According to Cook, Apple learns from its mistakes...

Apple clearly doesn't learn from their mistakes as they continue to shove a failing category (iPads) down everybody's throat at the expense of professionals who rely on actual computers (the old Mac & MackBook Pros) and not toys to get real work done.

Yeah Tim that's pretty obvious! You put a better camera on a bigger iPhone and added some features. You basically crippled the smaller iPhone to begin with. That was your idea because you wanna jump into a bigger screen wagon like Android phones. You basically tapping your back on this statement. Saying to yourself you did good, I guess you silently saying that yourself too that you're better than SJ. Put that same camera on smaller iPhone we'll see how your bigger iPhone works. You probably gonna sell more iPad that way.

IDK, seems like he's playing coy. I find it curious he did not know especially since they kept some features from the 7 to make higher profits selling more of the 7+.

Now I can believe Tim being completely clueless about Macs, but that is a completely different Apple to fry.

Port removal, as much as I am in support of pushing future tech, is a ballache to consumers during the transitional period, especially Apple users since we are usually the ones thrust into it first. I know all about it because I went through the whole serial/parallel/SCSI to USB thing and boy did it hurt.

Thing is now we are being pushed through two at the same time. USB to USB-C and jack to Bluetooth.

It's a struggle but the payoff is worth it, trust me. But wow, I really didn't predict so many people to make this transition so soon and so willingly.

It's a good sigh though, more consumer support means a quicker transition. Let's just get it over and done with now, the sooner the better.
I used to remember back then getting excited because it's for the better. Apple's decision now is more on to make money. Sell more Beats wireless headphone. The audio part is not an upgrade it's a mediocre at its best. They would have waited or push for a better Bluetooth first. USB-C is not consistent to all Apple products, obviously they'll keeping Lightning cable as I mentioned to make more money. Getting rid of Magsafe is stupid!

Absolutely ridiculous, if not a flat out lie. The iPhone 7 PLUS is the only model with the "GOOD CAMERA." Even though many buyers of the PLUS hate it's +SIZE and +COST, they get it for the camera. I have the regular iPhone 7. The camera is OK, but I'd much rather have the camera of the PLUS inside the smaller form factor. Apple knew full well how sales would pan out because of what they deliberately did with the camera and pricing. To say what Tim Cook said about sales of the PLUS is highly misleading.

I also read in recent news that Apple is now making the Air Pods available without a huge wait time. Wow. Many months after announcing a product you finally ship it. To me, that is just as outrageous as an airline who calls in rogue cops to drag a paying customer (and medical doctor) off a plane only because the airline's computer picked him to leave due to the stupid airline's company policy of overbooking.

When companies do stupid things, we need to call them out on it, especially Apple, since all of us here are Apple fans. I may like Apple products, but I let the company know when they screw up by sending them feedback. I would encourage everyone here to follow suit. Just because Apple makes a huge amount of money does not automatically dictate all their decisions are correct. In many cases, Apple's decisions are not correct. We shouldn't let them get away with it just because we are fans of their products.

DISCLAIMER: I'm a Mac user and Apple fan since my 128k in 1984. I don't do Windoze. I have every right to boldly proclaim the facts about Apple.

It took me a month to get hold of an iPhone 7 Plus 32GB Matte Black back in December.

But this time around, I'll make sure to pre order earlier than x-mas time.

But yeah the reason I got the 7 Plus was due to better specs ( 1080p and 3GB of RAM )

In order to pre-order, you will need to do this before they are first available in Apple stores.

After they are available in Apple stores, you can order them.

Apple did not expect so many people to choose the iPhone 7 Plus over the iPhone 7, according to statements made by Apple CEO Tim Cook during today's second quarter earnings call.

"One of the things we didn't get right was the mix between the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus," said Cook. "Demand was much stronger towards the iPhone 7 Plus than we expected."

"Did not expect" ? I find that hard to believe. A marketing juggernaut like Apple shouldn't embarrass themselves like that. I think it's more of an excuse to appease the market about why there's a slow down in iPhone purchases. Much like his other statement about "a pause" in purchases that he blames on the rumours mill.
Funny, rumours over the past decade haven't hurt sales.

The truth is, lack of innovative new products and too many repeated designs, causes lethargy next to market saturation.
Apple's resting on Steve's laurels.

You mean Apple forces people to buy the products that Apple choses to produce? Oh my God!
Second Quarter net sales in 2017: $52.90 Billion versus $50.56 Billion in 2016. There are obviously a lot of people who like the products in those "failing categories."

Not buying the "Golly gee shucks we will do better next time" explanation and appearing to be mystified about market conditions when they have vast resources to identify those trends from the start.

It's an easier explanation for most to swallow and understand, especially with good numbers again, than the real reasons. Those could be supply chain or logistics issues, or low yield rates for some component on the 7+, which would be a lot more complicated for him to explain on an earnings call...as well raising some red flags or some doubt for similar things happening on future launches.

iPads are down quarter after quarter after quarter etc. Mac Pros & MacBook Pros and pro software are completely ignored by Tim Cook and Apple, yet Timmy still insists upon foisting iPads on everyone.

Most carriers were offering it for free. No one in my family was planning on upgrading until we found out about the trade in promotions.

People will want it if the iPhone fits their lifestyle. There are a lot of iPhone users who do not want a 5.5 inch display and Apple chooses to put all the technology into that specific iPhone model. Some prefer the 4.7 inch iPhone model strictly for the comfortability factor.

I think there are some users who will never want an iPhone that large, no matter what technology is packed into a 5.5 inch display. Some prefer the portability and convenience of a smaller iPhone with out all the other features.

That said, I really enjoy the 7+, but I can see why it's not for everybody.

I am one of those - put [some of] the features of the Plus a smaller size and I will pay he Plus price.

Or everyone with smaller displays like me are holding out until something worth getting after the iPhone 6 comes out. :)

I wonder how the mix would be if they had put the same features (sans screen size) into all the iPhones. Is it the big screen that is the lure or the features not available elsewhere?
Couldn't have said it better.

When they have the courage to put those feature on the SE size, then we can talk about the sales numbers.

^^^^ Can't love this comment enough. Went from a 4S to a 6, and HATED the size. The small candy bar form factor is great for a phone. Skipped the 6S & 7. I used to upgrade annually until the iPhone started growing in size. Got an SE when the 7 was rolled out and I realized that a top spec small phone would be a long time coming. Going to stick w/ the SE until an updated small form factor iPhone is released.

Not everyone wants to lug around a tablet sized phone. I would gladly pay the same price for an SE that has the small form factor, but similar internals as the top of the line phone.
