Good. Between this and Twitter refusing to ban him, at least some common sense prevails.
Riiiight. A program whose goal is to deceive is equivalent to a program whose goal is to inform, even though they sometimes blunder. And moving on from CNN, we’re now supposed to infer that the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times do the same thing and should be written off too. No facts, all bias, so the truth is what we individually decide it is based on what we want it to be. Again, well done. *wink wink* Great character. Lol!Alex Jones is admittedly a less likely source of truthful information in comparison to CNN, but it really is irrelevant.
CNN doesn’t report the truth. Ex: Tuesday’s elections. Not a single video on the topic was posted on their site. Why? Because trump won. Trust me if any of the states republicans would have lost CNN would be all over it.
The deplatforming of Alex Jones is frankly the scariest thing I've ever seen. Now, personally I think he's completely crazy and stupid, and I think many others do as well, but this is important:
Silicon Valley can cooperate to control so much of our media consumption across the entire western world, that in just 12 hours they can literally entirely erase someone from virtually every social media platform in existence.
That is completely crazy, and something has to be done about that.
You actually think CNN's goal is to inform and not to perform political spin?Riiiight. I’m curious where Jones’ defenders draw the line. If I started a “Heil Hitler” podcast and argued that we should force all American Jews into concentration camps, should Apple have to include it in iTunes?
Don’t be naïve. They wouldn’t care because it probably wouldn’t affect them personally. They’d start caring if you started a podcast describing how you know their mothers teach little girls fellatio on dogs, and how listeners should do everything in their power to stop them, violently if necessary. Once the angry mob shows up at their doorstep, it all changes and suddenly actual truth matters.I’m curious where Jones’ defenders draw the line. On the other hand, maybe distortion of truth begins when we look at dispassionate field reporting and shock jock opinion shows as equals, when we sneer at education and equate observable evidence with gut instinct. When we openly allow and praise the the power to suppress controversial ideas, we are all subject to censorship. Mark this in your calendar, one day we will look back and wonder when did it all go wrong or what is even true?
Different opinions do not bother me. Say what you want.
Removing content and silencing people? Now you’ve got a war. Especially when you grandstand about being inclusive of all people and opinions.
I have never listened to or watched Alex Jones, but removing alternative POVs is idiotic. What exactly did he violate in Apple's terms anyway? The censors never tell you. Gotta be careful not to commit WrongThink!
He did not incite harassment AFAIK. Saying it "led to" something occurring is quite a stretch. People can hear any news they want and them make any number of dumb decisions based on it.
And if my opinion on the radio is that you’re a child pimp and should be stopped, may I still say what I want? I actually want to know if you think so.Different opinions do not bother me. Say what you want.

I agree with the previous posters in that I have no interest in Alex Jones or any of the opinions he shares. However, I detest censorship far more. When a handful of companies can form a virtual monopoly and control the vast majority of social media and arbitrarily decide who can be heard, that's a big problem.
Do you remember the PewDiePie scandal that the WSJ caused? or the new hire at the NY Times that's a blatant racist? Can't wait to see what kind of objective articles she's going to produce! hahahahahaRiiiight. Google is already going back to China and following the censorship rule. Didn’t see the Google fanboys saying anything. :shrug:Not to mention the tech giants are all bending over backwards to appease China, going so far as to develop censorship technology that will be used by the dictatorship to censor criticism of the government.
It wouldn’t surprise me at all if China starts putting pressure on Facebook, Google, Apple to start censoring critiques of China within the United States (or globally).
You managed to respond to two posts of mine yet failing to make any argument of substance against either point. Well done. Why are his followers that stupid that they can’t find his website? Oh wait...

Playing lawyer on the internet rarely turns out well.

You can think that but Republicans spent millions of dollars and years of valuable congressional time and came up with wait for it... nothing. Thinking she committed crimes and you actually having proof, then use that unproven thinking to censor someone is so American to the typical Trump supporter. Not to mention Killing kids in the USA is just like a terrorist attack in a foreign country that killed people who knew the risks? Wow.

"That has demonstrably incited violence"??? You're telling me that whatever InfoWars posted to one of their channels has caused someone to incite violence? Good thing that's not illegal then. How about siccing his insane followers on the grieving parents of a dead toddler, who they accuse of being “crisis actors”, and harassing these poor bereaved people to the point where they need to move multiple times. Does that bother you?
Or how about inciting a shooting at a random pizza parlor with insane conspiracy theory crap that he knowingly peddles to the mentally disturbed? Does that bother you?
This world is so screwed. Thank you, Apple, for making a slight gesture to maintain human decency and stop the violence.

Good? That sounds like an Alex Jones problem, not an Apple problem. Stop trying to force private companies to host hateful nonsense that has demonstrably incited violence.

Congrats, this is actually the worst thing I’ve read on the internet all day. Disgusting.
Ugh cry everyone a river. The man has lied, so what? He cannot control what his fans do. Unless he directly incited violence there is nothing wrong with what he has said. We get lied to by CNN, MSNBC, Fox News and many more MSM channels every single day. Sure they're not as extreme, but they have a strong agenda and so does Alex Jones. It's just a battle of lies, CNN gets away with staging stories all the time and no one bats an eye. I guess you only see what you wanna see.
Yep that was Candace Owens a black conservative who posted that. Absolutely disgusting.Someone quoted her but changed 'white' to 'black' and they were banned pretty much instantly. Same thing with 'white' to 'jewish'
It's all double standards, that's what I can't stand. I don't even agree or like AJ but what's happening to him is unbelievable!
Never said it was.Jones is not a red state/ blue state issue.
It's not a line, it's a circle that runs throughout the political spectrum. If you want to draw it under AJ, then you will also have to draw it under similar left leaning groups that incite hatred and lie - but for some reason no one wants to do that.
They want to set one bar for the things they agree with but a higher bar for things they don't. They don't seem to realise the axe has two blades that cut evenly.
If they want to ban AJ then they should also ban Antifa.
If they want to ban Fox then they should also ban CNN.
If they want to ban racism against blacks, then they should also ban racism against whites.
So on and so forth, but you'll never hear them operate like this. They simply want to silence the opposition whilst maintaining a platform for their own brand of extremism.
