Imagine being a little gay kid and hearing this kind of stuff every day. Imagine how it would ruin your self esteem. Imagine how it would scar you for life. You can't. Because you're too busy trying to convince all of us that being gay is against gods plan. And sure, you're doing it in a nice enough way, but you're utterly clueless about how your words affect others. Or you don't care. Which has pretty much been my experience with religious people.

I am not passionate about this issue either way - but I can tell you that you are typical of people who support gay marriage - 99% of people in favor of gay marriage are so ignorant about the reasons people oppose gay marriage that it is embarrassing. This issue has been in the news 10-15 years and only one side has learned anything. The other rages on about hate in their ignorance.
I know its tough for people to understand the real issues from the political but the people who want gay marriage are the aggressors in this issue by inventing a new right that has never ever existed - ever - out of thin air and then being shocked when the rest of society does not jump on board. I think gay marriage is harmless because marriage is DOA, gays don't even marry when they can so it is all showboating (tiny percentages), and who cares. But there are hundreds of reasons to oppose gay marriage that have nothing to do with God but no one knows about them because that would take mental effort, compassion, and empathy on the side of the people pushing for gay marriage and its so much easier to say, "THEY HATE US." But also so dumb.
really good question. I don't know if I have the exact answer to that.I do think that religion should not be exempt of critique. They do spread bigotry, misogyny and discriminatory behavior. I am only calling them out on it.
There is a whole study about the amygdala and how the brain stop processing information in a rational way. It been show that people who are confronted about their religious beliefs triggers the amygdala and prevents rational thinking. I am not an expert of the subject. You can google it if you want.
We don't, we look at individuals such as yourself who twist and pervert the "word of God" to fit your personal agenda of hatred and bigotry. I pray you find the right path and redemption before being judged for the sins you have shown today.
Constitutionally speaking, these rights are given by our Creator (a little Declaration of Independence thrown in there), and should be protected by the government.

If gays hadn't "come out" in the past and present, the acceptance and equality of gays would be nowhere close to where it is are now. Of course some would prefer to see exactly that, but thankfully things aren't that way anymore and with every single gay who is coming out still these days the equality will gain strength.
Personally, I've come out to simplify my life and also get rid of those who have issues with gays .

Name five (out of hundreds...) of good reasons to oppose gay marriage that have nothing to do with God. Please enlighten us as to why consent adults, citizens of this country, tax payers should be denied the right to marry.

If you are heterosexual, please make sure in that case you never, ever tell anyone you're married to a woman, or have a girlfriend, or post photos of your kids on your screen lest anyone have to be confronted with your heterosexuality.
If you yourself are gay, please instead persuade all your heterosexual friends and family to keep their personal info to themselves.
Read this thread all the way through and then if you don't see why we still need to promote that being gay is normal and nothing to be ashamed of then I have no hope for you.
People shouldn't have to come out but the world isn't perfect yet and high profile people saying they are gay and proud helps normalise it for society as a whole.
What's your problem with it? I'm advertising my sexuality ever day I'm in public with my wife. Why should someone who is gay not do it?
