I apologize if this has been asked, but I have Verizon, my XS Max was bought outright, I will be buying the 12 Pro Max outright, I tried clicking through Verizon's website and I can't order unless I'm the Admin, which I'm not, but if I order through Apple, and chose the setup later option, can I deal with that once I get the phone?

I don't want to get to 7 AM Central to preorder and run into an issue.
You will need the billing zip code at 7am to order(I think) Once the phone arrives you will also need the billing pin.

Can I order a 12 pro Max 256GB direct through apple's app and get 24month financing using an apple credit card if I'm using a prepaid plan? I recall during past years you had to be tied to a carrier, has this changed?

If you are using an Apple Card, you can even buy it SIM free and finance it. I just went through the options again and I selected SIM free, and apple card comes up. The Apple Upgrade program is where you have to pick a carrier.

Exactly what I want! I will go SIM free and do 24 month financing, that fits my needs perfectly. I might have to hop on the apple upgrade program someday, but I don't want to deal with it this year as I'm happy with my existing prepaid plan.

I'm just worried because of the wording in the app, it says 'activate with a carrier later' even if you pick SIM free, so I was hoping I wouldn't be locked out of the phone unless I was activating using a post-paid plan or something

With my prepaid plan, I just pop out the sim, swap it, and it should work without further fiddling. That's how i've done it in past years. So there is no 'activation' as far as I know.

Nope, I always get the SIM free and this year was no different with the 12. Took my SIM out of the 11 Pro and into my 12 and I was done. ”Activate with a carrier later” means that you’re just going to activate your phone and SIM with whatever carrier you have.

Most of ones I have seen were actually earlier than Apple estimated. Fingers crossed.......
Mine shipped Oct 31. But nothing has happened since 3:00 am Nov 1 ZZ time. And the scheduled delivery estimate has been gone for over a day. Either stuck in China some place, or has moved on unupdated, and will be caught up at some point here in the US.

SIM free model is fine. I'm waiting on my Pro that way.
