Is the email with the delivery date from Apple absolute? Did anyone get their phone earlier than the email stated?

The only delivery date thus far was last Friday and the carriers were not supposed to deliver before, or after, then. A few people reported early delivery, but not many and the carriers who delivered early, or late, probably violated their agreement with Apple.
Will yours arrive early? No one knows. I've received early deliveries from Apple in the past, you might, too.
True. Either way, UPS tracking should reflect the status of my package, yes? So I'd know if it were on the way early or delayed?

I was able to change my shipped to address. I had mine shipped to the UPS Store because I was out of town. I am picking my iPhone 5 up this morning.
The UPS Store hours vary from store to store. Some are not open very late if you get off work late.
If you want to change the address you have to create or use a existing MyUPS account. UPS charges a $5 fee to reroute a package to a different address. It is easy to set one up.
You can have it held at the UPS distribution center for free and you can do this by using MyUPS. I have heard of people being able to call UPS and have this done too.
If your package is being sent FedEx I believe you can reroute it too for no charge. I rerouted my iPad 2 to the FedEx Kinkos. It has been a while so I don't know if they have changed any of their policies.

Go to the apple store and request a new sim. Then go to Verizon and activate. That's what I did and I'm good now.
Holy hell, I wish I had the photos of the box my phone came in... Looks like it was run over a few times, luckily everything inside was perfect.

I was amazed at how small the box was that the iPhone 5 was shipped in. I thought there would be more padding around the inner iPhone box. It is amazing more don't get damaged.
I think you could get a few thousand iPhone 5 's in the back of one of those UPS delivery trucks.
Poor UPS guys. I bet they hate iPhone Launch Day. They probably felt like something the cat drug in on Friday night.
Apple and UPS or FEDEX know the shipping schedules and they can predict the delivery date well. It is rare that a device is early, rare and more often it is late, usually due to system breakdown or weather. The USPS often delivers early, but all I've seen from UPS and FEDEX is when it looks like the package is going to be available for delivery early, it get held up somewhere, perhaps for higher priority packages.

It originally said I wouldn't get it until October 5th then it shipped on the 21st and I got an email from Apple saying it would be here on the 27th but the tracking info says the phone is already in my state (Missouri) and I chatted with a UPS rep. and they said it would be at my house tomorrow before 10:30AM. So yeah, it is possible to get your phone early!

Awesome news...congrats! I originally had a delivery of Oct 5, but mine shipped out this weekend. It just left S. Korea about an hour ago. Anyone know how long it takes from there? My email says delivery by this Friday, Sep 28, but I'm hoping it's here by Wed.

I don't have an estimated delivery date on the UPS tracking page, so I was also wondering how long it takes to get from S. Korea to the states.
You got it...must be same flight/shipment. On more thought, I would guess 8 hours for the flight to the west coast; then another 3-6 hours to a regional distribution. So not really looking like Wed is a possibility.

So I've been obsessivly tracking my iPhone since receiving tracking info... (apple says my black 16GB ATT phone will be at my doorstep on Friday the 28th)
But boy is the UPS info weird!
From what I can tell, the phone originated in Zheng Zhou on the 22nd... UPS picked it up there at 9:10pm today, then it arrived again in Zheng Zhou at 9:25pm...
I'm hoping that the 9:25pm info means it arrived at the Zheng Zhou airport, and is headed to the US, NOT that they turned the UPS truck around!
Can anyone confirm that they had similar tracking experience?

But boy is the UPS info weird!
From what I can tell, the phone originated in Zheng Zhou on the 22nd... UPS picked it up there at 9:10pm today, then it arrived again in Zheng Zhou at 9:25pm...
I'm hoping that the 9:25pm info means it arrived at the Zheng Zhou airport, and is headed to the US, NOT that they turned the UPS truck around!

I checked 2 hours ago and my phone was still in China. Just now checked again and it's in L'ville! I'm in Indy, why would I get it thursday? Seems like I could get it tomorrow or wednesday? Not complaining though (until I get it and it's damaged).
The phone will fly to Anchorage and go through customs there and then on to Louisville Ky for more paperwork clearance and then to your local delivery center. Earlier in the thread there were folks tracking their flights, If I recall correctly it was 8-12 hours or so from China to Louisville and typically another day from there to your local center and then the next day for delivery. I think its called word express three day or something like that. Suppose to get to you by 10:30 AM and in three days after UPS picks it up in China.

Zheng Zhou is the factory. The phone will likely go from there to another nearby city, like Incheon or Seoul South Korea, and then to Anchorage Alaska followed by Louisville.
UPS tracking can be strange sometimes.

Sounds like they either switched phones or the tracking system was backlogged, has the SN changed on your mysupport page?
Anyway, if it is in Louisville, sometime today or tonight the phone should move to your local distribution center and then be put on a delivery truck for delivery tomorrow by the end of the day.
I don't think Apple is still putting holds on phone deliveries.

My email delivery also said Friday, but hoping for Thursday when my wife will be home to sign for it. I'm going to keep tracking and hopefully get a good delivery ETA. If it is destined for Friday I need to use MyUPS and have it shipped to our local UPS store (for the $5 extra) so I will be able to get my new toy before the weekend.

or you can print out the pre-sign form from apple and tape it to your front door. they will leave the package there even if no one's home. obviously you have to determine whether or not it will be safe.
How long is it taking people on the west coast to get their phones? I'm hoping since I live in WA, close to Anchorage, it may move a little quicker. I just received my tracking number last night. Any chance I'll get it by Friday? Sooo Impatient

Ordered a 32GB white iPhone 5 at 9:45 on the first day. Does anyone know why it still says processing items? My delivery date is October 9th...that seems WAY later than everyone else.

Well, to put in perspective...I placed my order around 7:30AM (ET) on the first day. So I would bet that your phone will ship today or tomorrow. My shipment notification email came on this past Sat morning, but no more updates until this morning.
