Apple.com pre-orders: Who's stuck in "Preparing for Shipment"

Mines still at Preparing for Shipment and I haven't gotten a shipment e-mail but I can look up my order through UPS so I'm good.

Mine has been stuck on preparing shipment too. I'm not worried about it though, when I preordered my iPad earlier this year it did the same thing. I'm guessing it's the same reason. I still got the iPad on time, it just took a while for the shipping info to get into the system.

Everyone should be "stuck" at that on the Apple site - Apple holds back the updates until it gets closer.

Hmm. Not so much. Note that the white phone was ordered ~ 30 mins after the black phone.

No UPS info for me yet

The UPS Reference thing didn't work Got my phone Reserved at 4AM EST and Processed and Completed at 10AM EST on Oct 7th so hopefully it shows on UPS soon

I suspect that there was one (or more) large containers packed to the brim with 32GB black iphones (probably the most popular amongst pre-orders) shipped to Louisville or other hub to save on shipping.

This is ridiculous. I ordered 2 about 1 minute apart from each other. One is in Anchorage Alaska, and the other is still "preparing for shipment".


Edit: I spoke too soon! Did the UPS tracking reference trick and both phones are now shipped

Just curious: are they both the same size & color?

Sweet...Apple still hasn't updated, but I was able to do the ref search on ups and my phone has finally shipped.

I just found my shipping number on UPS using "Search by Reference". I thought the reference number was my cellphone number, but it was actually my house number. I hope that helps some of you.

It's whatever phone number is associated to the account that you used to purchase the phone. This could be your cell number, but not necessarily.

I thought the same thing. But for me it was the number associated with my billing address, which is my home number.

I ordered 3 iPhones on my family plan but all different orders(transactions) but always, 2 of my iPhones (64gb black) are "preparing fior shipment." but my other iPhone (64gb white) still says "processing item." and on top of that I ordered the white iPhone first. So is it a white iPhone thing that's why? Oh yea side note, my AppleCare+ says complete and on the other 2 black iPhones it says processing item. What gives? I searched on ups and fed ex but no luck yet.

Ordered a 32G White for AT&T at 7:30am on Friday....still shows "processing" and the UPS and FedEx look up trick aren't working for me. Fingers crossed that it ships out in time for Friday delivery

Yes, how dare people who spent money on a 650-850 dollar phone want to know where it is. I can't fathom why anyone would want to do this! For a lot of people if it doesn't ship Friday it means they don't have to find someone to sign for the package.

Mine too!,Crisis averted! Now have both tracking numbers...Now hopefully I can pick them up at UPS instead of waiting for delivery. I wont be home that day and I dont feel confortable leaving 500$ worth of Apple goodies on my doorstep...

My order has been showing as "Preparing for Shipment" for several days now but finally (earlier this morning) I was able to determine a UPS tracking number using the search-by-reference trick.

Mine is a southern California-bound black 64GB, and the latest scan is an origin scan in Shenzhen.

UPS trick says its in Hong Kong waiting for UPS. Says I will get it by End of Day Fri. I prefer Fedex as they deliver in the am and I don't have to sit waiting for it all day.

I ordered at around 4:45am on Oct 7 and I'm still stuck at Preparing for Shipment. The UPS trick doesn't work for me. I'm pretty sure I'll get Friday delivery but I was hoping to get lucky and get the phone on Thursday.
