Finally prepared for shipment

I was getting worried, but my order status finally changed. I ordered on the 15th around 1:30 PM EST.

Looks like more and more people are having their orders changed from Not Yet Shipped to Prepared for Shipment.

My status changed early this morning to Prepared for Shipment.

Nothing yet for me :( I ordered 4:35 pm PDT. I know I shouldn't but I'm worried....

You shouldn't be worryed. When apple shipped the pre-orders for the iPad everyones order updated at odd times even those who ordered early in the day. So it seems like the iPhone orders are doing the same.

I know I shouldn't be lol. But I can't help it! Haha you talked me down a little though :D

Ordered from Apple.com at 3:00 PM CST on 6/15 and am now prepared for shipment. Contract date is updated on AT&T.com, but have not received CSS email.

I have received my at&t css thing, so does that mean that my iphone 4 is about to ship?

This is good news

Okay I am in the Logistics and Distribution business and I know several of the folks who manage the DCs that are shipping the iPhone for Apple. Believe me, Apple launches are a very big deal for the people on the distribution side. Here is what happens:

About a week before the launch date, there is a flood of 53 foot parcel trailers that enter the gates of the Distribution Center. At that point, orders are released to the warehouse and product begins to flow through the outbound process.

The final steps in that process are packaging of your phone in a shipping box with the accessories that you ordered, a packing list is printed and placed in the box, then it is sealed up. Once this is done, it is manifested to the parcel carrier (address and weight info sent, tracking number returned), the parcel shipping label is applied, and it is sent down a gravity feed conveyor into the parcel trailer.

When you see the status of 'Prepared for Shipment' it means that it has made it through that process, and it is sitting on a shipping trailer at the Distribution Center. You actually have a tracking number assiigned right now, but you wont get it until the trailer actually leaves the Distribution Center.

So if you have seen this status change, it is very good news, indeed.

As far as gettng it early, no chance. There is a private security firm on-site that will prevent ANY of the trailers from leaving. The sealed trailers themselves are sequestered in their own part of the yard so they are easier to manage.

So the next thing that you should expect to see is a shipping confirmation, probably starting early afternoon on the 23rd. This will indicate that the trailer has left the DC and is on it's way to the parcel hub for sorting. Then you'll get the standard tracking updates after that.

If you have not had your status change yet, dont worry. They will continue the fulfilment process well into the day on the 23rd.

By the way... happy to see that mine changed... ordered through Apple on the 15th 7PM Eastern.

One question, how are all the packaged phones that a re now in the tralier(s) kept from getting affected by the heat? I am assuming these trailers are outside.

Wow thanks for the info. I have always wondered how the shipping process works. If you watch last year's shareatt youtube video on shipping the 3gs at what point in the process that you described is that?

For those of you who have seen that their order has changed to shipping. Did u receive an email also notifying you of this?

Do you guys know what I have to do so that they don't need a sig to deliver? I'll be at work during the shipping time and I don't want them to take it back to the warehouse.

Thanks

Hmmm.... I think we will see shipping info starting Monday give or take a day. Definitely before Wednesday afternoon. This seems like your "best guess" at what is happening, not insider info.

Also, is this about the iphones that are in country or the ones that are still in China?

Thanks

Check your apple order status page and when it gives you a tracking number it will have a link next to it to "pre-sign" for you package. It is risky though because they are no longer liable for what happens once they set in on your porch.

I thought they get shipped from Shanghai. So we would need 3 days to ship. i.e. My guess would be shipping Monday

I belive you can change the shipping address.

When i was doing the pre-order from apple.com it does mention the phone will ONLY deliver to the billing address, which is home address.

But after i pre-order i logon to apple.com and click on the order status and changed the shipping address from home to work.

now it showed the shipping address is my work address, also after i changed the address i received an e-mail from apple indicated that i changed the shipping address for this order.

Someone else asked this on here, but no one answered. I ordered two phones on the same Apple account. One is for me and the other is for my husband. I recieved the e-mail from AT&T and my upgrade eligibility has changed. Mine is also prepared for shipping.

However, my husband's is not, still "able" to upgrade, and no e-mail. On my e-mail, since we are on a family plan, it had his information on there on as well (my activation fee was waived and his wasn't).

I am not worried as of yet since it is early and Apple did pre-authorize my card for both, but I was wondering if anyone that has ordered two on the same account is only showing one as prepared and the other as not. Also, any help from past 3GS pre-orders would help.

Finally!!!

I'm in Los Angeles, and mine finally changed to "Prepared for Shipment" this morning.
Ships: Delivers on June 24th
Order Date: Jun 15, 2010 at 04:34 PM PDT

I had the same thing until just this am... 2 phones, 2 lines, family plan, 2 orders. One went prepared yesterday mid-day, the other not until this morning. I did, however, get both CSS yesterday (although 8 hours apart and not in the same order they went prepared) There doesnt seem to be any reasoning for the timing. Hang in there.
