You know something, what's the Url of the page you are checking for "IUP stock" in Safari (after being redirected from the Apple store app)? Thinking about this some, when going thru the app store to order through the IUP program, you are thrown to Safari to reserve an iPhone. I don't see why anyone couldn't use that same Url that is generated for you to check for "IUP stock". It doesn't seem to be tied to the iPhone or account that a user is trying to upgrade from in the Apple app store app.

Ive been eagerly monitoring this thread, from the UK but wanted to throw my two cents in.

Notice the URL, where it says 'Channel='.... if you notice it takes you to Channel 1 if you are using desktop and Channel 2 if you are using Apple Store App ;). Go figure!

I have been trying to trick the system for a few days, hoping that there's a loop hole or a channel which will show restricted stock. Clearly Apple are filtering by device or browser info.

Apple have used the URL change in other areas of their website & design to...useful in finding out what mapping data they plan to use in the future ;)

Oops sorry for the lack of info. Carrier: AT&T. Yeah I'm in the upgrade program and spoke with the IUP rep on Sunday. I never received a confirmation email from them even though the rep said that he would right after the phone call. I called a couple hours later and spoke with another rep and he said he found my info and would send the original rep a message to email me his info, never did. Worried they have my wrong email address. I was able to make a reservation for an iPhone 7 Black 128GB, but I want the iPhone 7 Plus Black 128GB/256GB.

Black+ 128G at all stores except Union Square. No 256.

Any chance there's a Black 128 or 256 GB for AT&T in NYC (specifically the Elmhurst store)? I have a back up IUP reservation and just want to make sure before I cancel. Thanks!

If anyone sees 256 GB black AT&T stock in Washinton State, could you let us know? I don't want to cancel the order I just made for 128 GB Black AT&T without knowing that there is another available. I jumped on it as soon as I saw it. Tacoma, Tukwilla, Bellevue, Seattle, or Lynnwood
 
I was able to pre-order a black iPhone 7 plus but realized silver is what i always get. I just like silver better.

If i cancel what are the chances of me getting jack ****. (I am only seeing iPhone 7 due to reservation) HELP

So I have an issue with varying responses from Apple...

I am on the AUP and made an upgrade order for a Black 7+ 256gb at 3:05am but chose Sprint instead of T-Mobile (as stock was exhausted). The Sprint model can work on T-Mobile and I assumed the phones were issued unlocked.

By phone, Apple customer support is telling me I won't be able to use this phone unless I switch to Sprint as it needs to be activated by a Sprint account before it is unlocked.

In store, an Apple store attendant told me that I should just turn up and ask them to activate it for me anyway.

Who do I believe? I've been put on the AUP call back list and have been told to wait 72 hours for a response.

Stock does not update every 5 mins. Checking after 8am would make more sense.

Incidentally, I was somehow able to make a reservation for a Verizon model on 9/9, but I am on T-Mobile (all T-Mo reservations were unavailable for me). The Apple "specialist" I spoke with today told me that the Verizon phone I reserved should be able to be used on T-Mobile since I am on the upgrade program and all of those phones come unlocked. I am not completely convinced though. :-/

This has always been my understanding. All the Chinese buy the Verizon.

For some reason it let me make the pre-order through the Apple site on Sprint without asking for carrier information, but I've been told that it should either not matter at all and I will be getting my reserved phone on Friday (from an in store attendant) or that I won't be able to use the phone I reserved unless I switch carriers to Sprint (by phone with customer support).

Yeah I made a similar post on reddit and was told it shouldn't matter, and read other posts here that say the same... it's weird just how complicated this issue is to most people, let alone Apple.
