apple stock. lol

I'm pretty sure I read an article about how the headphone wires take that phone signal and focus it straight through your brain more than you'd get just putting the phone to your ear.

Are you sure, or just slightly sure? A link might help you prove the unproven.

Walked into the local Apple Authorized Store (we don't have an Apple Store in Victoria, BC, which boggles the brain) and bought a new pair of AirPods. Loving them so far. Without the cords, you almost forget you're wearing them. Nice.

'Cause you live on an island which costs a fortune via BC Ferries to travel? Just sayin'.

That all sounds fair enough i just think we should all be aware of any potential danger, however small. Instead of mindlessly just accepting everything big corporations throw at us.

It's simply amazing that there are so many negative comments in this thread. This is a benign article. Most of the people criticizing are just here to troll. I've got news for you. The iPhone is doing fine. Air Pods are apparently killer. My new 2016 MBP is awesome. I am sure the new iMac will be outstanding as well.
Apple has their missteps and can rightly be criticized for some things but they still make great products that people buy in huge numbers. In fact, consumers pay a premium to buy them and don't seem to flinch.
If you prefer another brand or plan on ditching your current Apple product, that's fine. Why visit here? Go spread the gospel of Google, Samsung, Dell or Microsoft to others. Everyone is always saying competition is good for Apple. In fact, it's Apple that's been good for it's competitors. Microsoft was in a coma for many years until they got their clocks cleaned by being irrelevant in the mobile market. Google had to rework Android when the first iPhone was introduced because what they had sucked goat balls.

And that's exactly where they belong, and will stay, in the accessory category. They're just wireless earphones after all.

"PR speak is one thing, but we'll see just how well the quarter went at the next call."

I'd say it's looking pretty good. Last September when Apple released their Q4 2016 report, revenue for the quarter was stated at $46.9 billion. What's interesting though, along with that report, Apple provided revenue guidance for the following Q1 2017 quarter of between $76 billion and $78 billion, a huge increase. Apple has always been very conservative on guidance so I suspect it will be somewhere around there.

Guess that can be attributed to holding back supply of Apple products to stimulate demand, right?

So what you're saying is Q1 2017 will be basically right in line with Q1 2016 despite several new product launches including a major revamp of the MBP lineup, the Apple Watch Series 2, new Beats as well as the AirPods and the iPhone 7? Pardon for pointing this out, but where exactly is the huge increase you're crowing about, Snaps?

Ready to have your mind blown. There were no product leaks prior to the AirPods.

They're an accessory for goodness sakes. Who cares a flip about them? Most people are concerned about computers and mobile devices.

To his credit, every time he does say something like that, he has the facts to back it up.

You're kidding me right? When has he ever talked numbers? It's always "amazing", "great", "best ever". If anything he's super vague.

The huge backlog in demand shows that tons of people do want them. As much as they might want new computers and mobile devices, if not more.

Cook called the AirPods a "runaway success." "We're making them just as fast as we can," he said.

Tim has his head up in a dark place and it's been there a goodly while.

He doesn't need to speak numbers. The numbers are there at the end of every quarter for you to look at. They're a public company, you can go through their financials as you please.

And surprise surprise, the numbers often back up his statements.

Which makes me wonder, why do they even bother asking.

"What's coming next?"
"How was the launch of X product?"

Why not be more creative with the journalism. Ask something out of the ordinary.

Because he's the most scripted CEO on the planet. If you ask something "out of the ordinary" he'll talk about some environmental impact, or how apple strives to be environmentally conscious, or how they care about users privacy, or one of his favorites, how they "enrich peoples lives".
