Too bad we couldn't vote Cook out in 2015.
Yeah, him and a few others'.

People assembling the iPhone need not be qualified as such, they need 300k+ to assemble the iPhone.I'd have thought that a lot of component parts are readily available in the area of China which specialises and is geared up to supply the industry. If you manufacture in the US and have to order in parts every time you need them, then you are adding time and increasing inefficiency as well as cost.
Presumably it isn't just the manual labour of putting them together - haven't people talked before about a lack of engineers etc with the required skill / knowledge in the US?
Again, it would maybe be a little naive to think electronics firms just need a bunch of unqualified people of the street to do manual assembly work.
Well, I understand how progressives feel about this issue. But the thing to remember is this, The people who won on election night do not share this vision. Progressives have control of exactly zero branches of federal government. Zero.
Its a new world folks.
How wonderful it is to have someone with your background and perspective here in the forums! Cheers! As the generation that had first hand experience with Fascism has now died off, it quickly reappears. The Relative peace in the world since the last great WW2 is about over. As a person near 80, I do remember.
Our beautiful country is in for some very difficult times.
Should have known I'd get pessimism on MR![]()

So many Trump supporters lack an alarming amount of empathy for damn near anything. They're so angry by such blatant lies of the world, often incomprehensibly so. They trust random conservative click-bait blog sites but condemn CNN. They yell and scream when anyone challenges their bigotry, claiming bigotry by liberals for not tolerating their deplorable statements and beliefs. This country not only made a mistake on 11/08, it may have committed suicide. Whenever I'm not temporarily distracted by the monotony of everyday life, I think about how Hillary lost and how Trump is picking the next Secretary of State which sends me through bouts of extreme anger and sadness. The man is not only a jerk, a bigot, a sexist, and a racist; he's an unintelligent monster. He doesn't know things about government that children are taught in middle school. His election isn't normal, it should never be accepted or tolerated, and it should be fought until he's out of office or until our dying breath.
That's a semantic distinction. He didn't use Apple'a name or likeness, so the default assumption is OF COURSE that he's doing it as a private citizen. You're the one projecting this Apple halo onto him.Post #47
Yes, we do vote against our own (short term) interests. That doesn't make us idiots. You should consider why we do it before jumping to conclusions. Here's a hint: it has a lot to do with that education teaching us important critical reasoning skills. In my humble opinion, these so called educated people who voted for Clinton are idiots. They are voting against their own interests.
Agreed. It's like, if a candidate ran on the platform of "free ice cream for white people", you'd get a bunch of folks claiming that any white people who voted for the other candidate were "idiots...voting against their own interests." With no consideration of what is fair or just. The bit about "so called educated people" is telling. Many conservatives seem to have a huge dislike for intelligence and science, because they're inconvenient. Facts can't be overcome by impassioned speeches.Yes, we do vote against our own (short term) interests. That doesn't make us idiots. You should consider why we do it before jumping to conclusions. My original response to your Electors petition was "not happening." You called it pessimistic.Where exactly is the "sugarcoating"?
Also doesn't take a rocket scientist to see all of Trump's flaws and fails especially as of recent ( mostly on social media )
The only reason leftists need reassuring and calming by their bosses like Cook is because they bought into globalist lies propagated by the corporate media (including social media) that pandered to their broken ideology for so long. 8 years of leftist brainwashing and echo chambering left them shellshocked by reality.
The reason I'm apprehensive of Trump is he has no understanding and respect for the First Amendment. Listening to the right, it sometimes feels like they think the Second Amendment is all-important, but the Second is there so you can protect the First. Without the First, we have a pure democracy, which means ANYTHING the majority says goes. No protection of minority rights. And if Trump manages to shut the press up like he apparently thinks he should be able to do, we are all in deep trouble.
You do realize that there are three branches of government and that the POTUS cannot act alone.
ROFLOL. You actually bought what he was selling. You are in for one rude awakening.
And before you even think it. I am not for Hillary either.
But you were willing to trust them to a 70 year old woman? Assuming you voted for Clinton, I haven't read that you have or haven't so that is an assumption on my part and not meant to be insulting. At the moment, congress is controlled by a bunch of spineless Republicans, and Trump gets to appoint at least one Supreme Court justice. I'm not happy my rights depend on the health of an 80+ year old woman.
How exactly does socialism, ie the fundamental belief in equality, ruin a nation?
I'd love to hear more about why you would think a mysoginist, racist, climate change denier who has no political experience is somehow the best man for the job of President?

There still is another branch of government that can counter. I'm not sure what Rights you are worried about, but I just don't see Trump going after the SCOTUS ruling on Gay Marriage.I admit I was a bit concerned about Clinton's age, but 70 isn't 80. Also, you are the one who brought up checks and balances. If Clinton had gotten elected, then the 70 year old and 80 year old women would have been checking each other.
Also, if something happens to the President, the position passes to the VP. Not exactly a check and balance issue if the President is older.
