Cook pointed out that many people pay for the iPhone month by month. At carrier prices that startsomewhere around $33 per month, that's "lessthan a coffee a day at one of these nice coffee places."

Omg this is such an american way of thinking, no offense lol

It's not an American way of thinking with anyone I know! Maybe in California and NYC. I doubt anywhere else.

Don't know what Apple calc app math Cook is using but here the price of coffee ranges from about $5 at Starbucks to about half that at McDonald's. So, $33 coffee is very uncommon.

well, in a way it is true, a cup of Starbucks none just black coffee, is about 5-8 bucks a day......... so you either drink your money, or you have it in your hand working for you?

not really.. i spend about $16 a day at coffee shops..

$33/month at 'nice coffee places'?
not very American imo.. that's only two days worth.

Hmm... I thought Apple stated that the proper plural term for iPhone, was "iPhone devices"?

"It's important to put it in that context," Cook said. "We price for the value we're providing. We're not trying to charge the highest price we can get or anything, we're just trying to price it for what we're delivering."

I declare BS. Apple is a for profit corporation and thus will sell at the price that makes the most profit. Otherwise they are forsaking their responsibility to the share holders.

Great. Maybe they can price the 11 at $2,000 or maybe $2,500? After all, just put ANY higher price "in the proper context" and it too can be an "incredible bargain." Hopefully Apple knows this and will significantly jack up all prices accordingly.
It’s called the law of supply and demand: as long as more people want it than can have it, Apple can keep raising the price. Don’t blame them for making a popular product.

Tim, you are greedy. Don't try to lure us. $999 for a phone is insane.
It is pricey but just from my past reading of this forum. A lot of people buy the next model up or higher from base so they're already spending close to $1000.
The Note 8 is basically the same price as the X and people bought them like crazy. The S8+ wasn't that much cheaper.

I don't like this trend of phone prices going up. Tech items normally go down in price

But it’s NOT just a phone. It’s a pocket computer. I use my iPhone as much, maybe more, than my desktop. If it were just a phone, I’d agree, but it’s not. Not even close.

Tim Cook is getting more annoying by the day. This guy needs to stop talking so much. The more he talks, the more I'm happy to never buy anything from Apple again. He's either trying to be a political activist, or trying to badly imitate Steve Jobs, or just saying things that are stupid and frankly insulting. The iPhone X is expensive, and what he calls "value" to justify it is contrived BS. They are charging a lot for it because there has been such a long time since there was a new design and their customer base is starving for something new.

I meant more like paying stuff they cant afford on credit because everything is a bargain if marketed right.

Just look at those car commercials in the us „get a brand new audi at only 99 Dollar* a month! „ get your flu shot at your nearest CVS and save another 25 bucks on your next purchase! Sign up for xy and you receive a 500 Dollar amazon gift card now!

Insane to me lol however i have to say stuff like Adidas and Nike is SO CHEAP in the US

I think PPL would buy it regardless of the price

Tim Cook could have safely priced it at $1999

April fools was many months ago, Tim.
I’m unsure about your skepticism. I think he knows that a phone (edit: not just a phone, but an everything device) with close to two years advanced technology over the mass market’s offerings is expensive to design, build, and mass produce, let alone get it to the public a year early.

Apple went from final-draft design to shipped and available to market in a year from reports, and if I remember correctly, it’s been two years since Face ID was conceived on the drawing boards. That’s pretty incredible, and had to have been exhausting. The whole team looks like they’ve aged 3 years over just one year’s time.

The X is worth $1000. That’s why iPhones now start at $349. There’s one for everybody.
