Dude. Maybe I should pass on upgrading this year....
Whenever I actually get that phone in hand I'm sure I'll forget all about this 🤣

Hey @nateatlarge If I remember correctly you had some hiccups with your delivery. Overall how was your experience?

UPS was the big issue across the board. The accessories this year seem to be starting poorer then in recent years. UPS and Apple did not work together at all. Apple and UPS have completely different information, but I am going to dumb that down to slow server updates.

The big issue I had with UPS was them charging me Money and not delivering on the date selected (I knew I wasn't going be get delivered but wishful thinking because the date was before delivery)

Over all.... If you ignore UPS..... AND Apple Accessories I am loving the iPhone 12 Pro. Feels great in the hand. Feels sturdy. I always condom up my phones with a case and screen protector because I work in a manufacturing environment.

I always use Spigen products for screen protector and cases.

Here are the cases and screen protectors I use to condom up my phone.

Seems delayed again...No flight no update. Oct30 on website but Oct27 on UPS

I am a firm believer that you need to wrap your phone before you tap your phone.....
Hahaha... thanks for your input in your post above this one as well. I too am a firm believer of USING ALL THE PROTECTION

I wound up getting the MagSafe clear case from Apple (wah waaaah), iCarez Tempered glass screen protector, and an Anker 20W brick... now if ONLY that damn phone would arrive.

It really sucks you paid the money for an inaccurate window. Bah. I have a teeny tiny bit of hope I will get my phone by the 29th and the lack of scans isn't raising my hopes.

Welp... I know what NOT TO DO next year.

Ok you guys. I really need to decide if I should hold for pick up even though that is still an obstacle for me with work... or if I should let the dice roll on a chance for a smooth delivery.

If I'm still lucky enough for the package to come on the 28th... though I'm nearly giving up on this date but part of me is scared to make any changes. If I have any chance in getting this phone before my trip and by the 29th I don't know if it's wiser to hold (since I'm not sure if that will impact my window) or chance it with a delivery. Both methods something can go wrong. SIGH.

I guess my phone first has to leave China before I start stressing myself over the actual delivery.

If you can hold for pickup at a Customer Center rather than a UPS Store, I think it’s your best option (assuming that the CC hours work for you). They will hold it for 5 days if you can’t pick it up on the 28th, and you can call them and request that they hold it until you’re back from your trip (no guarantee that they’ll do this, but they are often accommodating). I believe this is less risky than chancing what the driver might do.

If the driver misses you on the 28th and attempts delivery another day, he might just leave it on your porch while you’re on your trip.

Yep, looks similar to mine. Hang in there but let's not get our hopes up either. I really didn't want to have to follow my phone from China. If I didn't have a "need by" date this would be fun.... but instead it's just torture.
Yes, my old 8p is not charging at random times... so I really hope the new one can arrive earlier. I ordered 2 min before the start time but still in the second wave.

Right... if I hold for pick up does it change my delivery day or does it become available the day of scheduled delivery? Well, the hours don't work for me but to hell with it. I'll just have to tell my boss I need to go. I'm going to call my local CC in Van Nuys and confirm their hours. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. is not great for me but oh well.

It's been about 48 hours since I finally picked up the Pro at UPS. A few thoughts after this wekeend
- Love the Color -- I went with Pacific Blue. This is my first non grey/black iPhone and I think it looks sharp
- The angles and square shape really reminds me of my old 4S (not a bad thing). Sexy.
- Camera is great, overall performance feels snappy and responsive.
- The MagSafe charger is sharp and I like the way it works.
- I bought the Apple Clear case so I could show off the color and so I could be sure I had a MagSafe compatible case. I don't love it. Buttons hard to press and it smudges easily. Seeing that 3rd party cases seem to work well with MagSafe (the magnets from the phone work through especially thin cases) -- I'm leaning towards replacing this Apple case. Can I still return it after opened?
- I got 128 GB. That was a mistake -- should have gone 256.

I carry 2 phones -- one work and one personal -- and this is the upgrade from my personal 8 Plus. I carry a 11 Pro Max for work and... I've got to say that it has been a bit of an adjustment going down in size to the 12 Pro. I opted for the Pro over the Max this time so I could have 2 phones with different footprints but using both side by side as I do.. makes the 12 pro feel like a lesser phone than the heavier, larger 11 Pro Max. I'll probably get used to it.

If you hold at a CC it’s the same day. Going to a UPS store could delay it a day.

In a new support document spotted by MacRumors, Apple has quietly warned users that there are some significant downsides to its innovative new MagSafe wireless charging system, that extend beyond concerns about its weak magnets.

In a series of bullet points at the end of the document, Apple warns buyers of iPhone 12 series phones that MagSafe can:
  • Increase heat build up and restrict charging, saying if your iPhone battery gets “too warm” charging will be limited to 80% capacity.
  • Damage the magnetic strips and RFID chips in credit cards, security badges, passports and key fobs if they come between the back of your iPhone and the MagSafe charger. Apple sells a MagSafe Wallet, so be very careful.
  • Damage leather cases used with the charger by leaving “circular imprints”. Similar damage to silicon cases has also been reported after just a few days, so questions must also be asked about what this will do to the glass backs of case-less iPhone 12 models over time.
Interesting warnings about Mag Safe. My Mag Safe charger and 20W block have arrived before the phone, and I’ve been using them with no problem with my XS Max. In fact, charging with the new Mag Safe seems more reliable than with the Belkin charging pad I was using before. Obviously we’ll need to be careful about demagnetizing credit cards and such. Will be interesting to see how they do over time.

As long as it’s the CC and not the Store, it’ll be available day of delivery.

I am starting to wonder if Apple predicts this and it is why we were given 10/30 as our date. Everything looked like they were coming early but man they are not moving now. I still don’t understand why it went somewhat smooth for launch day and not smoothly slightly after launch.

Yeah it's starting to make sense now and it's probable that they are on point. However if we get some movement soon we have a good chance of it arriving at least 1 day early. The thing that bodes well for us is the express shipment we paid for. FINGERS CROSSED. I have faith!! I need to!

I am starting to fear Apple’s date of the 30th is right and not UPS’ of the 28th. First world problem, but I’m not happy.

Ah good point! Forgot about the express shipment!

I saw your post about getting a new tattoo....the question is, did you get it of a 12, 12 pro or the pro max :p
