I see your point, but in general as a leader and coordinating Apple on a global level, he’s done well, even when the ‘Tim Cook needs to go’ naysayers were proven wrong again….again…..and again. He’s executed above and beyond, especially over the last two years.
Agreed on that front. Cook has done well, it's just trying to please Wall St can come back and bite Apple back. There is a reason why Jobs hated to do that. Not saying we should always ask WWSJD... but perhaps lessen the amount of buy backs and focus on other things.

Before Cook took over, Apple had no debt, now? It is high.

What does need to happen is for Cook start doing what his predecessor did with him, train the next one.
It's probably happening and we just don't know it.

This is what happened at my job since the last 5 years and we're over 10K employees.

Well, there are so many shares outstanding of Apple stock that it takes a significant amount of money to buy enough back to move the share price meaningfully to give the impression that Tim Cook is doing a much better job of running Apple than he really is. As the stock price goes up, the board applaud Tim for an outstanding job and they award him tens of millions in additional stock. Rinse, repeat.

How cute.....if by influential they mean coasting on his predecessor's legacy then yes

I'm not sure why he isn't doing that. You see Tim Cook everywhere alone. Steve was much more involved training and leading others. You would see him around with people all the time. With Tim Cook, he is just alone doing SOLO.

The same people seem to make this list every year. I swear they just have a list of names that they recycle.

a) he made it pretty clear he has no interest in that job

b) I believe him

c) I don't think he would be good at that job, wether he wanted it or not
You are correct. It could be any of them on this list.

Agreed, I don't see him training the next one and that's how good companies become bad. When external people come to run it and forget about the ideals that made Apple great in the first place.

There's absolutely no doubt in my mind Apple's board has a well thought out succession plan in place.

In any event, Tim's not going away anytime soon with the performance Apple has achieved under his leadership.

Wondering why people here are saying it’s time for him to move on? What exactly is he doing wrong besides making money for the company hand over fist and keeping products moving with all these supply constraints where others are seeing complete meltdowns. You just don’t like him? Are you putting your feelings in front of what’s best for the company?

That’s…..amazing. But I guess being influential does not mean “using your influence to improve people’s lives”.

This is embarrassing when Apple is unable to manufacture much of the hardware that got it here, due to supply constraints and pandemic.
