That’s a fair point and I get that a lot of the Ukraine funding flows back into U.S. defense contractors and keeps people employed here. But at the same time, it’s still taxpayer money being used to subsidize an industry that, in theory, should be able to sustain itself without constant government spending. If those companies and jobs only survive as long as the government keeps writing checks for foreign wars, is that really the healthiest long-term setup for the U.S. economy?

And I suppose you could argue that some of Ukraine’s weapons are being bought with money from other allies, but at least from the U.S. side, it’s still our tax dollars footing a big part of the bill.

The US has spent untold billions since 1945 to counter a potential Russian/Soviet attack.
Ukraine has at a high cost of their own blood has done irreparable damage to the Russian military and nation at the cost of no US lives.
Funding the Ukraine defence has been the best investment in US defence and foreign policy made since 1945.

It was a investment one that may be already paying dividends.
For now.

History doesn't look kindly on those on the wrong side of the fascist equation. Just ask the CEO's of German companies in the 1930s and 40s.
Overly dramatic perhaps. Let's hope so. But the way the US is trending ain't looking too good. Tim Cook may rue his decisions in the long run. Either way, it is as far as I'm concerned a massive taint on Apple. Gruber spoke bluntly, but correctly.

A MacRumors article calling Tim's actions bootlicking is the best thing I've read all week bravo!! Thank you!!!
I love how the first version of the article turned out to be filled with "original" words and then fully censored😀 Yeah I know myself how it feels to write a piece and then have editor screaming in the office like "bro *** did you just write, c'mon lets fix that".

P.S: ***💩 is still visible in the preview on the main page😃

Remember when you talked about having Trans and other LGBTQ friends and how all the talk about the Administration going after them was fake/nonsense/etc and you ignored all evidence otherwise?

Yeah, how’d that turn out? Still going to jump to defend Trump on that?

Lol bizarre that you remember something I said from months ago but you do you. And I don't diasgree with what Trump did and I don't have a problem with anyone gay or trans knowing that. I don't believe men should be in women's sports. I don't believe that men should be allowed in women's bathrooms. I don't believe there are more than two genders. I don't think schools should be allowed to discuss trans ideology with children without parental consent. I don't think that gender affirming care should be performed on minors. So no, I don't have a problem with what Trump has done in those areas.

You can argue that his immigration changes and cutting funding for Ukraine is better for all Americans.
How is ****ing over farms, which makes everything more expensive, and letting a dictator take over a country because we wouldn't give them our surplus weapons a good thing for anyone?

Nothing is cheaper. There are no more jobs. What has ACTUALLY gotten better in 2025 besides you feeling good about letting vulnerable people suffer?

Didn't this just happen? Wait I thought it takes years to animate and produce, that was like super fast. I don't usually watch or care for SP but that Meghan and Harry episode was hilarious and will watch this too.
South Park can make an episode in a week. There's an entire documentary about them doing it.

Tim should have done some "bootlicking" with Biden. Maybe it would have been enough to get Uncle Joe to Veto the ITC ruling against Apple.

Oh, who am I kidding. Joe received several million dollars from the former Masimo CEO, who also provided his house for Biden vacations.

Did Cook give him a free cloth to polish it with or did he charge him $20 for it? ;) I mean, Tim is ALL about a buck. I'm not a fan of Tim Cook the same way I wasn't a fan of Sculley (go sell sugar water you Apple II killer).

I've seen the first 2 episodes of the latest season of South Park and I thought they were pretty funny. I like any humor that pokes fun at people in positions of power (we can all use a little humility). SP can be a little too. Ahem. Explicit for my older tastes, but funny is funny and that sheet is good for a laugh. The Kristi Noem element was comedy genius and I loved it throughout the episode. Comedically irreverent in the classic South Park way. I'll be sure to catch the next episode soon.

Pretty sure most criminals feel that way. Also pretty sure Trump is a would-be felon on a host of other crimes if he didn't stack the courts with his friends all of who are also cheats.

No. We don't speculatively call people "felon" on things they may or may not do. That's not how it works.

The Trump NY case was literally the Rube Goldberg device of prosecutions. Take something that's a misdemeanor, elevate it to a felony to dodge the statute of limitations and make political hay in a venue where the defendant has absolutely NO CHANCE of receiving an impartial jury. It was all politically motivated in an attempt to make him ineligible to serve as President again and it backfired. They couldn't have made the man look more like a martyr had they tried to do so. It's part of the reason he's President today.

It was a very clear cut case of "Show me the man and I will show you the crime". The prosecution would never had gone after him had he not run for president again. In the process, they made him a legend to half the population.

This excerpt from Sagan's book 'The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark' comes to mind when dealing with Trump supporters.

So, he can only be called a felon if he's convicted in court?

But if he's convicted in court, it doesn't count because that simply must be politically motivated? He can dismiss cases against himself. Fire anyone that's ever investigated him. Replace the people overseeing the investigation. Threaten and dangle pardons at witnesses. Pay off accusers. Be judged by people that he appointed himself. Assign his own, personal lawyers to cases where he has potential involvement. Hide evidence. Avoid recordkeeping.

And you think the system is rigged AGAINST him? OJ was a murderer, and 47 is a convicted felon who has committed far more crimes than he has been convicted of.

Siiiigh. Name one positive thing, that has affected people's (who aren't rich) lives, that he has done. One thing.
The Dow, S&P, and Nasdaq have been at record highs, there's one thing for you. My 401k is doing really well as is the rest of my portfolio. I didn't vote for Trump or Harris by the way, but I did vote. I wrote myself and a friend of mine in for President and VP :)

So already well-off people got richer?

I cannot imagine saying something this selfish online while thinking it was a good thing.

Haha, wow. You're right, only the rich get richer when the stock market is at record highs. Good one. Also, trying to slam on people for being well off and continuing to "get richer" is something that isn't ever going to hold water, just FYI.

The top 10% own something like 93% of the stocks and the top 1% own 50% or so. And those shares are growing. If the stock market benefited 90% of the country, then they would be shrinking instead of growing.

The stock market being at record highs positively effects millions of Americans with 401k's. That's all I'm saying.

CategoryApproximate Number
Americans with 401(k) accounts~ 60 million
401(k) participants exposed to stocks (90%)~ 54 million

I feel like this is the one time we can safely say “this would have never happened under Steve”

The pragmatic “let’s just bribe the guy so we can do business as usual” I can see but he would have never humiliated himself with that stupid trophy song and dance

Also I really appreciate Matt/Trey (I can never remember whose voice that is) tried to get the inflection on Cook’s voice
