So if he raped women and children, you don't feel that should in any way have a bearing on his job at Apple?

Nothing to do with each other eh?

That's what you are saying is it?

Thats silly. The criminal justice system addresses those issues.

I'm not a Cook fan but his private life is his own.

"MacRumors forums have disintegrated into the biggest bunch of Apple haters I've ever seen."
You've obviously not visited the UK Guardian's tech pages :)

LOL,

Hate is a strong word but surely this is a sign of how much the Apple enchantment has faded.

I still can't fault my Macbook Air. It's a thing of beauty but I bought that back in 2011. Since then computing has moved on dramatically and Microsoft blew me away with the Surface Pro 3 - so much so that I immediately jumped onto the Surface Pro 4 and will no doubt upgrade to the Surface Book 2 when that lands.

The tech lines have blurred so much recently that there is very little difference between OS and Hardware from the competition.

Thank you for the article. JamesPDX, that was dead on. .........As much as I like Jon Ivy, I have to say that the basic form of the Mac hasn't changed much in the last 6 years. Speaking the Macbook Pro: Beautiful yet delicate aluminum, curved on the corners with ergonomically uncomfortable edges, and a screen that is so flush with its keyboard that the keys have scratched the screen!
I've been saying for a while that the person who should be sacked is Ive not Cook. Macs were always good machines where form and function married together, but under Ive's watch form always beats function to the point where said function is often compromised

There isn't a single armchair quarterback in this thread that could do the job that he has done so far. So many Android trolls. If you don't like Apple products, don't buy them. You will NEVER convince any apple fan not to, so your efforts are utterly pointless
You are 100% correct that I am not qualified to hold Tim Cook's position at Apple. But, as a die-hard Apple fan, you can't attack others like me by calling us "Android trolls" for seeing through the brand's veiled stagnation in many areas of development. Is it our fault that under Steve Jobs, the company reached peaks that Tim Cook's regime is now struggling to maintain? No doubt Jobs' Apple set the bar very high. The next two years will be very telling for his company.

There are people who lives in matrix and thinks everything fine. I'm glad there are people who sees through illusion. Nothing wrong liking the products...but Apple insulting consumer's intellect is crossing the line.

Having thought about this, this is something that Jobs was excellent at. He had a vision, and was heavily involved in product development. Tim wants to be a politician and say all the right things. When Steve presented a product, you knew that he was involved all the way through the process, and could answer any questions around it. Tim looks plain ackward presenting a product , like he only saw the PowerPoint for it, and signed off the profit margins. If apple does have a roadmap going forward, I hope it's based on changing the world based on innovative ideas and products, and not products that maximise profit margins. Right now I am seeing variations of products that made a huge change to our lives

Tim was very awkward from live mad money interview. You're right. Apple is too political and not technological.

Man, I always wonder why Apple gets trashed so badly. I am no apple fan. In fact I love to use android. And despite that I have no hesitation in admitting that iPhones are the best phones on the market. Sure, it costs a lot. Sure, it comes with 16 GB as base memory. I know they are milking their customer. I have probably spent about 10k till now on their products. But to say that they lack innovation is simply untrue. Let me see if I could count on Apple innovation.
  • iPod (not innovation but a damn good product)
  • Mac touchpad (till now I have not seen anything like this)
  • Macbook air (haven't see a laptop like this. Don't mention windows crap please.)
  • iPhone 5/5s (amazing design. You could argue on this.)
  • Lightning port (usb C in disguise. Came much earlier than usb-C.)
  • Touch ID (not innovation. Moto Atrix had fingerprint reader which was pretty useless. I tried it.)
  • Macbook (one hell of a machine)
  • Thunderbolt (I know intel invented this but again mostly macs ship with it)
  • iPad (I dont use much but I have seen people live on it.)
  • Apple watch (Again I love the design. Your opinion may differ. Better than all Android wear crap. I still wear pebble though.
I am sure I could count a lot more but I got tired. I currently use iPhone SE and I can say it is the best phone in its category. I had galaxy S7 edge which I sold to buy iPhone SE and could not be happier. I feel the pain of 16GB base model. But to trash a company like saying their products are behind market is simply not true. People strive to reach Apple's quality. And don't get be started on Apple's customer service because I have not seen any company (except Amazon) which has a better customer service than Apple.

Seems Tim has learned that the best way to avoid the lack of ideas and products rolling out, is make the environment and political hot topics such as privacy take centre stage. He has so much to say about protecting our rights and saving the planet, but really very little about what his company does, producing consumer electronics . Frankly Steve would be fielding questions all night long about how Apple was going to change the world through its upcoming products. Guess Steve was a visionary and Tim is a politician. I have no issues with that, I used to tune in and listens to all of Steves interviews, one learned a lot from them. Tim is a broken record, I don't even bother listening to the politician responses anymore , though at the same time I don't expect him to actually have a pulse on product development. Though someone has to be the visionary at Apple.... Problem is I don't see that person. For me the current execs are planning thier exit strategy and retirement....hence they are all looking fatter each WWDC.

Problem is your SE is an updated product from 2013....2012 one could argue being the 5 design. I personally think the 5 is a better design than the 6. The reason people are complaining is that the products you listed are
From Jobs Apple. Now being 2016, people are asking what's Apple done post jobs. People know Apple is a great company, they want to see it continue being great and not go down the path of Sony, when they stopped innovation

I hear you. Steve was a philosophical man that applied his knowledge to technology. I was hoping we can get someone with Donald trump's attiude at Apple to make things great again.

Apple was ahead of the game several years ago. The problem is, they've been at a standstill pretty much and allowed other competitors to catch up or even surpass them in all areas. Even worse is when Tim Cook took over, yearly internal component upgrades have been ridiculously subpar compared to when Jobs was around.

You do know that they made Mac pros, right?
you do know Apple WAS a computer company, right?

Mom's basement, why do Americans change spellings? Is it to hard to say Mum? And I can say what I want thanks, two world wars were fought for that right.
Perhaps you too feel elitist and super rich because you have an iPhone?
[doublepost=1462357907][/doublepost]

I think this sums it up pretty well. They are faltering now, I think investors can start to see that and if the iPhone sales drop further, they will get nervous.
Change spelling's to what? In America...we have...MOM'S. And you can say whatever you want but you aren't free from being criticized for what you say. It's like you think because people fought for free speech that only applies to you and not people replying to you.

No it means they have good taste, as Apple is the only smartphone company that has design chops. Samsung makes cranes for shipping containers amongst other things. Nobody associates them with design
True, though I would add that the only real 'thing' that Samsung can design are photocopiers!

I know that most companies copy and in the past even Apple has (I think). Though with companies such as Apple at least they do not just copy, they improve and perfect. Samsung just seems to copy and as for other Android Phones, in my opinion they focus on making the phone and playing the specs game. the result is a phone that is not as good to use as it should be. My father recently got given an Android phone as a present. He is a very clever guy and the phone was about mid range. The specs were quite good for the price, though the user experience was naff. It took my Father about 3 days to figure out how to answer the thing. It was not simple or straight forward.
I just wish that rather than focusing on specs and market share, the Android phone community would make better phones in terms of usability and quality as well as ease of use etc.

Oh please Timmy spare us the BS. The market has caught up to your antics, doling out small incremental upgrades and relying on your name brand and rabid customer base. Even the most loyal customers are waking up and catching on, but you keep rolling out $650 16gb iPhones when flash memory has gotten extremely cheap....

True, and I am a Brit living in the UK. I have to say on the investor aspect that I do not see the big problem because the investors we are talking about are large ones. The sort that tend to hold millions of shares such as Karl icahn. They often do not tell the whole story about why they take a certain course. Plus sometimes they can have expectations that are over optimistic or too greedy. The iPhone is a hugely successful device in terms of sales since 2007 when it launched. Investors look at the record sales growth and say something like "hmmm over 65 million sales in a quarter, we think apple should sell over 150 million per quarter" then when that does not happen the stock gets hammered. or then they could be too greedy and a similar thing occurs.
Also let us not forget about those who try to short the stock. If in 2 years time apple released the apple car and it sold in good enough numbers with healthy enough profits suddenly all those investors who sold stock or were jumpy and nervous,s saying how apple is doomed just because there was a blip in iPhone sales would jump up and down and shout how they never doubted apple.
In short, shares can fall and rise and even companies as big and as successful as apple will have moments when the stock is not doing as well as has been. That does not mean anything really when looked at over a longer period of time. Apple has something like $200 billion in off shore reserves. That means even if nobody bought a single thing apple sold for 10 years then apple would still be around.

"Whether it was Steve's Apple or -- I don't view it as my Apple today, I'm the CEO of it"

IMHO this is what makes all the difference... it is unlikely for anyone to make something great without feeling it is a direct part of themselves.

Every android phone on planet earth has a green answer button that you press or slide in the direction of the arrow.. to say it took your father 3 days means one of 2 things...he is either a recovering stroke victim with the mental capacity of a pot plant, or that in your quest to Slag off android/Samsung you would stoop as low as to paint your father as a simpleton. You should be ashamed of yourself if it is the latter.
