Since that's clearly not going to happen, why not just move on with your life and buy a Dell/Sanyo/Lenovo/whatever and find some happiness?

If Ford was not going to make cars that meet my needs, next time I needed a car I'd get another brand. Whining about Ford would not be a solution.

You don't know that whining isn't going to help, or what Apple's going to do in the future. You're just trying to dismiss Mac users whose growing contempt for Apple threatens your confidence and peace of mind.

a redesigned external keyboard with touchbar for the new desktops would be nice.

I actually think that the market will determine this more than complaints, and the market may ultimately not support the mac. Perhaps Apple will decide to invest its capital in the 'gadgets' rather than the Mac and that will be fine. For a lot of people an iPad and an iPhone can serve all of their computing needs. Apple may decide they no longer want to support the segment of the market the Mac serves, seeing that enough of it can be supported with iPad's and what is left is a tiny segment who can fall off into PC land.

The market is an idiot. If Apple gave in to the whims of the market, they would have killed the Mac 25 years ago. I hope they don't start giving in now.

I'm planning to upgrade my 2012 iMac next year, so hopefully they release one with some good updates. The Mac is still the best computer on the market, at least in my opinion, it may not have the highest specs out there but it's far more reliable and lasts a lot longer with less problems, so well worth the cost in my opinion.

stop crying at least we now have an answer that the mac mini and/or mac pro are not DEAD

"Desktops" is non-specific. Logically, because Apple no longer makes displays, "desktops" means the iMac or maybe some new device we haven't seen yet. But until Apple gets more specific, the Mac Pro and the Mini are as good as dead.

What in the world do you find encouraging about that statement? To me, it is just more Timmy babble like he has been spewing for several years now. Pipeline / Roadmap / bla bla bla
i said somewhat encouraging.

and if you think everything timmy says is babble blabla then i'm not sure what you'd want me to expand on.. it's all baloney to you no matter what i would say.

New Mac Pro comes with the new iSolder - now you can solder on your own ram and ssd if it fails!

Sad to say I look with envy at winowz machines - seems if you want the latest in computing tech its pc

I want a Mac that powers two big nonglossy displays
lasts for 6 years and their macos
and is faster than my mac pro 8 core 2009
should be below 3000 $

mac mini as server is also due

Tim, you made a complete idiot of yourself sitting in like a duck with Don.
Go home and start a CPU shop in your garage. Anyone can do better than Apple currently.

After the "Hello again..." blunder (One Mac only, and not even an All-in-one? Really?), they really have to up their game in order for me to get excited.

And the only way to do this for me personally, would be to axe the Mac Pro and Mac Mini as they are now, and replace them with the much famed xMac - Ie. an intermediate machine that is upgradeable. That would increase margins compared to the Mac Mini, which Cook would love, and cater better to the Pros who doesn't care about trash can designs but flexibility and power. And the gamers would also be amazingly happy!

Trump told him to make desktops great again. (Sarcasm, in case anyone can't tell.)

They're not committed to desktops. If they were, they wouldn't have neglected them for the last five years.

Mini is Macpro 2007 and it will die soon. I get DRAM replaced, display card replaced, SSD replaced.....

My i7 4790K is way faster than it. Just hope to get next Mac Pro before it dies.

Theory: Apple abandoning the Mac Pro + abandoning the standalone display market + iPad Pro setting precedent for the "i" brand not indicating "consumer" level anymore = iMac Pro in 2017. Higher performance compared to the regular iMac, thicker form factor (for cooling), Space Grey color option, TB (wired) keyboard. But no upgradability, since the MacBooks have conditioned us to accept that.

I don't understand all the negativity against Apple when it's been very clearly documented that it's Intel that's taking forever to release suitable desktop Kaby Lake processors. The iMac already has a Skylake processor and there's literally nothing to release yet. Yes, Mac Pro and mini....quite obviously could've been upgraded in the meantime. But here's hoping for a desktop sweep when the Kaby Lakes arrive in the next few months.

Exactly. I sold multiple households on Macs, due to the ability to upgrade. It would out well for years and years. Now I tell the same family/friends to look elsewhere, unless they want to spend TOP dollar. Close to a dozen Macs, almost all to be replaced with PCs, in the not to distant future.

Keep up the bang-up job, Tim.

Same here.

A while ago, in the Oval office:
Don: Tim, I want to talk to you about all the buzz you make about the environment, social responsibility, diversity issues that seem to drive your agenda.
Tim: Sure Don. These are the things that drive me.
Don: Guess so. But it gets overwhelming and beyond your responsibilities. It almost ruined my campaign. I could hardly draw attention during my speeches with all your buzz from Cupertino in the background.
Tim: Sorry Don. But we have our own agenda's and time-schedules in California. It is the most productive and energetive state in the...
Don: Please, spare me your platitudes. I'd appreciate if you restrict yourself to your own business and leave the bigger social and environmental picture to professionals like me.
Tim: But Hillary....
Don: There is no butt, Tim. And no Hillary anymore. There is just lots of shortcomings in your company that you fail to address. There is a lack of innovation, a single mindedness about iPlay-stuff whereas the CPU business, the source of everything you ever created, is left orphan. Effectively, you have become a Samsung refiler. You seem to have betrayed your company founder, Mr S. Jobs.
Tim: Well, we just create more jobs. We are the biggest and most...
Don: Sure you do. But what did WE benefit from that in the US ?
You employ people in 546 other nations, where you seem merely interested in the best tax deals than those people. You say you care about welfare. WHAT welfare ? People aren't even allowed to have lunch at some places. If they earn enough to eat at all. You say it saves cost and benefits the planet if people stop to eat.
But what's in it for us - and when I say US, I mean THE US.
I am the president of a 1000 times more people than you will ever employ..
Tim: OK, but the guys from Intel haven't...
Don: Spare my your butt talk, Tim. Go to work, stop whining and make sure that you make the best CPU in the world. Within weeks, I mean.
Tim: OK, Don. Thanks for seeing me.

Tim, (a week later): Oh man, I had such a fruitful conversation with Don...
