Can someone please tell me what rock Tim's been living under since the release of the 6+? I guarantee you the same thought process is being applied to the iPhone 8, all part of the Hype. At this point next year Tim will be shocked at the demand for an OLED iPhone. smh.

Well, if you put more tech in the Plus and the price difference is not that much, why would you not think that most people would just get the Plus over the 4.7" single camera phone?

It's a no brainer, so saying you didn't think demand would be great is a lie.

Could have sold a lot more iPhone 7 if it had the same features as the Plus

Why would they do that? They want that extra $100

Hey Tim, I don't think the demand was all that big for a plus-sized phone. Although, there's definitely a demand for the better camera. So when you pull an annoying move by restricting the nice camera to the plus-sized model only, then of course more people are going to buy that one.... duh. What you should be doing is making the same phone in 2 different sizes. That's what people actually want. I'd love to have the iPhone 7 Plus features in the iPhone 7 size.

Nope.

People clearly want a larger phone - and the camera is the same on the 7+, it just has an extra lens (which is rarely used), and portrait software feature.

According to Cook, Apple learns from its mistakes. "Every time we launch something, we learn something, and we brush up our models and apply everything we learn for next time," he said.

Then Tim Cook should learn to produce a red iPhone with a black front! :)

Well I sure hope they "learn" something from the 6 weeks waiting time for the AirPods. That was rediculous.

You'd think they'd have a market research budget second to none in order to address these sort of things.

They do. People change their minds at the last minute in large scale at times. I for one was convinced that the + was never for me. My family had 6+ models. I would look at them and think "What a gaudy huge device." At the last minute I ordered a 7+ knowing that I had 14 days if I went into a state of confusion. I could never go back to the 4.7 now. Nor would I want anything larger in overall dimensions than a 7+ for a phone. :apple:

The problem is Apple needs to hit specific margins on their products (margins which have been under increasing pressure as of late). I doubt they could have put the extra hardware into the cheaper device.

I find it amusing how the small phone afficiandos use any difference to further their belief that small screen phones are better (for them). Reality is most people have no idea or care about camera differences, we've all just got used to larger screens and the plus really isnt that much larger than the non-plus model once you get used to it.

Well the 6 series is a gaudy device. Big or small. I stayed with my 5s until the 7 came along and Apple un-gaudied it. The little details mattered a lot. The 7 plus in matte black looks sexier in my eye to the new Samsung Galaxy 8 that people site as good design.
The 6 series was just the ugliest iPhone Apple could have ever delivered.

Try going to the gym or a hike with a gargantuan device. I love my iPhone 7 but take my SE to the gym and carry it with me far more than the Plus.
I love them both for different reasons. The regular size 7/6 added little value to the equation. I prefer to own a small and a large to the trade-offs of the 4.7" Especially with how affordable and capable the SE is.
Hopefully, the new models erase the trade-offs.

I go to the gym all the time with my plus. no problem. guess i just have bigger pockets than you?

If Tim and Phil were more in touch with their customer base, then they wouldn't be so surprised by the iPhone 7+ sales data. Apparently, he didn't learn or listen to Steve very well about how to run the company. From the missteps with the Mac Mini, MacPro, and the latest train wreck (MacBook Pro) Apple continues to build products that customers' can; by in large - do without. Since 1983, I can't recall a time when I ever lost confidence with the direction of the company.

Tim: "we didnt expect so many people to buy, essentially, the same phone as last year. And we improved margins by omitting a port. Brilliant!"

Apple did not expect so many people to choose the iPhone 7 Plus over the iPhone 7, according to statements made by Apple CEO Tim Cook during today's second quarter earnings call.

"One of the things we didn't get right was the mix between the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus," said Cook. "Demand was much stronger towards the iPhone 7 Plus than we expected." Apple's misestimation of the popularity of the iPhone 7 Plus led to some shortages of the bigger-screened device during the December quarter.

Apple sold the highest number of Plus models in the first half of fiscal 2017 than ever before, higher than the iPhone 6 and 6s lineups. Cook says it took Apple a while to "bring the iPhone 7 Plus into balance," something that occurred early in the second quarter.

According to Cook, Apple learns from its mistakes. "Every time we launch something, we learn something, and we brush up our models and apply everything we learn for next time," he said.

[doublepost=1493768039][/doublepost]Dear Tim, a bigger size, makes it closer to a computer, DUH, MANY people use their phone as a computer!
Call me when you need common sense

Yeah I can vouch for this. Most iPhones I see in the wild are 6S+ or 7+. Apparently the ergonomic factor is less important than bigger screen and dual-camera.

I've seen people at the gym with the 6+/6S+/7+. Looks ridiculous, but that's what they prefer.

Really? The 'master' of the supply chain didn't think the 7+ wouldn't be popular. I'm assuming he had the same idea about the AirPods that still have a 6 week waiting period. SMH.

And yet reports are the iPhone 8 will be "highly constrained". What did Tim learn???
Nothing.

Apple already manufactures upwards of 200 million+ iPhones every year. You think it's easy locking in extra millions of those 5.5" displays w/o knowing for sure what the demand will be? Besides which, it's not as if you can't buy a 7+ right today and walk out with one.

Why the double standards only applying to Apple? You think they should anticipate demand for 300 million iPhones?

Nothing.

Makes sense for Apple to not pre-manufacture too many AirPods as it's a brand new product and they need to feel out the demand. They obviously are ramping up now.

They're ramping up demand? Officially ship date is June from Apple.
