I have an UDP on my line and wife has 2gb on her plan. If I get a new line added under apple and pick UDP, how can I switch the wife's 2gb line over to that? And how would I get rid of her original 2gb plan? just curious if that is possible to do or not.

Is her line still under contract?

Success with number porting and keeping UDP

I added additional line through Apple.com with ship to home option with UDP and I selected unlimited messaging option even though I did not had that option in my plan. I was having Pay per use messaging plan. While placing the order I requested my vonage landline number to be ported this new line.

As suggested in this forum, unlimited messaging would have prevented the new phone from activating so I added unlimited messaging plan ($30 for all lines) before activation so as to get around this issue.

After I received the phone, I turned on and it wouldn't activate. I called Verizon to ask why new line is not showing up in my account and they said it can take 3 days for number to port. After 3 days the line did not show up so I called again and this time I made it to credit department and they added new line on my account and they said turn on phone to activate. After that first I checked if I had UDP for new line in my account and it was there. But even after this phone would not activate and Verizon said there is issue with phone and asked me to go Apple Store to get phone replaced.

I went to Apple store and they tried everything but phone would not activate and they were giving me replacement iPhone 6 plus but then I told them that when I ordered this phone initially it shown shipping date in last week of October but I received it on Oct 2nd only so whether activation instruction was sent to Verizon or not and they realized that that can be an issue and they sent activation request to Verizon and asked me to wait for 24 hours which just completed today evening. I started the phone and it got immediately activated and it still has UDP.

It was long tiring process with couple of hours on call with Verizon to find out what happened with number porting, reaching to Credit department to get new line added, Apple store visit, but overall it was worth as I got new live with UDP.

Just for some info..

I am on Nationwide Talk/Text, 700min plan.

Line 1 - HTC One unlimited (off contract)
Line 2 - iPhone 5s unlimited (contract)
Line 3 - iPhone 5 unlimited (off contract)
Line 4 - LG enV3 dumb phone (off contract)
Line 5 - LG enV3 dumb phone (contract)

I canceled line 4. That gave me a spot to add a line. I went to apple.com, ordered an iPhone 6, 64GB, and chose the unlimited data plan. That was on the 3rd of Oct. Phone arrived today, I turned it on, activated it, and now have a 4th line with unlimited data. I also swapped the sim cards between the Line 2 and 4. Here's how the account looks now.

Line 1 HTC One - unlimited (off contract)
Line 2 iPhone 6 - unlimited (contract)
Line 3 iPhone 5 - unlimited (off contract)
Line 4 iPhone 5s - unlimited (contract + data contract) *new line
Line 5 LG enV3 - dumb phone (contract)

if you just want an iPhone… use other methods to get a phone.
if you want a udp…. plenty of people who will transfer you one for cheap/free….

want both. i still have an iphone 4, so i dont even have a sim that i can simply pop in as instructed in the other methods. would seem convenient to be lucky enough to add a line with udp as majority of the people out there:(

i thought that wouldn't work….. when you choose new line and port number…. i made that mistake the other day… had to play port-a-thon to get everything right….. but good for you man!

Wow you got lucky TWICE: 1) VZW didn't auto switch you to a 2GB line when you called about activation and 2) that the apple store was able to update the activation date for you.

Similar to Campguy I got my iPhone6+ early via ship to home last Friday (originally scheduled Oct 14-21) and couldn't activate it. I worked through Apple Support for 6 hours over the weekend including doing an iTunes restore but no luck. Finally decided if I could get lucky with Verizon asking for a tier 2 tech but they added the account as a 2GB line. Even then the phone still wouldn't activate but I immediately asked to cancel it and return the phone. Called apple to initiate a return on Saturday and said I wanted to return in store on Monday and the support woman said sure sounds good, I'll send you a return shipping label in case you change your mind on going to the store. Turns out that was a bad idea. Found out in the store on Monday that her ordering the return label blocked me from doing a store return. Called Apple support to override which they did (force canceled the return label) but still no dice after waiting 10 minutes and trying multiple times. Decided to try again today, still not working in their system. Was on with apple support another hour while in store, going to try one more time tomorrow with the help of their ISNT team ("there super special hacker team") to fix the system. Then I will make sure to call VZW to get someone on the line to talk to the store manager to confirm the return and wait the 72 hours to try and do a store-pickup on Monday.

Note to anyone wanting to return an apple.com order DO NOT REQUEST A SHIPPING LABEL, just take it into the store and they should be able to help you.

No, my problem is with people like you because you have a choice. Instead of choosing to add a line or two to get subsidized phone to make a few extra dollars and calling it a day, you choose to bleed the glitch dry. Now thousand of people every day could suffer network congestion.

I only added two lines. That's my choice because I enjoyed vzw fast and broad lte network and want to preserve that experience to other vzw customers.
I'm in, now shut the door, eh?

Even with 22% of Verizon's subscribers having UDP, 95% of users use less than 4.7GB of data per month.

Many people, my mom is one of them, want UDP simply b/c they don't want to monitor their data usage. She doesn't even hit 2GB in a month but simply doesn't want to have to think about it.

a couple thousand unlimited accounts isn't going to congest the system

People just don't understand supply and demand. If there are a lot out there, then the price will go down and be competitive. That's the way capitalism works.
I had one account and sold it. Do I wish I got more, yep. But it is what it is. I doubt asking someone to buy from you for more money when they can get it elsewhere for half is going to work. Would you pay double for your phone while there are plenty out there and people are selling for half?
ikr.
