Is there any downside to ordering the T-Mobile unlocked iPhone 6/6 Plus if I am going to use it on AT&T?

I want to get an unlocked phone but it does not look like I will be able to get it directly from AT&T

Just FYI, my AT&T corp rep says I'm better off ordering off apple website as they hoard inventory compared to what AT&T gets.

Plus he noted they sell the most iPhones out of the carriers so it makes it supply more constrained.

Who knows. Wait nevermind, everybody order from AT&T . . . ;)

Good point above, I use paypal as I don't use credit cards, can that be used to pay for this or can I use/have to use my debit card?

i checked the app + apple.com and it gives you choice of visa, mc, discover + amex - i would assume that as long as you are under your daily spend limit there would not be an issue but call and check!! also, make sure all info is entered on apple and turn on express pay as well...

Daily spending limits for Debit Cards

Most debit and check cards have daily spending limits that may substantially delay the processing of an order, even if there is enough money in an account. When using a debit card, funds are immediately reserved in your bank account at the time you place your order. Please consult your card-issuing bank for information about your daily spending limits if you are having trouble placing your order.

The fastest bird gets the worm. At 2:59am EST I was refreshing the apple.com site as smooth as a hot knife through butter and then at 3:00am on the dot the site went to crapola and nothing would load.

Isn't anyone going to complain about how unfair it is for those on the east coast to have to wait three hours after ordering opens in Cali?

I was reading somewhere on Applecare website that your purchase date is considered the day the iPhone ships which is also the same day your credit card gets charged, not at the time of the transaction

I will have to make sure i have my shipping and payment information ready in my account so i can pre order quickly.

Also this time i am going to use my credit card, does anybody know if it gets charge right away with the total amount or it charges the card once it ships?

from apple.com:

When Apple charges your account

When you place an order, Apple will contact your credit or debit card's issuing bank to confirm it is a valid account. Apple requests an authorization, which holds the funds for the full or partial purchase amount. As Apple prepares your items, authorized funds will be unavailable and may display as "pending" on your credit or debit card's online statement.

If you are shipping an item, your card will only be charged after the item has shipped. For pickup items, you will be billed before your item is ready for pick up. If your order contains multiple items, you may see multiple charges on your credit or debit card statement.

If you cancel your order before your items are billed, any authorizations placed on your credit card account can take up to 30 days to expire and any authorizations placed on your debit card account can take up to 10 days to expire. Contact your financial institution for their specific timeframes.

I always upgrade from the Apple Store App, but this year I've been saving gift cards and can't pay with them in the App, for some reason, so I'll cross my fingers and hope using safari on apple.com wont be a cluster like some years past.

I had a chat session with an Apple rep regarding in-store pickup and they said that (like previous years) Apple Stores will only have so many in stock and you are not guaranteed an iPhone 6 on launch day through preorders.

Looks like I'll be having mine mailed and will keep a close eye out for the UPS driver next Friday!

you may have issues as on the apple site as it says to call them if you are using gift cards....i have a few too and i was told to pay with credit card, then go to apple store during the 14 day window and they will adjust the payment to reflect gift cards

I checked the tracking of my iPhone 5 and it was shipped via UPS. It arrived in Ann Arbor, MI around 11am, if I remember correctly.

Update: I found my social media posts from 2012 and my iPhone 5 arrived around 9:40am on release day.

You do realize that if it is 3am on east coast, it's 12am on the west. No one is complaining because orders go live at the same time.

I remember with the iPhone 5, the UPS driver was at my door at 9:04am on release day

I assume that preorders will be delivered on release day? Not shipped on release day? There seems to be some confusion on teh interwebz and I want to make sure.

Previously paying an extra $100 to upgrade from 16gb to 32gb did not seem worth it to me. Going from 16gb to 64gb I can justify. 64gb for me this time.

I had 64GB on my 5. So 64GB for me will be $100 cheaper. I have an iPad 3 LTE, so I don't need the extra storage for video and don't need the larger screen either.

Good question Apple really hasn't said one way or the other. So far they only said that you preorder this Friday. They don't say anything about delivery. In the past they have said for delivery on a particular date. I guess we will have to wait till 12:00AMPDT tomorrow night.

You are probably first on their route. Unfortunately I'm dead last on theirs, Ups came as late as 9pm one time.

Delivered on release day of course.

this..

this really matters as I will be away from home on release weekend! If i need it shipped to where I'll be to get it, it would be nice to know

Since we're talking about last year's preorders, I thought I'd remind about last year's thread where someone on the east coast complained about the extra 3 hr wait. I laughed so hard it that I think it's permanently glued to my brain. Hilarious and yes, sarcasm is hard to show on the web ;)

My fav thread too! Also the shipping thread which was exciting and fun  .

If ordering through the Apple app, make sure your billing and shipping addresses and your credit card are up to date. IIRC, during the iPhone 5 order, I was asked to enter the CVN on my credit card so you may want to have that on hand too.

Half the fun of getting the new phone is following everyone on these threads. See ya Friday at midnight!

Im a first timer

This will be my first time preordering, and the first time making a post here. Im actually a senior advisor at apple so this should be interesting :)
