Yeah, I think you are right...

My brother wants to join the shared plan from another carrier. He doesn't care about the phone as long as he can get a UDP line. Getting the 6+ would be a nice upgrade for me and I'd give my brother my iphone 5.

You guys are both right. I should just get the line in case the UDP ends...but then again...the market is flooded with people selling them now :p

FYI - like campguy I had an unsuccessful 6+ ship to home. The issue for both was that the activation date was set by Apple for original ship date but arrived 2 weeks early. Unfortunately the only ones who can update that are VZW and they will take away the UDP in the process. If you do it and it doesn't activate right away like others successfully did you may want to wait until the original ship dates Apple quotes you. Good luck!

Picking up iphone in store

If I order an Iphone6 for store pickup, who can pick it up? only the account Primary? or anyone with ID?

Tips/Tricks

Ok guys I'm about to AOL a line to my fiance who manages to always screw something up lol. So does anyone have any tips/tricks/things to avoid when being the one taking over a UDP line?

UPDATE on ship-to-home order problem

Hey all. I posted here previously about my unsuccessful ship-to-home order on 9-19-14, subsequent shipped return to Apple 5 days later, followed with a successful store pick-up for another line on 9-27-14.

Everything has been going smoothly with my account until today.

I logged into My Verizon and the new line (with unlimited data) for the unactivated phone I shipped back to Apple two weeks ago showed up in my account for the first time with a contract end date of 2 years from today (10-8-16). It had not shown up prior to today.

I know Apple received the phone because my credit card has been credited back and I also received a credit memo receipt from Apple showing receipt of the device.

Has anyone else had this occur? Suggestions on how to proceed?

I seem to remember some discussion about when these added lines show up in your Verizon account, but I can't find it now. Anyone recall? Is is prior to the actual activation?

Wish I would have seen your post earlier, but just out of curiosity, what was the original delivery date of your failed activation?

Google voice port

My port from Verizon to Google Voice went through last night. I've read that people had issues trying to port out of Google Voice back to Verizon right away. Anybody have a clue on how long to wait? It's been about 18 hours.

Thanks

i was going to say something....
too late.
thanks all.
Not really, I did say something but quoted a helpful post - then I saw the post was by the same person in a thread on a different site. I couldn't delete my post, but the snark? Whatever.

I posted (whined) about this a couple of days ago.
Short version: You need to talk to a VZW Tier 2 Tech and get them in touch with Apple in order to confirm that Apple has received the device. If you returned it to an Apple Store, the VZW Tech needs to confirm with the Store that the device was received. Then, there's a 72-hour waiting period before VZW will remove the line from your account.

I went through this from Thursday-Sunday, getting a Tier 2 Tech in touch directly with the local Apple Store Manager - who called me personally. Too many hours on hold IMO. I understand that, if I hadn't pressed the removal of the line, it would be removed upon a new billing cycle - 3 weeks for that account and too long for my comfort.

Questions for the community. My apologies in advance if they have been answered in this thread. It's taking me a while to read through 50+ pages...

Background:

I am currently an att subscriber but I'm interested in moving to vzw for unlimited data. I'm in the process of working out details for aol transfer with cnotes. I purchased a 6 plus for personal pickup at the apple store by setting up a new account/line. I picked up the phone and they had to return it and I bought it back at full price. Thus canceling my account and line and burning the sim.

1. What do I need for the transfer? Do they ask for imei? Or SIM card number? What details from the phone?

2. Do I need a new sim? Or can I receive the sim that the udp is tied to?

3. Once transferred how can I get my att number over to vzw? If I change the number will I lose unlimited?

I'm trying to avoid calling vzw so that I don't complicate things and lose unlimited data. Any help is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Don't use the online system. It's broken. Call a verizon rep. They forwarded me to an IVR. Google and Verizon have confirmed the request. Verizon's status page says they are in the processing of transferring. So 2 days before trying to port back, and so far it's at least three days for the transfer to go through.

Hi folks,

I've been posting a bunch in the SD thread, but first time over here. I've seen a few requests for an end-to-end guide for flipping the UDPs, but haven't seen one come up. I'm assuming that's intentional. So maybe someone could just PM me? ;-)

Anyway, I have a specific question -- If I ordered a new UDP line from apple, and pick up the phone in store - do I have to do anything special to sell them off separately? If I sell the phone first, won't it still be on the line? Do I need move the line to another phone before I can sell the phone? Or do I need AOL the line before I sell the phone?

Thanks!

Thanks for the info! Glad to know I'm not the only person this happened to. I shipped the phone directly back to Apple, so a store manager isn't an option. I called Verizon and they transferred me to another department, which I suspect was Tier 2 support. I was told to get in touch with Apple and have them initiate the removal process with Verizon. The tech stated he made a notation in my account that I had called in reference to this and also that I have a credit memo receipt that can be provided as proof of return. I'll post another update after getting this sorted in case anyone else can benefit from what I learn.

i meant no disrespect at all. i was literally in the middle of replying, then totally forgot….. but i am really thankful of everyone's help!

I was able to get a line AOLed, signed up with Verizon online, confirmed the unlimited is there. Went to try and buy a new UDP, no such luck. Is there anything specific I need to do? The new AOL is still on a Nationwide plan.

I am long out of contract on a single Nationwide Talk & Text 450 Plan with unlimited data and I attempted to add a line on apple.com with no success.
No option to pick an unlimited plan. Takes me straight to the screen where I would need to pick one of those shared "MORE everything" data plans. Doesn't seem to be any way around it.
Pretty disappointing since I wanted a new iphone 6 plus, and the wife wanted to switch to verizon anyway, so adding a line would've worked out great after dealing with that number porting hassle. Oh well, we'll have to wait for something else to pop up.

Just thought I'd add my experience in case anyone is trying to figure out which customers may be excluded from this loophole.

still works for me

didiee, oh so you have the same plan?

I do have an employer discount as well. I wonder if that makes a difference?
That's even more disappointing that I'm excluded:(

employer discount only on primary line. i also believe it's only on voice, not on data.
i am not sure if you need be family plan to begin…. i started with family shared 700 minutes….

I tried to port the GV number back to VZW online, but it wouldn't process. I just called 888-844-7093 (port support) and was transferred to the Porting Center Customer Service. The rep was really confused how I switched the number on the account but still had access to it. Anyways, he processed the port and said it would talk up to 10 business days.

People have had success with adding a new udp line when they started out with a family plan and individual plan. It just doesn't work for everyone. No idea why I suppose....

My discount is applied on both voice and data. discount is applied separately since voice and data are different line items.
id lean toward the issue preventing me from taking advantage of this is the lack of not having an existing family plan on the old talk & text plans though, not the data discount.

Exactly - there has been a lot of hit or miss, and doesn't seem to be a consistent pattern to who can do it and who can't.

Though, FWIW, I wasn't able to do it for several days (tried a bunch of different browsers, all times of day, etc), and then one day it just clicked and I could order new lines. Not sure what changed.

 argh, darn this info... gonna make me obsess and stalk the site now hoping for a change lol
