Lately Tim has been acting like he's running for office.

Yeah.... standing up for your own employees is the strongest indicator of a presidential run I have ever seen!

Tim Cook is a liberal. He is socially liberal. The only way in which he is not is from a business standpoint. Hmm.... why I wonder. Oh yeah, fiscally conservative policy is better for his bottom line and his personal wealth. However, take a look at Apple's track record on social issues and ballot issues, in California and nationally during his leadership.

Ok so we've stablished that he supports the republicans, and that for some reason you think him being socially liberal is a bad thing......

I applaud President Trump's action. Not because I hate immigrants, but because I think it's important to find out who's actually coming into your country. If you let in every single person blindly, you're only putting your people at risk. And one of the primary jobs of the leader of a country, is to keep his people safe. And by signing this executive order, Trump (or at least those who are in charge of the nation's security) is given time to find out who they really are.

It's controversial, I get that. Especially since America has been the country of the free etc. etc. And it's not something I would support all the time. Not at all, in fact. But if this can help the Trump administration to come up with ideas to make America safe again (or to speak for the liberals: to keep America safe), I believe it's the best way. It's only temporary after all..

By the way, I do think green card holders should be allowed to enter the United States, because, well... it's a green card, right? Don't think he will, but Trump should definitely change the order to allow those people.

Oh, this letter to me sounds a bit whiny, to be honest. Mr. Cook should focus on his products, not politics.

That is, one is to assume that this country is allowing people to come in 'blindly'. Just FYI, out of all of the terrorist attacks that were committed on U.S. soil, zero came from those countries. So, to be clear, this ban includes U.S. residents which include Apple employees. Hence why Tim Cook is being vocal about it.

It ain't the 1% eating your lunch. it's the out-of-control unions, and in particular the public-service unions, with their legacy gold-plated salaries and gold-plated pension plans - those people are your death knells.
You've fallen for the lies. It's not even debatable:
  • The Lower Class: Wealth has decreased by 26.5% for the bottom 20% of incomes
  • The Working Class: Wealth has decreased by 52.7% for the second lowest 20% of incomes
  • The Middle Class: Wealth has decreased by 19.1% for the middle 20% of incomes
However, one segment has shot up “off” the charts:

  • The Top 10%: Wealth has increased 74.9%, soaring to a median net worth of over $1.1 million.
These are 2013 figures compared with 1998 figures, and the gap continues to widen. Blaming that on unions is kind of hilarious. The union jobs are disappearing, and along with them, any hope of making a decent living if you lack an education.

Where did the San Bernardino shooters came from?
SA should be on the list

Your inability to understand the English language astounds me. Or maybe you just prefer to project yourself onto other people's words. Do us all a favor and don't assume you know what someone does or does not think. It's called discourse. I say something. You state a point of your own view. But you haven't been able to do that. You continue to incorrectly interpet my words rather than state your thoughts.

Like it or not, immigration and refugee acceptance is out of control. American is fundamentally broke (no money). We do not have the money to continue to provide free homes, groceries, iPhones, etc. to anyone that shows up at the door regardless of how humane it seems. Its time for the free ride to stop or at least be reduced to the really needy. I think that is what this pause is all about.

The previous administration wanted as many people as possible that were totally dependent on government for everything. It had nothing to do with compassion, and everything to do with votes. It was how they got elected. The middle class is bing sucked down the drain in order to provide poverty class support to everyone that wants it. That is not good for any of us natural citizens. Almost every other country in the world limits immigration and refugees and the ones that don't are in real trouble right now.
You literally have no idea how immigration works. Immigrants are the least likely group to rely on extended periods of government support and the fastest group to ascend income levels within a single generation. You're just butt hurt that someone from a foreign country makes more money than you.

Like the Boston bombers who were collecting welfare? http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/3187975

You mean "statistics." The reality of a widening wealth gap is not even denied by the Republicans, jeepers.
The hatred of unions is so 1980s. At this point, it's like hating dinosaurs.
Ha, Obama signed TPP

Apple should move its headquarters to Canada, or at least support the Calexit campaign. Today they go after immigrants from 7 countries, tomorrow it's all immigrants, not long before it's gays, protesters, political opponents... anyone that doesn't agree with the regime.

Silly.

If anyone thinks closing borders will stop terrorist attacks then those people are seriously naive. Second, it's very hypocrite of Trump closing the borders for those Muslim nations which are not tied with American interests, both politics and economical.

The only reason Trump is closing some border of some Muslim countries is to show he delivers. But in fact he doesn't deliver anythinf other that discriminating proposals.

The only good thing about Trump is that more and more people start to realise that bigotry and demagogues don't bring solutions but only more divisions between nations. Just like the Netherlands where the ultra right wing demagogue Wilders might win the electing but is being left out for serious discussion about forming a new government with him as the leader. Why? Because more and more people start to wake up and finanly sees that There is no such thing as a 'one leader' who can fix all of the world problems , especially when the leader is clearly suffering from psychological disorders.

Cook has every right to speak to his employees and address his concern to his government. Apparently it's okay for CEO's of large corporations to voice their objections publically if it's from a conservative viewpoint. It's similar to those who decry the current Pope's viewpoints about poverty, climate etc ("he should stay out of politics") but it's okay for a Billy Graham (now Franklin), the religious right, or every fundamentalistic pastor to "pontificate", cajole, influence, teach, preach, intimidate etc regarding issues.
For years, CEO's have spoken about the need to recruit internationally because the US does not produce enough skilled engineers etc. Neither have we invested in trades education for new skills required in today's industries.
This is nothing new.

It was an email sent to employees who look to him for guidance and leadership. This action directly affects the company. Get it now?

Just how many Syrian, Libyan, Yemeni, Somalian immigrants does Apple employ that Tim Cook has to provide "guidance and leadership"? Is Apple using slave laborers from refugee camps these days? or are there Apple stores there too?

You should focus on politics maybe - immigrants are vetted. I've been reading some stories from them today and they don't just slip in at all. Please research. Thanks.

That's crap. The USA takes hardly refugees in. It took in half as many refugees last year than countries 1/10th your size.
We take in over 1 million legal immigrants a year. No country on earth has a right to complain about how many people the USA takes in. We also accept plenty of refugees as well. We have a right to know who we are letting in and if they mean us harm. Unlike Obama, Trump takes the title of Commander In Chief seriously. He is taking responsibility for our safety, unlike the previous idiot.

Somali refugees were arrested plotting attacks. Minnesota has a little problem of gangs of 'refugees' roaming through middle class neighborhoods threatening to rape women and bomb homes. It's happened twice already.
We don't need refugees or immigrants who don't like the West, Jews or Christians. They can go somewhere else.
Interesting that I don't see any Muslim countries trying very hard to accept their brothers and sisters. Where is Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, etc? Not a peep
