It’s been a really long time since I’ve done a launch day on an iPhone. Anybody have any insight on when these things typically start moving into “Preparing for Shipment” and then actually shipping?

I couldn’t get my Apple App order in until 3:20am and got a delivery date of 11/17-11/24. I called in through T-Mobile and got overnight delivery with a date of 11/2-11/3.
Took about 10 minutes after the hour of opening and refreshing the stupid Apple Store App and switching between att.com and the Apple.com website and the app came up before all 3. I was preapproved for my IUP plan and that part was a breeze but by the time the app actually let me in I was already getting a November 17-24 delivery for a Silver 256 GB. 
I hope this is just them over estimating the date.

Ordered as soon as the store opened and delivery defaulted to 11/10-11/17. I'd also like to know if anyone got an earlier date.

Yayy!! I got it!! In-store pickup November 3rd!!!
App didn't work for me, but the website was up by 3:10 a.m. (probably because everyone was trying to the use the app lol). I couldn't even get the app to load until about 3:30, long after I did my order through the site.
I was gonna do delivery, but it said 2-3 weeks, so I tried my luck with in-store pickup. Next Friday at 10 a.m. Went back about 5 minutes later to do a test order to see where shipping dates were at, and it said "currently unavailable for pickup." I GOT LUCKY!
Quick question: Does anyone know how in-store pickup works? Do I need to get there early and wait in line like everyone else? Or can I just show up at 10 a.m. and skip the line? Also, am I given priority over those who DIDN'T pre-order? Meaning, is my iPhone separated from the ones they're selling to walk-ins and GUARANTEED as long as I'm there by pick-up time?

If you have a launch day delivery date, they will start shipping around this weekend. My card has been charged already so that means that it will be shipping out soon.
I had friends on AT&T and there's went right through. Mine too 30 minutes for the carrier response on the Apple app.

Finally placed my order at 9:07 and delivery scheduled 20-27 nov.
But I'm kind of scared since I can't see my order through the normal website, but in the app I am able to see my order....

Pre-order on App got delivery date. Pre ordered two and only need one lol. Guess I have an extra 256GB silver att for being all nervous
Locked mine in at 3:05 Eastern for store pickup at Fifth Ave. NYC, 8-8:30am. It’s going to be madness.
At this point I'm pretty sure that all T-Mobile iPhones run out of stock within seconds on Apple's website. I kept refreshing both the iPhone app and the website every 3 seconds and the app finally came up at 00:05. Placed my pre-order within seconds (had the iPhone saved into favorites and my billing info updated the night before + Touch ID, so no password entry).
Got a Nov 10 - Nov 17 delivery window. Slightly disappointed but it could've been worse (last year's jet black 7+ was a nightmare).

That was rouuuuuugh here in Switzerland. I mananged to get in at 09.06 and luckily my phone of choice (Silver, 64 GB) was still available for day one (yes beeebe). But my favorites were also not visible at the bottom either, as some reported which was disappointing.

It possibly sounds like you didn’t go through and confirm your intent to preorder with your carrier before ordering (I did mine two weeks ago on my phone as a step to get it all ready to go), it probably is waiting to confirm you are eligible for an upgrade it sounds like. It is just another step you can do. So that would have to go through before it can be ordered I assume so they will probably notify you what your delivery is by the time that all happens. Someone else may have more info and/or if that is incorrect.
