Someone else asked this on here, but no one answered. I ordered two phones on the same Apple account. One is for me and the other is for my husband. I recieved the e-mail from AT&T and my upgrade eligibility has changed. Mine is also prepared for shipping.

However, my husband's is not, still "able" to upgrade, and no e-mail. On my e-mail, since we are on a family plan, it had his information on there on as well (my activation fee was waived and his wasn't).

I am not worried as of yet since it is early and Apple did pre-authorize my card for both, but I was wondering if anyone that has ordered two on the same account is only showing one as prepared and the other as not. Also, any help from past 3GS pre-orders would help.

I have the same setup as you. I was waived the activation fee, but my wife wasn't. I just checked both orders and they both are showing prepared for shipping.

go to att -> my profile -> user information -> your husbands user then check when the contract ends also check to make sure he has an email address right there.

if his contract ends in 2012 then things should be ok. otherwise maybe call apple or att? good luck

GREAT INFO, thanks!

One question, how are all the packaged phones that a re now in the tralier(s) kept from getting affected by the heat? I am assuming these trailers are outside.

No problem...

As for heat, 2 things.

1. The load the trailers in such a way that they minimize airspace/maximize product. The trailers themseelves are insulated and other materials are used in the shipping process to further insulate.

2. Packaging. You have a box in a box in a box. All of them essentially air tight. Very difficult for heat energy to build in such a way that will affect the product. They can get very hot, mind you, but that takes quite a while.

Iphone to be collected

My reseration states it will be hold until the day Thur 24th June. Also its first come first serve basis and pre -order reservation does not garuntee availablity of stock.

I have a question. My phone just went to prepared for shipment as well. Before I could preorder it from Apple I had the option to reserve so I made a reservation at my local Apple store. Will this cause any problems? I was planning on canceling the reservation when I know phone has actually shipped, but should I do it earlier? Will it cause any problems if I don't cancel the reservation sooner than that?

Probably not. Once it's gone to "Prepared for Shipment" it's ready for carrier p/u.

I wrote in my post that his has not changed. I never even received an e-mail for him, even though the PDF shows an activation fee (which would be his).

Hmmm.... I think we will see shipping info starting Monday give or take a day. Definitely before Wednesday afternoon. This seems like your "best guess" at what is happening, not insider info.

Also, is this about the iphones that are in country or the ones that are still in China?

Well, Craiger, take it for what its worth. I'm not trying to qualify myself as an 'Apple insider', not by any stretch. I do consulting work in the industry and what I have shared is how the process was explained to me by the General Manager of a third party warehouse that manages Apple product, including iPhones.

My comments would apply to iPhones that are in-country. I am intimately familiar with the Warehouse Management software that the third party uses. Essentially, they would not be able to allocate in-transit inventory to specific orders. They can allocate, pick, and ship only product that has been physically received within their four walls. Any orders in excess of current inventory will go to a backorder status. As product arrives in the facility, it is married with backorders based on a priority that is set by either Apple or themselves.

Now for some conjecture. I dont know for a fact that there is product in-transit from China that will be married with current backorders for the 24th. No idea what the inbound situation is. What I can tell you is that they will continue stuffing trucks with product well into the day on the 23rd for next day delivery.

Why did they cancel it, when did you order?

//E

i dont know i ordered o the 15th it took me from 12am to 9:30pm,7:30pm pacific so i was going to get it on the 24th,my att bill just came past due yesterday i just went on to pay it,could that have something to do with it?,they better fix my order!

Ok, well I am just telling you that last year I got a tracking number 3 days before launch day and when I "tracked" it it was sitting in China. I think a lot of iphones won't ever make it into the "four walls" you speak of and will be handled by UPS from China to my door.

FWIW I do believe you know a TON more about this than I do, but I just know what happen to me last year.

Yep

Yep I bet that is why they cancelled it...late bill will do it every time

1 Account

2 Lines

Both are eligible for upgrades.

Line One= Status has not changed yet from Not Yet Shipped. Ordered on Tuesday at 6 PM PST

Line Two = Status has changed to Prepared to Ship. Ordered 8 AM PST on the 15th

Should I be worried? We ordered with different mobile me accounts and different credit cards but it is going to the same address.....

I just paid my bill due on the 21st so I don't forget. Att makes it so easy to pay a couple days late since they never tack on fees.
