It seems most of the comments have not seen this part :
"Cook was derided on social media and in news articles for his bootlicking, but it has been successful for Apple. Apple continues to be largely exempt from the high tariffs that have been imposed on countries like China and India."

It's very easy to feel superior, pure and virtuous while sitting comfortably at home, but if the Big Mafia Boss comes to your company along with a bunch of thugs swinging baseball bats, and says "Nice company you have there. It would be a shame if something bad happened to it ", well, you pay the "protection" fee , because there is no police to protect you, the Don owns the police as well.

What would you have done instead ? Refuse and let him destroy Apple just to look like a heroic martyr ?
I actually feel bad for Tim Cook. He certainly knew he was going to be publicaly humiliated on social media , but he did what he had to do to protect Apple from the Orange Psychopath.

What would you have done instead ?
It also somewhat destroys the image apple has worked so hard to create. We'll see on the long run if Cook was right.

There is no difference between Apple, Meta, Alphabet, Microsoft etc., when it comes to cozying up to an American autocratic dictator. Remember that the next time the media mentions Huawei, DJI, BYD and CATL being Beijing stooges. If they also heap praises and give tRUMP a tacky trinket, there will be no ban or tariffs.

He actually did NOT win the popular vote. More people voted for other candidates than trump.
Unfortunately yes, sicko Trump did win the popular vote by getting the most votes of any single candidate, even though he got less votes than the combined total of other candidates.

‘I’m sorry Mr. President, it seems our schedules conflict. I’ll have my people call your people.’

I love South Park, but if this entire season is gonna be about Orange man bad, then they've lost me as a fan.

They did nothing on Biden, and nothing on Kamala, while giving Trump and Vance the Saddam Hussein treatment with the actual picture for their heads.

The bias is clearly showing.
Biden and Kamala were relatively unremarkable. Felon Trump however is dramatically disabling much of our government in all kinds of ways, setting the USA back decades. And Trump Corp's ongoing corruption boggles the mind. So yes, "Orange man bad" and South Park should skewer him repeatedly.

It would be hilarious to have a cameo with drooling Biden not having a clue what he did for the last 4 years. Hit every side, I say!

Pretty sure most criminals feel that way. Also pretty sure Trump is a would-be felon on a host of other crimes if he didn't stack the courts with his friends all of who are also cheats.

Dude....If you actually look at the charges against Trump they are completely ridiculous and they were never, EVER, a felony at any time before. They were upgraded to a felony only because it was Trump. It was purely to try and keep him from running again and it backfired spectacularly. If you walk around and ask people if Trump is a felon they will say "YES!" If you ask him what his crime was, 99% of the people would just look at you because they don't know and just parrot the "Felon" line that they've been fed.

I never was a fan of Tim Cook. Always found him dull and uninspired. A guy for the shareholders first and customers a distant second. Now it turns out he's spineless too.
The day he steps down will be a day too late.
I honestly thought Steve Jobs' handpicked guy might be a little more like him, but alas.

I still miss the South Park older episodes when they created a character to represented Trump without having to use his actual image. I guess not being subtle and just spelling it out is the new strategy going forward. South Park is not holding back anymore.
I also very much dislike seeing his actual face.

3rd party candidates got 3,058,275, so..

Trump: 77,392,580
Not Trump: 78,075,888

In my perfect world, you would have to have >50% of the vote to win. If no one gets that, then you have a run-off. Either way, he didn't get the majority of the vote. He got the highest percentage, at 49.8%, of the voters.

Enough with the orange-nosing, Tim.

Your math gymnastics are wild. Trump won the most votes. That's all that needs to be said. They mental gymnastics that liberals do to try and somehow lessen the fact that he won more votes than Harris is truly laughable.

Is it fair to say this is a left leaning forum? He did win the popular vote but everything so far is negative about him on here
Siiiigh. Name one positive thing, that has affected people's (who aren't rich) lives, that he has done. One thing.

Neither of those people caused even a quarter of the harm your guy is.

Cook 100% deserves all the flak he's getting from this decision.

Not sure if it’s just me, but the Trump administration, for all its flaws, appears willing to go after governments and entities who pose threats to US big tech. The numerous lawsuits that Apple were facing previously seem to be slowly turning around.

First, the EU has agreed to accept Apple’s latest revision of the DMA, even though it doesn’t really seem that different from previous incarnations.

Now, we have the UK backing off on wanting Apple to install a back door in their OS. IIRC, the previous president elected not to do anything about it at all.

The next one to look out for is the recent injunction by that Judge Yvonne which forced Apple to allow third party payments in the US App Store.

At the end of the day, Tim Cook has a job to do. He’s not here to fight any of your political or ideological battles for you. And if that just means more heckles and ridicule from people here, then so be it.

Yes Trump got more votes than Harris and Trump now is POTUS. But there were multiple candidates and less than half the voters wanted Trump to win. Simple math., not mental gymnastics that liberals do.

Folks like me [not a Dem] who consider having lifetime-corrupt DJT as POTUS truly horrible do try to do mental gymnastics to somehow make sense of the fact that our fellow citizens elected such a truly bad man. When everyone knew how bad ("I just grab 'em by the p*ssy") Trump was even before he was elected the first time.

I'm not a liberal, thanks, though. What I am, though, is someone who doesn't think that business should be messing with, or influencing, the affairs of the government nor should they be donating to politicians or parties. They don't vote, and they aren't citizens.

It's not mental gymnastics, and I didn't even like Harris. The fact is he didn't even win half the votes, simple. Yes he won, that how the system works.
