Apple.com pre-orders: Who's stuck in "Preparing for Shipment"

Portland, OR - Still preparing for shipment, and my credit card charge for the phone which had been "pending" for the last couple of days has now vanished entirely. No luck with the FedEx/UPS trick.

My 64GB, black order was confirmed by 3AM PST on 10/7.

Still certain I'll receive the phone on Friday.
 
Finally got my phone to show up on UPS. It's ready for pickup from China with a delivery by end of day for Friday. Still no change on Apple's site.
 
I don't even care about actually tracking my phone, I just want to be able to know it has shipped and is not canceled or going to be canceled.
 
I just got a tracking number by doing the UPS trick although the apple store says its still preparing for shipment (it's in china somewhere - im in palo alto btw). i talked to an apple rep earlier today to request it be shipped to a different address (my college address instead of my parents house) and she said she would put a notice to change that when it ships. does that mean that as soon as apple recognizes it being shipped it they would change the shipping address? cause UPS still has it being shipped to my parents house. sorry if this has already been brought up! Thanks guys.

Same here. To be completely honest, I'm even ok with getting it after the 14th. I'm away on business and won't be able to activate mine (my wife will activate hers though sometime that weekend) until the weekend of the 21st.

I'm going on vacation the week of the 23rd, and I wanted the 4S for that. Looks like that will happen.

Same here my money went back on my account still waiting for a change

Yeah, I keep seeing people getting their orders canceled. I'm just hoping that doesn't happen to me or anybody else at this point.

Finally got my UPS order to come up with the order number minus the last two digits trick! Now, to find the flights!

Mine just popped up too. So they are shipping 2nd day air i assume? Will it get here in the morning (by 10:30am) or night?

UPS

1) Click Track by reference number
2) enter phone number as reference number (phone number you placed order with not necessarily the line you use for phone)
3)?
4) Profit
 
Got my UPS tracking info!

Looks like the theory of Apple shipping from within the states doesn't apply to me. I'm from San Diego. I've been trying the UPS trick since last night, and just a few minutes ago...bam! My beautiful iPhone is floating around China! Hopefully it'll land somewhere in the U.S. by tomorrow evening! :)
PS - Although I still have not received a shipping e-mail from Apple :apple:

Just got mine too. Everybody should retry it right now if yours wasn't working. Seems like they just updated for a bunch of us.
 
Finally got my shipment email from apple. My phone is currently in china, but is supposedly going to be shipped to my house in Tulsa by the end of the day Friday. Works for me!
 
Is anybody else having trouble getting ups.com to load? I haven't been able to get the trick to work, and now that it seems to be working for a lot more people, I'm trying to test it myself but the site is acting extremely slow...

Used order number -2 digits + all three phone #s on my contract.

I ordered mine around 6:30am Friday morning eastern time. I haven't received anything from Apple yet but I did the UPS trick, and viola, it worked! I have been trying for the last two days. So needless to say I was getting a little nervous like some of u guys as well, but it showed up finally tonight.

Last year I received an email from Apple saying that I would receive my iPhone 4 on Wednesday, the day before release day, without a doubt. Well, on Tuesday my iPhone was in Alaska, and I was like, there's no way that I am getting this tomorrow! So I started watching the flights and overnight and quickly my iPhone went from Alaska to Ohio and then to Connecticut. And from Connecticut on a truck to my house by 9:30am Wednesday! Needless to say I was shocked at how far it traveled in such short of a time. So when u guys get your tracking numbers and they say that u will get them on Friday good chance that's exactly what's going to happen! Good luck guys, but u probably won't need it! Later
