Okay, just had the sweetest Apple rep every, she was honestly a sweetheart lol But she sent in a request to UPS to have it held and she promised me that I would be able to pick it up on Friday morning when the facility gets their shipment. Also I got a email from Apple saying, "We have notified the carrier of your request to hold your delivery for pickup."
So hopefully all goes well! Thanks for everyones help tonight, this stuff is stressful
So have we decided when the UPS party starts? I'm thinking midnight tonight ET. I say ET because the packages are with UPS now and not apple.
iPhone 5 showed up in Support Profile.
Phone is still in KY... just now logged into support profile and iphone5 showed up with serial number.. Friday can't come sooner

Called Apple when I got off work today just out of curiosity to ask about my tracking information. My phones both still say "preparing for shipment" so I was feeling a bit antsy so figured I'd ask.
The Rep told me that it still shows as being delivered on the 21st and all is well. He told me that Apple will begin shipping tomorrow and that I should receive an email with all the tracking info sometime after 12am.
So I'll be checking my email when I wake up in the morning and hopefully find some new information.
As long as it gets here by the 21st, that's all I care about. It would suck to have to go all weekend without the new toy.

I think it's fair to say that everyone in the USA who ordered from Apple.com is still "preparing for shipment". "Shipment" notice and official tracking numbers most likely to show up tomorrow.
Mine says the same 'preparing for shipment'. I checked UPS tracking info and it says its in Louisville, KY though.
Mine left Anchorage this morning at 1:00 am. Must be flying in circles as it has not arrived anywhere else
As pointed out in the OP and a number of other posts, KY is a staging area for a huge number of the ip5s that are going to be delivered on Friday. They have not offically shipped at this time, thus no shipping notice. They will ship tomorrow, we will all get the shipment emails and will thereafter flood this thread with the news. We will also likely push the post count well over 6,000!

Same here, except it was 2am CST.
And see, that's what I don't understand. Not that it really matters but it's just the simple fact that I've read dozens that have done it the same way I did and have been able to track their packages through UPS but for some odd reason mine can't be tracked.
It's not like I think it will get here any quicker, it's just that I want to see mine like everyone elses, sitting in Louisville or whereever, kind of frustrating.

Some of you don't understand. UPS & Fedex move stuff ALL DAY EVERY DAY that's all they do is move things from A to B. Obviously they do other stuff to but they primarily do logistics. If my phone is in kentucky and i'm on the west coast or on the other side of the planet, I wouldn't bat an eye even if these guys waited until the day of delivery to ship because they have such a vast network that it'll still be in my hands. In my 11 years of ordering stuff the only time something got screwed up was courtesy of USPS.
So unless I don't see a tracking update by 3:00 PM friday then i'm good.
