The phone I ordered 7 minutes after the first has alway been ahead in the queue, often by several hours. It has a lower order number than the first one.
For these purposes it's another carrier.
Ignore what others have said. You can use the phone on the number that was issued all you want. When you are ready to port, contact AT&T and they will start the process (assuming you're going from Simple Talk to AT&T). You can do it Friday or wait 2 months. Just whenever you are ready.
The official UPS tracking doesn't appear to be picking up the location scans like some of the other third part sites. packagemapping is showing me both phones are in Louisville, while UPS.com is not.
What the heck. I haven't read the entire thread, but I preordered the early morning of Friday the 14th. I wasn't surprised that the opening Friday delivery wasn't going to happen, but now it's showing expected delivery October 5. This is my first time trying to preorder instead of going to the store in person. Is this normal?
Oh! You got lucky. Hers says by 10:30am, mine by end of day. So it's most likely two different trucks. Happened last year too.
Keep checking, mine just updated about 10 mins ago...

I received my Apple email this morning, but my package was still marked as departed from AK.
I just refreshed and now I see the import scan for KY. Arrival by 10:30AM tomorrow.

Yes, it's normal. Once the pre-order inventory was sold, the delivery date slipped to Oct 5. Current delivery dates are 3 - 4 weeks out.
My phone has been sitting in KY since the 18th now, I am starting to worry... I am in NJ. UGH
I was thinking the same thing, but it's overnight. And I notice from other packages it can leave at 10PM tonight and get there at 5AM and still get to you. So no worries. As everyone in this thread has stated Apple has this going well and UPS is working too. Whether we get it at 3PM or 10AM it'll come tomorrow. I'm sure they are already sorted in KY and ready to go out tonight and in your hand tomorrow.

Since it says Import. WTH now they go through customs in the middle of the country instead of the boarder?
So, for some who said mass shipping, and then the rest of us who said its going to happen tonight.... For me at least, it looks like we or tonight is right.

Sigh. This isn't Apple's, UPS' or FedEx's first rodeo. The odds are very high you will get your phone tomorrow. If you don't, worrying accomplishes nothing. Posting that you're worrying accomplishes even less.

Our current phones are 4s (not 4Ss, heh), which we were waiting on line for at the Apple store two years ago. Apple fouled up activating her phone that year, so I wonder what joys are in for us this time 'round. This waiting for UPS is a whole different experience of pain/pleasure vs. waiting on a line...
