Yeah, I am not buying it.
It's the camera angle that makes the aspect ratio of the screen look "off." As others have pointed out, the keyboard is flush with the edges, just like the 12" MacBook.

Apple's General Counsel likely uses his MacBook primarily for reading legal briefs (Preview or Adobe Reader), e-mails (Mail), and making edits to documents from the rest of Legal (Pages or maybe Word occasionally, and Keynote or maybe PowerPoint occasionally). A 12" MacBook is perfect for that.

Control freaks at the helm? Why would an interview with a lawyer need a "fake" laptop in the background? Dance little media monkies, dance!

All i heard was a loud "HEY' at the end ..

I just don't believe Apple would be so careless and leave a Mac not over uncovered, but it full view on TV broadcast.

If it was ultra-thin, how would u even know as the 12-inch is that thin anyway.

Easy to leave a "fake' laptop around to get everyone excited like Reddit...

and it worked.

I bet it's a Samsung laptop that Apple is using to cop...... oh.... woops... I got that the wrong way around.

12 inch Macbook is what I see. The huge giveaway is the keyboard. If you can't see that, go to an optometrist. Its edge to edge. Anything higher than that will never have edge to edge. Of course Apple could be using unreleased MacBooks with better hardware. Nothing is stopping them from doing that so that will be the only mystery from this.

I own a 12" Macbook. That is definitely not a 12" screen behind him.

I own one of these as well, and I say that is the standard 12" Macbook. Seeing that the keyboard goes edge to edge is the dead giveaway. Having owned 4 15" MBPs myself and 3 13" MBAs, I can assure you that both of those really can't have an edge to edge keyboard with the larger screens. The Macbook even has larger keys than any other Apple product.

Its basically just an odd camera angle, not to mention everyone wants to see something that isn't in production. Furthermore, I highly doubt Apple would have prototype machines sitting in the open in random non-secure offices... let alone the lawyers office.

You really think Apple is going to make a 15" or larger laptop with edge to edge keyboard? Good lord those keys would be massive.

You're right, the numeric keyboard and cursor keys are so overrated -- Ive's layout for the MBP17 keyboard was super-purrfect...oh the al-you-minium!

If that's the 12-inch MacBook, there's a funky optical illusion going on with the perspective because that screen looks more like a 15-inch screen to me. Perhaps there's also an "optical distortion field" at Apple HQ? ;)

If that is the case, you're saying they are making the notebook keyboards larger? The Macbook keyboard is about as "full size" as they get, and the keyboard in the picture is clearly going edge to edge. It is just cleverly positioned behind him to show off the Macbook on 60 minutes.

This is exactly correct. Love how definitive every one is on this. I own the 12" (and love it btw). The keyboard is edge to edge and there is no way you can have an edge to edge keyboard on a 13" MBA let alone a 15" MBP.

Here's what I think really happened. Apple decided to do some product placement. They knew the CBS "60 minutes" would air all across the US, while many of the people who would be watching were obviously interested in Apple and their products. Of course, it was a golden opportunity for Apple to showcase their brand new 12" MacBook, in Space Gray. The idea was possibly to draw attention to the new MacBook, in an attempt to drive sales.

Ding ding ding! You'll also notice the iPad Pro and another Space Gray rMB on the table, iPhones behind Eddie Cue and Apple Watches on the executives's wrists, suggesting that it was strategically staged for the segment

Unless they've put a full-size keyboard with the arrow keys and the number pad in a 15" or 17" computer. Definitely been done before in 17" models by other manufacturers. Doesn't sound very Apple-like, though.

Just like this...

If this was a prototype or something why would Apple even say anything at all. Just let the internet continue to buzz about it.

You are comparing a photo with the screen at near a 90-degree angle with one at nearly a 135-degree angle. The bezels will look smaller on the latter.
Yep, you're right. What about the image below: angled but still larger than the one from CBS? And the corners more rounded?

Could it be an edge to edge keyboard with the number pad?

Please pray for our planet! The tin foil hat brigade apparently are so smart that only they can determine the truth. Once again an absolute non-event has become a conspiracy in the blink of an eye. It's really sad how much time and energy is being consumed on this. Apple has to be laughing hard as they continue to milk our wallets.
