I herd someone said last week at that Apple event. That their wife was in labor and they weren't going to the hospital till the iPhone's were announced! That's Crazy! Does a phone mean more to you than your child?!?

For goodness sake, the child isn't even born yet. Give the Fanboy a break.

For those of you who upgrade your phone every year. Why? Not being mean or anything, just wondering...

Because I can, that's why. If I wasn't going to, I would have been on contract last year and not upgrade until next year. At that time, if AT&T doesn't have contracts anymore, I would still upgrade annually. I want the best iPhone each year.

Priorities! Of course the iPhones are more important! I just hope that the kid would be named Apple, iBaby, or Lightning.

I wouldn't say it's more popular this time. It has more to do with production issues.

If you believe that crap. Every year there is a "production issue." Obviously, I can't know for sure but I believe it is done completely on purpose. Sales forecasts really aren't that difficult to create when you're a mega-billion dollar company. It's a marketing tactic. They want people to say to their friends, "Did you hear the new iPhone sold so well that they ran out of supplies?!"

Makes for an interesting anecdote, that's for sure.

Exactly. I didn't upgrade to Next and suffer through an extra $50/month just so I would decide not to upgrade. And this is no small upgrade.

Apple/AT&T figured out a way to sucker me into upgrading every year. I'd feel just awful not rewarding that level of effort and creativity.

I upgrade every year because to me it's worth it. Every year your current phone depreciates in value. So after 1 year it goes down in value about $300. The next year it goes down about $200. So to upgrade every year really only costs about $100 more than it does every 2 years. That to me is worth it to always have the newest, best phone.

I believe the "production issues" we always hear about are past issues. They wouldn't go into the special event with a hard date only to find out that the yield on a critical component is now at 90% and they have to add a new manufacturer. They have enough issues with the stock price dropping after an event because everyone is so unimpressed with whatever was introduced. Remember, Tim Cook is a supply chain god. He knows exactly how to make this work.

Exactly. Well-put.

They didn't have to add a new manufacturer. There are two manufacturers of the part in question, the other manufacturer has had its orders increased, but it does take time to catch up. The 5s was supply constrained on the TouchID sensor (IMO, that's why they did the 5c, no sensor needed).

"Honey. My everything. My love. My rock. Can you please hold your labor until launch day?? We need to film OUR birth in 4K 30fps!!"

The 6 Plus was made exclusively by Foxconn and that's likely how it will be with the 6s Plus. In my opinion, they would have learned by now how to avoid "production issues."

Maybe once, sure. The people at Apple are not dumb; there are no real production issues unless they're creating them.

It is assembled by Foxconn. Foxconn doesn't make all of the parts that go into the phone. The part in question is the 6s+ backlight.

I read it. You don't understand what I'm saying. Not that my opinion matters, but I don't believe there are any supply or production issues, so I am not inclined to believe the article.

Why the hell are you bringing Foxconn into it? They have nothing to do with the backlight except to receive it and assemble it into the phone. Apple decides who will supply the backlight, Apple places the orders, not Foxconn. Yes, things do go wrong sometimes.

You still keep going on about the damn backlight. Read my post; I'm not going to continue repeating myself.

You believe it's completely implausible that a manufacturer would have issues filling orders? Hell, it would be shocking if there were no issues at any of the manufacturers for any of the hundreds of items that go into an iPhone. That's why Apple sources multiple suppliers whenever possible. And I still don't see what Foxconn has to do with component supply issues.

He is saying unlike the 5/5s that had production issues consisting of chipped and scratched edges when people received them brand new, Foxconn is steaming along as fast as it can without problems.

I think. :/

Wow, I ordered the exact same phone about 6 minutes before you did. My card got a pending charge yesterday, but nothing on the support profile, and my phone is still in Processing Items. Wow, aren't you special! (If it isn't obvious, I'm pretty sure this is a troll.)

No, I do not think it's implausible at all. What I'm saying and what you seem to fail to understand is that, while I accept things can go wrong sometimes, I refuse to believe that things will go wrong every time.

And I still don't see why you won't relent with regard to Foxconn. I'm talking about my own personal belief that the "supply issues" are an illusion and a marketing tactic.
