man, the 2012 Mac mini, their best mini still, will be obsolete before its replaced...... nice work Tim!
There is no external dvd or blue ray for the mac? We have 2 official apple external dvd drives. One of the reasons I refuse to get rid of my now obsolete Mac Pro is that there is no Mac model where you can put in your own DVD collection that you purchased and make a digital copy of it, which is totally legal. They've just made it technically impossible by removing the media drives from everything. I guess the Mac Mini was just too ideal for this.
Why should I have to rebuy all my movies with digital copies from Apple in sometimes lower quality?
No one has ever quite explained this to me to make any sense. I refuse to comply. It reminds me of the infamous Apple 1984 commercial about Macintosh.
When you put up restrictions, you just induce and help pirating.
I would love to see a Mac Mini with a Blu-Ray player, but that'll never happen. Too much "Bag O' Hurt" as Steve Jobs famously said. So I'll just find another way.
Apple is slowly driving me away. I can't lie.![]()
No.Steve Jobs died in mid-2011
Did someone at Apple drag into the trash the master files for production of the whole Mac line up?
Updates are slower and less substantial each year.
Apple is on the go slow, and it's a disgrace.
New Macs now that make us go![]()
Yes, they upgraded it with USB3, and removed the quad core option castrating it.
Boom! Ouch. The 2017 mini should also be on that list.
I think the Mini and the Mac Pro are going to be discontinued eventually. They are "specialized" products that are sold in numbers that, given Apple's massive production quantities, are essentially rounding errors. Not trying to be flippant here because I know people love these products, but to me, that's the reality.

Mac mini will be canceled soon.
No. They have released newer versions of the Mac Mini since this model. That, and five years since this model was discontinued, makes this particular model obsolete.True. But on the other hand, Apple should have delayed the 2011 Mini's "obsolete" status until they had released a current (2017-2018) replacement product in place. That would have been the decent thing to do, no?
It’s really hard for Apple to release a MacMini after people buying that $1000 iPhone. For Timmy that just a waste of his resources for a little profit. Unless somebody is willing to donate their time for a side project. Besides declaring it obsolescence without replacement is over. RIP MacMini, nice knowing you and thank you for introducing me the OS X that brought me to iPods and iPhones and iPads and more Macs. But I have a confession I might start regretting this long journey in the near future.
CEO Cook, declaring a model both "important part of the lineup" and "obsolete" simultaneously, then supposedly obsoleted himself.
Depart that idiot.
Wake up and smell the coffee... The Apple of today don't want to be bothered with Macs. It is a tiny part of their business (ironically built on the pedigree of Macs). The Jobs legacy and the diehard Mac fans are an inconvenient thorn in the sides of Cook et al, despite what they say. If you ask me (yes, I know you didn't) they would ditch Macs tomorrow without a second thought, but they know the negativity that would surround the media coverage is still a bit more than even their team of spin doctors can deal with.
Apple sells, whatever great or abysmal its products are. That's hardly a CEO's accomplishment. Schiller/Forstall/Schmidt/Ballmer could have run that rally. But Cook was chosen - supposedly a provisioning genius. Well, what provisioning do we see with the Cook launches (HomePod, AirPower, Airpods) It's mostly desperate amateurism, currently. He's supposed to provision (or supply better geniuses who provision)The guy that has lead Apple to their greatest profitability and growth in history? Anyone with any business sense knows Cook has been a spectacular CEO by most every measure. There's almost nothing he could do to be removed at this point, short of something completely catastrophic.
And they never will for this, its allllllll onboard the onboard train. While I love my 2016 Macbook Pro 15 I really despise that even the SSD is soldered in. This stuff drives me insane.
No! Best machine I still have! I guess High Sierra is the all I can go......
