Apple.com 6/17 Online Reserve

Well, there I was, earlier today complaining about the dead zone in the middle of the northeast, with no ATT black 256GB Pluses ever showing up, when I get back to my office from lunch errands and mindlessly click the iStock page, expecting to see all red markers again. Lo and behold, a green one - only 60 miles away too, in Rochester NY (I'm in Buffalo). So, I go to reserve it, expecting the worse. And it reserves OK, no fuss. Hmmmm. Still waiting for the expected disaster to set in.
So, I bail from work early, drive the hour to Rochester, expecting some jerk to deny me or find out it was a mistake - and I walk out ten minutes later, with a phone, and a thousand dollars lighter.
All that time, trying to dig up a unit, and then, when I'm not even trying, one falls into my lap. And since it seems stock was actually getting worse, not better (online for my particular model went from 2-3 weeks to 3-4 weeks now), I expected it would be November before I got one, after my pre-order self-cancelled itself (thanks AT&T and/or Apple).
Then, thats when it occurred to me what a moron I must be that I drove an hour and spent a thousand dollars for a friggin' phone.
Such is the life of a techno-geek.

Alright guys so I reserved with the IUP reservation link and wasn't a part of the IUP. Went into the store and they didn't give me any trouble. The only thing is if you reserve through that page you have to purchase this iPhone with the IUP... cannot buy it outright or do carrier financing. This was okay for me as I wanted to enroll in the IUP anyway so it worked out. Got my 7+ MB 128GB and couldn't be happier!
A tip... if you don't have any luck at 12:01 i recommend looking very early like at 6-7 AM on iStocknow, thats how i was able to reserve mine this morning and it seemed like there were a lot of green arrows on the map at that time. Good luck everyone!

Not true - I was never in IUP, ordered through that web site and the guy never even brought it up - just "how do you want to pay?" and "Applecare?". A LOT of people had the same experience. I paid in full.
just got back from my reservation!! No more waiting for my matte black 7+ 128gb to ship. Everything was seamless/ they had a huge line, but I still got in at my appointment time. I was going to do the IUP program anyway, so i didn't even bother with financing questions.
For those still searching for a reservation. The inventory changes all the time. I got mine at 5 am, but I refreshed throughout the day for a friend and found what he needed about 10 am.

Actually, I now see that Apple is cracking down on non-IUP people getting phones.

Yeah true... I think the official policy is that they don't allow it but maybe some reps will let it slide? The person I worked with was adamant I could only do it through IUP otherwise the reservation would be cancelled.
Today I was refused at Newark, Delaware. Got into a very unpleasant discussion with the sales guy and the manager. They told me that they were unable to process without a IUP subscription. It was following them not possible to proceed, they would like to but the system wouldn't let them do that. I told that I really doubted and they did not like that. They became really angry and let me feel that I did something very wrong not believing them. Really a weird way of serving (or not serving actually) customs.
2 hours later I tried it with a different employee. I walked out the store with two brand new iPhones (7 Plus 256GB Black).

When I got my iPhone 7 Plus, everything went well. The Apple employee did not interrogate me about not being in IUP. It did say I was trading in the device, I said no, he was able to bypass it and allow me to pay in full.
wow a jet black in the wild in virginia. 256gb 7+ verizon. Anyone have experience with the arlington, clarendon store turning someone away? It's an hour drive each way for me

not on verizon here either. On t-mobile, plus I want to pay in full anyway. My JB pre-order isn't set for delievery until 10/4-10/10 and sadly still in processing.

Yea , Business Line is Verizon and T-Mobile is my personal line. - Just waiting it out and one day a 128gb+ with be available in the state of NC... (Jet Blacks are gone already)
Nearest store that has the phone I want is at the World Trade Center. I'm in the suburbs so I'd end up paying $20 in transportation just to get it. I'll see what's available in the morning.
haha I saw that too, wow, I have at&t and verizon wireless family plans but not on IUP. you think they would let me buy it on IUP?
Btw, I also saw AT&T Jet Black 128GB Plus available for a little while at Clarendon but *meh, Verizon model has better modem.
it is the hard-to-get game that motivated you to go extra mile/hour to get a minor-upgraded iphone 7.

I just made a reservation using the IUP link at an Apple Store an hour away from me. The reservation confirmation showed it under the IUP, but I'm not on the IUP. I want to use my ATT Next program. Is that what you did?
Looking at the FAQ on the confirmation, it said I can change to carrier financing, but you have to currently be enrolled in the IUP. Is that the case? I'm gonna call the store in the morning when they open, and verify. I hope I'm good to go.
I was in the same situation as you and they didn't let me switch to carrier financing i had to buy it with the IUP. It all depends on the rep I think as for others they have been able to use whatever payment method they want. Good luck!
Finally, I was able to reserve a 7+ Matte Black 32gb (Verizon). Pick up at noon tomorrow. Honestly wanted 128gb but Idk. Is 32gb good enough?
Spoke to the manager a few days ago in-store regarding not being an IUP member and paying in full, she said it was completely fine. Hopefully, no issues tomorrow.

Yeh, that's what I'm worried about. Hopefully everything goes smoothly. Would seriously suck if they refuse me, I was one of the first ones guiding people on this and other threads about this trick lol.
