Like it or not, immigration and refugee acceptance is out of control. American is fundamentally broke (no money). We do not have the money to continue to provide free homes, groceries, iPhones, etc. to anyone that shows up at the door regardless of how humane it seems. Its time for the free ride to stop or at least be reduced to the really needy. I think that is what this pause is all about.

The previous administration wanted as many people as possible that were totally dependent on government for everything. It had nothing to do with compassion, and everything to do with votes. It was how they got elected. The middle class is bing sucked down the drain in order to provide poverty class support to everyone that wants it. That is not good for any of us natural citizens. Almost every other country in the world limits immigration and refugees and the ones that don't are in real trouble right now.

Exactly. Apple's product lineup has not been what it could be under his leadership. Or should I say bottom line ship. Tim is profit not product driven. And let's be honest Timmy, you care about your employees as much as you want us all to believe you do. I bit of hypocrisy here. But liberals are really good at that.

Nice try but Tim also donates to the republican party.

Oh, woosh

Why why is a temporary freeze on immigration to properly inspect the vetting process a problem?

Some permanent residents may have relatives in those countries. There are also temporary residents who may run into visa issues if they return to their respective countries of origin to visit family members. Some of them also be concerned about Trump's intentions for existing temporary residents.

Cook should spend more time thinking about Apple's products.

I suspect recent complaints about Apple have nothing to do with the amount of focus dedicated to product issues.

Just focus on your products Tim. No need to drag Apple into every political issue.

I agree and in the end it just makes Apple look hypocritical because they have no problem doing business in countries like Saudi Arabia where gays and women have few rights. He likes to talk the talk but not walk the walk if it affects Apple's bottom line.

I'm pretty sure, if you're carrying a current, valid, green card, and are being detained on entry, that your case will be expedited and you will be allowed in. IF Apple has any dicey employees on that detained list maybe Cook can post a surety bond and take responsibility for that individual until the government gives the ALL CLEAR.

One thing is certain, if you are not certain about your residency status in the US ... I'd avoid going anywhere near where you might encounter a US Border Services individual, just saying.

I don't understand. Why is the ban only for 120/90 days? Seems like a waste of effort. Either leave it alone or do the job properly.

Why does Cook have to say anything at all? Is he going to make a statement about every Executive Order now?
1. This is an internal memo. You weren't supposed to see it (unless you are an employee)
2. Many people on Twitter were asking "why isn't Tim Cook weighing in on this?". And then there's you "why is Tim Cook weighing in on this?". He can't please everyone. Similarly, why do you have to comment on Tim's statements? At least Tim had a valid reason to send out a memo (his employees were affected by this outcome).
3. Let him do whatever the hell he wants.

Why does Cook have to be publicly concerned about politics? It's not like it'll change Trump's ideas.
it wasn't public. it was an internal memo.

Oh good! He threw in a Martin Luther King quote to validate his statement to prove he's not racist. He once again gave Apple a political position and angering some of its customer base. He's really got to go. He uses the word "team" like he actually means it. Hopefully when California succeeds they will keep this guy.

Vet people who have already been vetted?
Notice the ban doesn't include Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. All of which are Muslim majority countries. Most of the 9/11 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia. So why is that country excluded?

Could it be that Trump's family has business ties with these countries? Hmmmmmmm?

I applaud President Trump's action. Not because I hate immigrants, but because I think it's important to find out who's actually coming into your country. If you let in every single person blindly, you're only putting your people at risk.

That's why Tim Cook and these other celebrities are such hypocrites. They don't let every single person that shows up at their mansion in their house. So why should we do it as a country?

The same thing goes for the border wall. These celebrities live in mansions surrounded by 15 foot walls and then complain when Trump proposes a border wall.

Oh, woosh
I think we can all agree no man or women should have this kind of power regardless of party. The sad reality is one day it's "your guy" and the next day it's "the other guy".

Yeah congress is usually extremely slow and has poor approval ratings, but it has more fail safes which is what the founders wanted when they crafted the constitution and the bill of rights. Over reach on any of the three branches is dangerous.

This is highly controverisal and something that should be discussed and debated to find a proper solution, just to have edicts at a mans whim is an insane idea (kinda why those sons of liberty fought for independence from Britain and the king back in the day).

Sorry but I didn't say anything about where he puts his money. Your comment is akin to me saying "Kobe Bryant was one of the most dominant basketball players" and you following that up with "He raped that girl in Colorado". We might both be talking about Kobe Bryant but you obviously aren't even close to having the same conversation.

To come here there is a 2-year background check and investigation process.

This is exactly why we have a racist, thin-skinned idiot running our country. Ignorance. "Blindly letting immigrants in?" It's a 12-24 month process with vetting from multiple government agencies and they do everything they can to prevent people with "other" motives from entering our country. Good grief:(

list of employees affected please.
Lol wut

I'm continually surprised by the level of discourse from the trumpsters. Just when you thought it couldn't get any dumber.

"There are employees at Apple who are directly affected by yesterday's immigration order."
Did you even read Tim Cook's letter?
Trumpsters have a lot of difficulty reading.

You called Tim Cook a Liberal.... and yet he donates to the republican party.

So in your world he is a liberal.... but he supports the republican party.....

Apple has no control over other countries stupid choices. They just sell products. When 'their employees' well beings in account, Tim should be required to address to them the issue.
