Okay I'm coming out, I'm straight, as a dogs hind leg.

lmao! haha that had me cracking up.

seriously though, I have no issue with anyone being gay but I feel like it's wrong for people to think its a prerogative to 'come out'. be who you are and people will see you for it.

No, you just think it's cool to demean them subtly, hiding behind religion. You can act all holier than thou, the poor gay people, they are sinners, we love the sinner, not the sin, etc. At least I'm honest about my feelings and don't create all sorts of mental gymnastics to keep myself from admitting the truth. You're a hater. Own it.

I don't hate anyone. Not even you. You hate me, though. That would make you the "hater". Own it!

You forgot to ask, "When did you stop beating your wife?"
Why do you I assume I hate people if I warn them not to indulge in demonstrably destructive behaviosr? Indeed, it could be argued that I hate them if I did not warn them.

The only destructive behavior is you and your ilk who want to try and take rights away from gay people.

I put every possible option for the origin of homosexuality on the table. There's a spectrum of options beyond the "choice/born that way" dichotomy and science has yet to establish which are valid.

Actually, that's not true. I realize you're late to the thread, but read back a few pages (or simply search for the info), it's been shown and proven more times than not that sexuality is no more a choice than the color of your eyes, skin, height, gender. Fact.

or just read the post before mine. :) Thanks glxyjones (and yes, it's Wikipedia, but read the sources to actual scientific data)

According to this logic, animals are "free-will beings" who "can choose" to abuse gods will....

Woow this is a part of MacRumors I've never seen before today and reading all of these reponses to me and others, I'm blown away!!

Ya as someone who teaches anthropology, this is wayyyy off. Many indigenous cultures incorporated sense of morality based on these abilities. And in fact, many of them did this much better than either early Judeo-Christian culture or our secularly based culture that we have today.

Name one thing I was wayyyy off about. Just one. Your reply literally had absolutely nothing to do with my post.

And, as "someone who teaches anthropology" you better know (for the sake of your students) that murder, cannibalism and pedophilia have been WIDELY accepted cultural norms among many indigenous tribes/cultures.

Well and I i am of the mind that anyone believing in a god is delusional and thus has a mental disorder.

Is it ok that I believe in God, and His son told us to "love thy neighbor as thyself," so I love Tim, my wife, my 7 children, all of you on the forums, whether I agree with you or not, and let Him judge us, as I am too busy trying to perfect myself and get that beam out of my own eye to see the mote in yours.

Congratulations on having the third most hateful and offensive post in this thread.

The Hate word has become a bit of mantra for the gay lobby. Everything is defaults to "hate." I think people are wising up to the overuse and rididulous misuse of the word.

I don't hate you personally. I don't know you. I hate religion and I hate the way it makes people like you think it's ok to insult, demean, degrade, and vilify others while you hide behind your religious beliefs and cry foul if anyone criticizes your stupid imaginary deity. And I hate the way people like you ignore all the pain and suffering caused by haters like you.

OK, your choice, and peace be unto you. But it's your loss, as you would be writing some very fine and interesting people out of your life. And would you do the same for philanderers and wife-beaters? Drunkards and people who speak ill of their parents? People who work on Sunday?

Don't forget those who mix linen and wool. Sinners everywhere!

Don't bother. Their standards don't apply to them.

Hater. So, so much hate in your post.

Well Alex, I'll ignore the sarcasm, but I believe that in your haste you missed the point entirely:

Romans 14:14 onwards: "I am convinced, being fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself.

But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for that person it is unclean.

If your brother or sister is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy someone for whom Christ died.

Therefore do not let what you know is good be spoken of as evil.

For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and receives human approval."

That kind of proves my point though - that one part of the Bible says one thing, and another part says another. Since you (plural, not you directly) decide what to believe and go by, then you're applying your own moral 'sieve' on the Bible, which shows that it's not teaching you at all. You are applying your own set of morals to it, not the other way round.

I think it is you that has missed the point here. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for Christ's message of love and peace and equality. It's just some of the other stuff I have difficulty swallowing.

Alex

Well, as a straight person, I'm not a part of this so-called "gay lobby", I just know bull **** when I see it.

You sound more hateful than anyone on this forum

My point unclean foods were unclean before the ceremonial laws and science backs it up.

You're right. And they even have that warning at the bottom of our menus: "Eating undercooked seafood can be hazardous to your health." I hadn't thought of that. Funny how the ancients in the Bible had so many things right.

You mean the fourth comandment. That's another can of worms. But look at any calendar 7 day is on saterday

Yes, that's the point. Do you have a response, or are you just going to paraphrase me?

And if I may ask you, please use a spell checker. It's embarrassing to be talking with a stereotype of an "ignerrint" Bible-thumper. I mean, if you are going to tout the Bible, at least spell "Commandment" right (not to mention "Saturday"). There is other learning available outside the Bible, such as English class.

Not sure that is Christ's message.

So many bigots on this forum. Imagine being delusional enough that you thought someone else's sexuality was having a detrimental effect on your life and that you had to object to it. To do so in the name of a god who doesn't even exist, that's just unforgivable.

Two gay people in a loving, committed relationship is a contradiction in terms. If they are in it, it is not loving. It isn't what was intended for human sexuality. But you are right to say that in and of itself it has far fewer immediate and visible consequences than prostitution, but both fall short of the mark of what is right.

I feel sorry for you, really, I do. You have shown yourself to be an ignorant, hateful, cantankerous individual who cares more about spreading your lies like the venereal diseases you compare others to being. You're one of the very few who have made my block list, not because I do not agree with what you think is right, but because of how you treat others and what you believe others to be. I feel for you, and if there is a God and an afterlife, I sincerely pray you see the wrong in your ways and find true redemption. Otherwise, you and others like yourself who claim to speak the word of God through hatred and ignorance have no place in my world.

Good luck, I mean it.

It does say a lot that in 2014 the CEO of the worlds leading consumer tech company believes that he has to tell people about his personal orientation. Kind of sad. Still a long way to go.
