The background is a hideously bad example of a background to use with that effect. There's too much noise. That makes it look worse than it probably is, and it's pretty bad. I can see my family having difficulty with this big time (we have two people with sight difficulties already)

Can someone please try it with my normal phone background, attached...

That renders down to this, which is perfectly readable!

Regression in usability for sure.

Feels like Jony Ive influence on the design team. Aesthetics over usability.
You will most likely stop complaining a couple of days after the final release and most likely never think about it again.

I’m very fussy about my backgrounds. I finally found one that I think works well enough. And I use a photo editing tool to fade the background to black to hide the Dynamic Island. Of course that only really works with photos that already have a darkish background.

I’ve said it before (not on here but.. w/e) that the customer should have a choice of themes. The bouncing back and forth with the Liquid glass that apple is doing reminds me of the early Longhorn builds that Microsoft had and they changed what the definition of “Aero” was many times before they settled on a deployed state.

I’ve tried the Betas, public beta and always gone back to iOS 18, I don’t dislike Liquid glass but.. it’s just not for me. If Apple had an opportunity to allow a “Classic” iOS look and then have the “Modern” look option with the UI I would be all for it. I’m excited for the enchanted options within iPadOS and I know I need to get used to Liquid glass but still, I should have the option of using a “classic” view that iOS offered in the past.

Just my 2cents…

MR you've done it again. The English-speaking world reads left-to-right, and we are used to seeing before on the left, after on the right. Likewise, lower numbers in a series are typically seen on the left.

Your images are often counterintuitive, and you really need to consider that the photos you use should be understandable at a glance, without having to check the caption. It's so simple - think of your readers. Thanks.

lol people complaining about liquid glass. I understand the concern, but aren’t we all surrounded by glass everywhere? In our cars, our homes, etc. In real-world situations, I wonder how some people don’t have their cars tinted when it’s bright and sunny outside and sometimes hard to see the traffic light, but here we are complaining about an upcoming glassy software update🥴 I know people are gonna say it’s two different scenarios, but the point is we are surrounded by glass everywhere.

Nah, this feels more like the battery percent that went missing with iPhone X.

Except this time, there was no reason to make things translucent.

I'm surrounded by idiots... idiots everywhere I go. But that doesn't mean I want one in my house 20+ hours a day.
