Perhaps this is a silly idea....

But could not Transparency be like a volume control?

By default, let's say Apple sets the transparency effects at perhaps 50% and as a user you can adjust this slider up/down to your preference.

If you wanted to give the user an even finer control, you could allow the user to set it on an app by app basis.

That way everyone is happy, and everyone has control over how it looks.

Is that too easy/obvious?

idk i just don’t see this as a lasting design language. it feels like it was developed as concepts and theories and looking pretty on a screen, and once they started moving into real life user experience things have fallen apart. i’m glad they continue to refine things, but actual readability and usability seem to suffer in preference of something looking “cool”. again, fine as a concept, just doesn’t work great in practice.

Maybe they should finally relent and let us show and hide whichever elements we want to from the Lock Screen and the Menu Bar.

Hate seeing the time in the middle of the night. Ended up creating a bizarre Jackson Pollock type wallpaper to hide it, but it only sort of works.

Given the mess they’ve making of the visual interface, they should just let us turn on or off which effects are used and which elements are displayed.

If you don't like it.. turn off glass on the clock...

Maybe the default should be solid and glass an option for the clock. (for the complainers)
The complainers will always have something to complain about. There are those that complain and not buy Apple products… That’s why Apple’s worldwide marketshare is low compared to Android. They can’t win them all and they know it’s a losing battle to TRY to win them all, so they’re not concerned about those folks as long as enough folks are still buying.

Then, there are those that complain and STILL buy Apple products… and, well, Apple’s obviously not TOO concerned about someone that’s buying their stuff anyway. :)

I love the idea of liquid glass.

But it seems more and more, Apple decided it NEEDED a change, thought of one, and announced it. Only to realise the practicality and usability of it - either makes it look like glass (hard to read), or like frost (not glass - aka not what they announced).

They worked themselves into a corner with it

Just turn off the transparency, it's right in the Lock Screen settings.
NO! It’s a well known fact that, ever since I’ve been buying Apple products, Apple makes it so that the default is perfect for me! Now, you know, it’s been like 20 or so years of me buying Apple products and my vision isn’t really what it used to be, but that means Apple should change all their defaults so that they work the way my eyes/brain works. It’s just the way of the world, you see.

I don’t need “accessibility”, that’s for other folks that actually need help using the phone and seeing the UI. I just need the default changed so that I can see the UI better. Is that so hard to understand? /s
