What's truly funny is that all along the media have told us to be worried that Trump wouldn't concede and that his supporters would never accept the result if Hillary won....Trump wins and we are seeing that behavior from Hillary and her supporters. Hillary wouldn't publicly concede on election night (instead she privatedly called Donald and had Podesta send her supporters home) and her supporters won't accept the result (#NotMyPresident, protests and riots).

Yep, most Americans (especially the ones voted for Trump) still living in the illusion these manufacturing jobs will come back to USA. Globalization, competition and technology changed the world and Americans gotta adapt to this new order. Trump won't save them from this reality.
Trump's complaint, and shared by many others, has much more to do with Ford trying to move every single sedan sold in the USA to Mexican production plants than it has to do with building iPhones. Those aren't dirty, low-paying jobs we're talking about here.

Soon we're gonna see a Macbook Pro, Hillary edition. It will be blue, and leave you hanging, in the time you need it most. It will be excellent at permanently deleting you emails, and the only keys that will not work well will be the S, J, and W. The slogan will be "grab the apple by the poosy". It will come with a card game called "the victim card", and will Trump all MBPs before it.

I wasn't going to contribute anything to this thread, but dude... You are too freaking funny. Thank you for that. This is the first solid laugh I've had in a long time. :D

get over it and move on...

Trump's base has two pools. Poor, rural, uneducated people who are outwardly racist, love guns and Jesus, and attend rallies at night in pointy hoods. The other is rich, white, and often at least college educated people who are voting solely with their wallets and don't really give a damn about anyone else.

And are, quite possibly, closet xenophobes. And they might be so far in the closet that they don't even know it.

The former get all the attention in the press, but the latter put Trump in the White House.

Holy broad brush batman! This type of comment is essentially why there was a ghost vote for Trump. They arent racist, selfish or bad at all. They just simply are sick and tired of being called all the things you just said. There is an entire world out there you apparently havent seen to believe this type of tripe. They either hang up on pollsters or lied to the pollster to give them the finger.

People shocked by this election need to do the exact same they claim the other side needs to do. Mix it up with the other side and talk. Quit being elitist.

I'm with you on the personal insults stuff. There was no need for it and it only makes him look bad. That said, there's a big difference between an off-hand personal insult -- and let's remember he's never been a politician -- and actual policy he espouses.

What's racist about a wall? It's just steel, brick, and concrete. You can't find a single history book claiming the Romans were racists for building Hadrian's Wall (though it's probably coming some day). His ban on Muslims was very quickly clarified to be exclusive to countries from where there's currently no possible way to vet a refugee. That's defending the US citizen and I'm fine with that.

So it's okay to insult people if you are not a politician? My mom, grandma, and teachers all taught me that personal insults are not okay, under any circumstances, period.

As for walls, okay, walls by themselves are not racist. But Trump calling Mexicans rapists is. And he keeps implying most Muslims are either terrorists, or helping harbor terrorists.

Because those people are emotionally unstable and have an irrational view of American politics that is based on fear and hatred for their fellow citizens.

I think you vastly underestimate how dynamic a relatively free country is in the US. We could build out everything you describe in 5-10 years and probably faster, similar to the timeframe it was done in another country. Do we want to do it? The better question is - is there a company in the world who thinks it is worth the cost/benefit of current US laws and regulations to attempt. "We" could do it no problem.

Pfft. The laws are not the issue. We have a republican congress and a republican president. They could re-write whatever laws they want with the exception of the constitution.

The real issue here is, is it worth it? The only way I see it it being worth the effort to bring back manufacturing in the U.S. is to automate everything.

If you are a worker in a plant that builds Carrier HVAC systems, I got news for you. Your job is gone. The only thing that is in question is whether Carrier HVACs are built by a Mexican or a robot.

The Republicans control government now. And its not because they cheated. Its because democrats stayed home. Here is what mom, grandma and teachers should have taught you - decisions are made by people who show up.

Suck it up Tim!!! The party is over. No more free stuff to people that do not want to work hard. You have to deserve to be able to get now.

All those retirees and country folk are going to be real upset when he guts Social Security, Medicare, and their precious SSDI.

No, I said it wasn't okay to use personal insults. Should I view your post implying I said otherwise as an "insult"?

And I'll be about the fourth person in this thread who's had to point out that Trump said some illegal immigrants from Mexico are rapists, etc. Is he wrong?

Politically correct much? If you are some fat slob sitting at home on your mom's couch, don't be so hurt when someone calls it like they see it.

The smartest Human that ever lived never finished High School - Einstein. Steve Jobs never finished College, these two men were "UNEDUCATED" . Sorry but people learn more in life then at any school. And I saw a great item on line today --

When all the non-racist, non-misogynist, non-homophobic, non-bigoted, everyday ordinary people get so sick of you calling them racist, misogynist, homophobes and bigots that they go out and vote against you candidate, do you L

a. Reevaluate your personal conduct and strategy of convincing people to share your politics?

or
b. Call them racist, misogunists, homophobes, and bigots and yell at them even more?

According to most of my timeline, you chose B. And that is exactly why your candidate lost.

Trump is a consummate con artist and is thus skilled at manipulating people but for his own selfish ends. The Democratic party needs a candidate with the skills of a con artist but used in the service of legitimate issues that benefit most people and the planet. In other words, a real leader. Hillary was not that person; Bernie was (not a con artist but with charisma and communication skills).

He never said that - the actual comment was taken out of context - he was talking about DRUG TRAFFICKERS in that quote - look at the whole thing - and no I didn't vote Trump I wrote in RAND PAUL .

I on the other hand will be laughing all the way to the bank. They need to do away with all these social programs. Including public education. My kids go to private school. Why do I have to pay for some nitwit's kids to go to school?

Oh I see. If you are uneducated, you must be like Jobs and Einstein.

And you wonder why some of these people are sitting at home praying that their low skill manufacturing jobs come back from China.

As far as I know Apple's hiring practices are inclusive. Who are they shutting out?

The popularity of Calexit suggests exactly what Apple should do. Leave the rest of the racism and bigotry in USA behind for their own California country.

Calexit.

So Californians can have fun defending themselves against any other global power interested in their natural resources...

And with quenching the thirst of the southern half of the state...

And with trying to sell their stale agriculture products back to the mainland when the mainland can grow its own crops in the south and supplant that with urban farming.

To all of the Californians pining for that future... well, good luck.

But if Californians can pull off Calexit, then they will be able to nominate HRC as their first president.

How'd that fundraiser work out Tim? Did it go the way you thought it would? No? Perhaps you should lead Apple, stay out of politics unless it's regarding the governments over reaching attempts to weaken iOS security. If you haven't noticed Tim you recently just got out Appled by Microsoft.
He's a private citizen. He's entitled to his own political beliefs, and to take whatever actions to support those beliefs that he so chooses. That's his prerogative—as an American citizen. Suggesting that he or anyone else (with the exception of federal employees) should "stay out of politics" spits in the face of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

Man you really are out of your mind. All I was pointing out that EDUCATION does not mean INTELLIGENCE - and that HARD WORK is far more important then EDUCATION.

Do you know why those jobs went to China - because our government was more hostile to business then the FREAKING COMMUNIST. If that doesn't get you to understand the problem with over powerful government controlling everything from DC nothing will.

I think what Trump said, when talking about Mexicans who are in the US illegally is that "some of them are rapists". Do you think that is not a true statement? Can you vouch that none of the illegal Mexicans living in the US are not rapist?

No, I'm sure there are some Mexican rapists, just as there are white rapists, Asian rapists, black rapists, rich rapists, poor rapists... you get the idea.

It's using "there are Mexican rapists" as an excuse for deporting illegal immigrants that I disagree with. Deport them, don't deport them, there are arguments for both sides. "Because some of them might be rapists/criminals" is stereotyping, and casting bad light on an entire group of people, and that, to me, is racism.

Here's a real story that impacted someone: My sister-in-law is a school teacher who spent a few years in a non-affluent, non-white, non-rural, and certainly heavy Democrat area. She's been a very liberal thinker and voter but what caused her to shift her political views was a comment from one her students that went like this... "when I grow up I want to be like my daddy; sit on the couch, watch TV, and drink beer". It shocker her and made her think that what we've been doing for decades not only doesn't work, it's destroying people's futures.

Californina will start out dead broke and will have no one in the rest of the USA to bail them out. A huge welfare state with no money behind it to steal won't work, go for it - I will be happy to never see the 55 electoral votes in the USA again and will look forward to never seeing anyone with ideas like Hillary in the White House.

I'm totally against Trumps back door talk..clearly he misspoke and didn't know all the technical facts, and shut his mouth quick.

But I agree with Apple bringing some jobs back to the US. They don't even store their globs of cash here, they bank overseas to avoid the higher tax penalties.

They don't make a single idevice in the states, they probsbly don't make anything here anymore except for a few Macs. It's shameful to be honest.
Who's going to build it? No one in the rust belt is educated enough to build anything right now. They relied on trade barriers and "whiteness" to get by. In the long run those things don't work. You actually have to be educated and that requires constantly upgrading your perspectives and ways of doing things. Otherwise you get left behind and you have no one to blame but yourself.
