Ordered an unlocked 256GB Pro (non-Max) in blue last weekend, Apple said it'd arrive at the end of November/early December. Bought a Silicone case last night through the Apple Store app for pickup at my local Apple Store and noticed they had the same phone I ordered in stock and available for pickup. Cancelled the delivery order and picked up the new phone today. Now to find a good case.

Not seeing a cancel button on either the app or website. Maybe it's because I ordered with a military discount?

You won't see the cancel order button until the order updates to "Processing". Then you would have a couple of hours to cancel because when the order updates to Preparing to Ship you won't be able to cancel it.

I didn't get in until that time either, at least not into the military site. Verizon app was fine. The Apple store app on my iPhone seemed fine until I tried to check out and got an error saying that I needed to call in. Not sure what happened there when I have more than enough on that credit card. I prayed that the launch date hadn't slipped when I finally got into the website which also had a weird flow, but it took everything, including the same credit card I had on file.

I'm just happy that it processed and it will be here next Friday. My beautiful blue iPhone that I've always wanted. I'm so thankful... especially after Comcast knocked out my cable/internet service this afternoon, but that's whole 'nother story, smh.

Omg I would’ve been livid if they did to me. I also received the same message you did through the app which prompted me to use my laptop to complete my order. I also just ordered my first Apple silicon case in Pink Citrus to be delivered on Wednesday. I like the color with the Pacific Blue. I can’t believe I chose that color besides Gold. I usually go with lighter colored iPhones but decided to switch it up this year.

I would love to do in-store pickup but I’m so paranoid there’s going to be a problem with a backup or something and I always like to have my old phone to make sure everything goes well instead of trading it in in the store

True. I can always count on my carrier to make ordering very easy, but it becomes a nightmare afterwards, year after year. It's amazing, really, but I'm done. Free at last!

Me too. I like ordering through Apple better. Plus I wouldn’t see any status updates until 2 days before the device was to be delivered.

Does in store pickup charge your card a few days before launch, or only the day of?

you dont trade it in there. They just give you the phone, then a box will come days later for you to send your old one back....its great, always do in store! The best part, You never have to check tracking for a week straight...lol

Store pick up over delivery with risk of damage or porch pirates.
I'm not too worried about porch pirates because I always request a hold for pick up at my nearest UPS CC. So for me it's no different than picking it up at the apple store. Plus apple store near me converted to express pick up so people will just be picking up orders that's it.

few days before launch. Couple years ago, when I choose the in-store pick up, I remember that it was on the day off around 2 am when I saw the e-mail that it was ready for pick up so sometime after midnight my card was charged.

I should have done in store pick up for early morning. Once I got home and thought about it some more, the check in times were already late afternoon so, not worth it at that point. Conversely, I would have hated to make a in store pick up and Tim decides to lock down all the stores in the state again.
Don’t put that in my head I have an 8 sharp pickup window at my store
