"Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind." -Albert Einstein (you know the father of modern physics?)

The word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honourable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this

Freedom of speech is inappropriate?

Nobody is going to throw him in jail for saying it, but freedom of speech does not mean freedom from SOCIAL recourse. There are plenty of examples, but here are a few recent; Chris Christie, The Dixie Chics, the mayor of Toronto. I don't think him telling the world he is gay is really inappropriate, it's his choice, but that doesn't invalidate the fact that the guy you quoted had a valid point, in that some stockholders are likely gonna get bent out of shape, and the sale of Michelob is likely gonna spike in a few baptist neighborhoods in southeast Arkansas.

So a CEO cannot be proud of his personal life?
I am really proud of myself being a fat whiteman, drinking beer and writing posts on an internet forum. ;)

I never understood folks being proud of their race, gender, sex behaviour, taste or petty actions.

I once showed a friend a huge turd I left in his toilet. I was very proud. He was very disgusted. :D :D

Lol exactly. Isis also says they have proof Islam is real. Faith is one thing but proof????!!!.., that is some strong they are smoking. All religions are bs.

Don't do it.... don't get me started on religion brah

It's the fact that in the US, people who aren't white cisgendered men, have had a history of being oppressed.

Sorry but the stock holders to the company he is CEO may think differently and wished he kept his private preferences to himself!

If they don't like what he does, they can sell their shares. Like the guys who don't want Apple to go green, they can go and sell their shares. But most shareholders are not individuals anyway.

From a purely financial standpoint, there may be more people who are either gay or have gay friends who will appreciate his statement than bigots who just hate.

No it is not but when you are the CEO your responsibility is to the stock holders and not "so he can feel proud".

You assume he didn't consider the impact of his coming out to Apple and the shareholder's interests. For all we know he might have pondered about the impact and decided it would do no harm.

Also, believe it or not, it could actually have a positive effect.

Question: When you have sex with yourself is it gay? After all it's with a person of the same gender.

Face it homophobes, you've experienced sex with the same gender.:p:eek:

I am struck, however, how many of our world's problems would vanish if we held to the Scripture's doctrines on human sexuality: one man, one woman, working things out in love, for life.

Exactly what problems and why exactly would accepting the scripture make them vanish? One of the problems in your line of thinking is that no matter the problems out there that you are thinking about in this regard, there are plenty of people who already follow said scripture and still suffer through what ever problems you refer to. So making some claim that following scripture would magically make them vanish is well to put it in a word, magic.

No matter how much you want to believe, love is not some magical answer for world problems.

I made it home. And yes I was driving. The phone can read the text to me.

Seriously be careful. I almost had an accident going 60 mph the other day reading this forum on my 6 plus. I was not paying attention and almost crashed into a car that was coming from a side street. Now I won't touch my phone while I'm driving except for a second or so. That was a wakeup call to me. Be safe :)

Again, I think it was a smart move with long term positive consequences for shareholders.

Are you gay?

Does it matter to you? It doesn't matter to me lol

Why should you have control over the curriculum as opposed to another parent or school official?

Do you have evidence that other children or actively allowed to discuss other faiths or the lack of existence of God? Sounds like you don't understand what inequality means.

I understand it just fine. I know that when my kid is silenced when she speaks about her Christian faith but the kid who is Muslim is allowed to speak about the merits of Islam that inequality is present.

"All the animals are equal, just some animals are more equal than others."

the majority of children are born outside of marriage anyway and most marriage only last a couple of years...

No and no

"First-time marriages: probably 20 to 25 percent have ended in divorce on average," Feldhahn revealed. "Now, okay, that's still too high, but it's a whole lot better than what people think it is."

So, we're back around to God *explicitly* saying that a raped woman must marry her rapist, or be put to death, apparently based on "what He determines to be wrong or right behavior, and the consequences of each".

Still waiting for the 'context' where that makes sense...

Did you read the link I sent? Apparently not. You don't have to agree, but it is explained.

How about this one:

Deuteronomy 22:25-28: But if in the open country a man meets a young woman who is betrothed, and the man seizes her and lies with her, then only the man who lay with her shall die. But you shall do nothing to the young woman; she has committed no offense punishable by death.

This clearly contradicts at least part of what you said.

Arranged marriages were common and acceptable then. They were the norm. The offense lies in breaking the norm with a heinous act (the rape). The focus of the law is primarily on the man, not the woman.

It seems you're not really trying to understand; rather just argue. We don't need to. There's a Bible verse for that too, written over 2,000 years ago:

2 Timothy 4:3
"For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear."

Who knew? God did.

It's the fact that in the US, people who aren't white cisgendered men, have had a history of being oppressed.

That fact is prevalent throughout human history, all over the world, and not unique to the "whites" we CHOOSE to punish who we punish for it today.

Seriously? Stop driving and reading/posting on a forum.

No. That is my life choice.

Not 'heresy', 'hearsay'.

hear·say
ˈhirˌsā/
noun
noun: hearsay

information received from other people that one cannot adequately substantiate; rumor.

But, if you want to be technical with your misreading, the bible would be considered heresy by *any number* of other religions.

Dude. I was driving and misread it. I've explained it five times already. Relax.
