Remember when Steve technically had a $1 salary?
Well, he was the co-founder and had significant holdings after Apple purchased NeXT, and more...Cook is now the CEO, but he was, and is, a hired executive.Remember when Steve technically had a $1 salary?
It’s clear that every commenter on the internet is the smartest and most competent person in the world—that’s why they’re commenting on the internet. He's the CEO of a multi trillion dollar company, yeah, he earned it.
You people act like management is easy.
Why?Completely outrageous that anybody makes this amount of money

God, this is such a silly, tired argument. Take a couple economics and business courses. Tim Cook is underpaid, if anything. It’s not 1,480x as hard as working as a store employee, which, assuming they make $50,000 (probably higher than a lot of them make for it was a round number so I went with it) he earned that much more.
I’m retired now. But if I was still doing publishing consulting and production for small businesses, Vision Pro would be a portable tool of choice—multiple displays and keyboard. Very cool, very compact. When working at customer locations, publishing consultants usually want to take up as little space as possible, be as invisible as possible, get the job done with excellence, get paid, disappear until the next project. I would use it for getting excellent quailty work done on schedule. No wonder he thinks “normal” people can afford an Apple Vision Pro. Absolutely out of touch with reality if that’s what he is payed!!
It's good to be the king
Apple CEO Tim Cook earned $74.6 million in 2024, up from $63.2 million in 2023, Apple said in its annual proxy filing.

Cook's earnings included a $3 million base salary, $58 million in stock awards, $12 million in performance-based awards, and $1.5 million in other compensation, such as 401(k) contributions, life insurance premiums, vacation cash-out, security expenses, and personal air travel expenses. Cook is required by Apple to use private aircraft for both business and personal travel.
Apple set a target compensation of $59 million for Cook, but Cook earned more through the cash incentive payout that executives receive when Apple performs well.
Though Cook's 2024 compensation exceeded what he earned in 2023, it was still down from the $99 million that he was awarded in 2022. Cook and the Board of Directors opted to decrease Cook's total compensation after his 2022 earnings reached almost $100 million.
Other Apple executives, including Luca Maestri, Kate Adams, Deirdre O'Brien, and Jeff Williams, earned $27.2 million.

No he's acknowledged that it's pricey, meant for early adopters. Also paid*No wonder he thinks “normal” people can afford an Apple Vision Pro. Absolutely out of touch with reality if that’s what he is payed!!
Most likely not easy. But there is no company without the employees. I imagine that amount of money would pay rise quite a few employees at Apple. Or anywhere for that matter. He's the CEO of a multi trillion dollar company, yeah, he earned it.

Why doesn’t he do it now?I am thrilled he’s going to donate most of it to charity when he retires.
Cook certainly earns his salary. He drives one of the most successful tech companies in the world, with 164,000 employees, selling 600,000 iPhones per day (on the average), and having 1+ Billion active and repeat Apple customers who love and purchase Apple products year after year after year.
And speaking of Apple employees... while other tech companies (google, Meta, Microsoft, LinkedIn, Yahoo, HP, Dropbox, Qualcomm, Cisco, Infineon, Intel, Intuit, Pixar, IBM, Expedia, Salesforce, eBay, Amazon, etc., etc.) had massive layoffs starting a few years ago, Apple had none.
Who are you to say he doesn't need that much? That’s an insane amount of money. No one needs that much. It’s just greed
