Completely false. I saw on tv that he was paid $1 per minute. Even when he was sleeping. That’s a lot of money dude..
The salary and total compensation packages of senior Apple executives are a matter of public record and filed with the SEC.

What you saw on TV was horse hockey. I love it. "I saw on tv..." is the same as "I read on the Internet..."

Keep digging yourself into a deeper hole.

We will never know what would have been had Steve Jobs never died.

I do feel that under Steve, the iPhone improved at a glacial pace. It wasn’t until iOS 7 that it became painfully aware just how behind Android iOS was in terms of features and functionality. Apple has done an excellent job closing the gap in the recent years, at the cost of some stability, and I feel it’s a fair trade off overall.

Where I do feel Steve’s presence is sorely missed is the dose of hindsight and common sense he brings to the team. We see Apple making way more mistakes these days, which is probably the downside of there not being someone like Steve standing behind you and telling you what a dumb idea it was. But Apple will learn from their mistakes and eventually get to the same end point; they will just take a little longer and have more bruises to show for it.

Apple is more than one man, and will survive Steve’s passing, and continue to thrive and prosper. That much I am confident of.

I think you’re wrong there. Steve would have absolutely noticed the competition and would’ve done something even more about it. There’s a quote somewhere of him saying how he was going to go to war with and destroy Android because it’s a stolen product. Sadly we never got to see that. I can imagine it would have been way more interesting to witness than Cooks whole peace & harmony approach.

Agreed with your comment ragarding Steve no longer watching over everyone to ensure they produce nothing but quality. I’m unsure however if they’ll be able to learn from their mistakes. They’re already making plenty of mistakes, you could say the notch as an example but that is apparently subjective.

I’m not really sure I’m confident in Apples future either. Steve left Apple with 5 years worth of products in the pipeline, which ran out last year. So you could say that the iPhone X was the first iPhone they designed without him, which was controversial with that notch to say the least.
I just don’t know. Personally, I want them to rehire Forstall and the few others who they fired from the software side because I think having a hardware guy (Jony) oversee the software is just wrong and is doomed to fail. They have redesigned iOS like what, 3 times now since iOS 7? When they feel the need to constantly do that, that just shows indiciciveness and tells me they’re lost and have no idea what they’re doing.

And Steve Ballmer didn’t have Jony Ive and his band of merry men either.

It’s a package deal, and they all complement one another to make up for each other’s deficiencies.

Oh yes the thin team. Real innovative group these days... Maybe now that they're done designing the desks at Apple HQ they can get back to coming up with some new products that aren't iterative upgrades or rips of other companies tech.

Why does Apple need to be revered in the pro world to be considered a success?

Apple isn’t a tech company to begin with. I see Apple as a design company responsible for making technology more personal to the end user. I love my Airpods, my Apple Watch, my Apple Pencil, my iPad Pro.

Your iGadgets explain why you dont think Apple needs to return to Pro products. :apple:

he used the plane as a politician

he keeps lecturing us about climate change, banning guns and how the US should have signed TTP and Paris agreement

meanwhile he uses a private jet and surround himself with armed security

and Apple keeps releasing glued un-upgradable overpriced obsolete products

worst affirmative action CEO ever, even worst then Sculley

......and that “Fashion” part of the assesory is fading while what’s under the hood decompensates. Tim is a Shareholder Tool.

I look forward to all the Tim Apologists defending Apple when they bring no overseas cash back in 2018 other than to buyback shares to pad the pockets of the shareholders. I am surprised his security costs are not higher. Prolly cause he is in such good shape.

As a shareholder I think he SHOULD do buybacks. What do you think he should do with it? Build a less efficient and cost effective infrastructure so that Trump feels better about himself?

Apple was a better company when it was solely supported by customers who really understood what they did well, during the years they were on the skids. Their success with the same masses who bought a new LG Chocolate every year and now buy a new iPhone every year have inured them to having to resemble anything of their former selves. I want to like Apple. I really do. That's why their financial success saddens me. Because it's a buffer between them and what their old, core customers appreciate. I say this as someone who watched closely as they nearly shuttered and was livestreaming the announcement of Microsoft's $150 million investment in Apple to help them avoid bankruptcy. I wasn't hoping for a financial fall then. But now I would like to see them take a huge hit. The market does not reflect the quality of their software, and I'm not just referring to the recent headline bugs. This has been a long time in the making.

The very fact that they almost went under was due to them trying to cater to those old core customers. From your post it sounds like you basically want them to either tread water so that you feel like part of some exclusive club or fail if they don’t give you enough attention.

Why is a non religious/political story in the religion/politics section??? It’s also not even a social story.... so... why?

Just curious

/rant

Because people always complain that people who worked their way to the very top should make minimum wage so that others’ feelings aren’t hurt. It’s a whole participation ribbon thing.

Apple will never return to the Pro products. Sure they might eventually drop a new Mac Pro at some point, but those iGadgets are what make the real profit. Apple has transformed into a lifestyle brand in the post PC era. Keeping the brand fashionable is more important for profit then chasing after a few Pro customers. HP, Dell, Lenovo can chase that low margin market because Apple is focused on maximum profit margins.

The one place they are falling behind is personal assistants. Apple needs to get going on this fast because Amazon and Google are about to take this market and never look back.

They are a tech consumer company. They are not a design company .... think more Sony ;)

The selection of devices you said you own, does though explain why you think of them as a "fashion" design company. Apple still have users that care very little for itoys, though Apple themselves are going where the money is , mass consumer electronics... itoys

Wage gaps have become astronomical. Not here to argue who deserves what. I did bold, underline, and italicise that for a reason. Most folks that try to do that have no idea what it takes to be CEO of a company, let alone a company like Apple. But boy, that's just amazing. Assuming starting pay at Apple is $20 an hour (just shy of $42k a year), that puts the CEO as making 2,428 times the lowest paid worker. This seems to just keep trending up as the years go on.
