yeah

Co-worker went into a Verizon store and just got 1. He said the store got every model except the Gold version. They didn't get any of those. I wonder how big the demand is for a phone that most people never even got. I think demand was created since they were gone, and everyone thinks that they were scooped up fast.

Some stores reported having 2 gold iPhones delivered.

Maybe they were being cautious with the gold thinking that many people wouldn't buy them.

Portland, OR Pioneer Place

Just returned from Portland Pioneer Place Apple Store and they're out of all models except for black AT&T 64GB. They still have every capacity (black) for Verizon. They still have Sprint phones, all capacities. No T-Mobile and no unlocked phones.

All they have is black phones. They ran out of gold and white by 6am.

Every iPhone release, the trolls always insist that the demand is faked by having low supply. Same as the whining that every iPhone update has "nothing new".

Yet every release, after a few days apple releases real sales numbers, "X million sold in Y days". And for the most part the numbers keep going up with every release.

Only the numbers will show how much of a success it's been. I suspect that we will be in for some interesting results over the next 12 months. I really have no idea how well the c will do which is fun!
Now, to get my old 5 unlocked.

Another samsung paid troll.

Longest lines ever.. That is indicator of demand wise guy !
You're an Apple groupie.
People in line are mostly scalpers: 90% Chinese in NYC, bunch of russians and eastern europeans in Germany.
And they had very little stock of the 5s, maybe 800 units in total at the Apple Store, where they had 3000+ of the 5 last year.

But plenty of 5c's, which no one wants at this price level (they'll probably lowr the price come holidays).

The impression that new iPhone is in high demand is good for all owners, whether you upgrade or not.

Developers will take notice and keep developing for iOS... The media spotlight is good for Apple, iOS developers and users.

Seems the demand for iPhone has not fallen despite Apple's recent image of 'not being innovative enough' and its competition, Android.

All is well for iOS :)

Picked up a space grey this morning at AT&T. They had 1 Gold 16GB and people were very disappointed. I do not want a gold phone personally but I did get the last space grey 5s.

I've had an iphone since the first one. Would you guys recommend starting fresh since this is essentially a brand new OS? I don't wanna carry old junk from pervious iPhones to my new one. Thoughts?

Always start fresh for major upgrades and hardware changes. No matter what Apple says...there has been at least 4-5 well documented issues that resulted from restoring in the past.

I generally agree with your points but I know of at least one update from a iPhone 4s that will not happen this year....

My wife used her upgrade to get a Samsung S4 Active because of the larger screen and even though I offered her to sell it and get an iPhone she said that she will wait until Apple offers a larger screen.....

So we'll see if she's alone or not.

Switch happens. But generally iPhone users are a loyal if only because they have a large portfolio of purchased apps they don't want to abandon and have to start from scratch.

I'm from Illinois and had the pleasure of visiting Boca Raton last month. It's a beautiful place and actually visited the apple store you're talking about, I'd love to make it back there. Anyway grats on your 32gb space grey! Exact model I want... However I have to wait until my upgrade is available in a couple of weeks

I lived in Chicago and Evanston for a total of 14 years between college and after, leaving me with fond memories of Illinois. :)

Boca is very nice! (And its Apple Store is not as popular or croweded as the ones in Fort Lauderdale, Aventura or Miami of course...)

Keep those Apple generated self serving "headlines" coming. It's the cornerstone of Apples success. You've got to give them credit. No one does marketing and spin control like Apple. They didn't capture billions & billions of our money simply by making tech gadgets. They are master marketers.

They can talk about how "incredible" the demand is all they want, but when the other phones had come out, even without "extremely tight supply," the shipping slipped to longer wait times much faster. 7-10 days isn't bad with more than half the day gone already. I don't think this 5s is selling as fast as they expected.

Oh, I forgot to mention, I had my old 4S/Blk/32GB device - in lovely, near new condition - lying around (was using it as an emergency backup and development phone). I took it with me to trade-in.

The AT&T Store gave me $205.00 for it. I'll take that. :D

(I probably could have gotten more for it, but I got it subsidized so I made 67% of the purchase price of the device back, so I'm thrilled...)
