I think part of it is the anticipation that it won't arrive on-time, in this case the 13th...
Starting around Tuesday/Wednesday of next week, everyone will be checking their order status...And will post here that my phone won't arrive on the 13th! It's still sitting in China...no way it will get here on-time!!
And by the magic of UPS/Fed-Ex and Apple, magically, their phones will go from China Wednesday/Thursday and be out for delivery on Friday! Because of this, everyone starts tracking flights and stuff, because they still can't believe it will arrive on-time...haha

Yeah, it doesn't come sooner (technically) but I get it about 12 hours sooner as I don't have to wait for the truck to drive around all day before getting to my house.

Same here. I’ve always held my iPhones (and lots of unrelated packages, too) at the UPS Customer Center, and I pick them up when the doors open. Don’t have to wait all day on the driver. The drivers have messed up more deliveries for me than the CC.

I'll pass lol, it would drive me crazy constantly obsessing over the tracking. But I respect the community and other's interest in it..... I rather set it and forget it.. I'll probably just check the tracking on the day of to make sure its en route.

It's fun and pretty much a yearly tradition for the iPhone. I see if for almost any pre-orders here on MR - the MBP and iPads also have people who track their orders. You're on a forum full of tech enthusiasts and you don't get the fun in tracking our orders? You've been around a long time too, so you should know, lol

So if I got my 11 through Tmobile and I still owe on it, but I want to trade it in to Apple for a 12 mini, can I do that?
 
2 phones. Both: iPhone 12 Pro Max 512GB Graphite, AT&T - Confirmation 8 minutes past launch, delivery on Nov 13th. Can't wait!

Why not just request a hold for pick up at your nearest UPS CC? *This does not delay the delivery, and depending on when UPS CC opens in your location, you can just pick it up there. I'll plan on doing the UPS CC pick up.

yeah I remember people posting tracking info from like UPS or FEDEX but you guys have gotten really sophisticated by tracking flights all the way from china lol... I was just wondering if there was something else that people were learning from this information thats all.

Don't forget all of the people who see the first estimated delivery date of Nov 11 and think they are going to get their phones early LOL. That was a huge issue for the regular 12 and 12 pro.

If you place 2 identical orders then Apple will fulfill both identical orders because that's what companies do, they fulfill orders. If you wish cancel I recommend you start trying to get in touch with someone at Apple.
